Does anyone have any experience with getting, unfortunately, an older version of Cache to authenticate via SMTP to send email? I have verified that the settings are set up properly on the mailbox as I have successfully sent an email from a LAMP server, which comes from the same IP address.

If you have any thoughts, I would greatly appreciate it.

This is the error I receive

ERROR #6034: SMTP server connection failed during MAIL FROM command: <READ>zSend+105^%Net.SMTP.1.

when I run the following

or "Didn't you say you would cover Persistent Objects in Part 5, Chris?"

Yes, that was the plan.  This is a pretty important topic, so it get's its own Article

Up until now, we've display widget JSON that has been created by a basic loop.  Clearly this isn't of much value.  Now we have our stack connected together, and we can see that the data is flowing to the Welcome page, it's time to complete the stack and start feeding our service from "real" data.

Let's start with our (very basic) Persistent class for Widgets.  We have 4 properties to hold Name, Description, Price and current Quantity.  We would like to expose all of these on our page.

I cannot connect to Cache from node.js

I have installed in Windows 10 the following: CACHE 2016, node.js v 4.4.7 and  express .

-  where can I get cache.node? The link in the Intersystmes documentation  http://globalsdb.org/downloads/  doesn't work. I found cache0100.node and cache0120.node  in my Cache instance's  \bin directory. But I am not sure if I can use them or not.

 - how to install cache.node ? Where do I place it exactly?

Can anyone recommend any tutorial or code example with installation instructions?

Thank you!

So, one day you're working away at WidgetsDirect, the leading supplier of widget and widget accessories, when your boss asks you to develop the new customer facing portal to allow the client base to access the next generation of Widgets..... and he wants you to use Angular 1.x to read into the department's Caché server.

There's only one problem:  You've never used Angular, and don't know how to make it talk to Caché.

This guide is going to walk through the process of setting up a full Angular stack which communicates with a Caché backend using JSON over REST.

Part 1 - Setup

To start fresh, we will create a Namespace for our new application - WIDGETDIRECT, and set this up with Code and Data databases, and appropriate Security roles.

Our next step is to set up 2 Applications to serve web content; one for the Angular web content and one to serve the REST conten

I have inherited a web-based database application and I'm having a hard time understanding the sequence of events when CSP pages are opened.  I have very limited web development experience.

Can anyone recommend a good resource for explaining this?  I have already gone through the Cache Cinema tutorial and the Cache CSP documentation.

Among other things, I don't understand when the OnPreHTTP method is invoked, when it is needed, and what belongs in there.  But, my misunderstanding is more basic than that -- I don't really understand the sequence of events for when a web page is loaded and the user interacts with it.

Hello,

I need to add a new property ("Injection") to an existing database.  The existing database contains, in part:

An "ImageStudy" which contains one or more "ImageFiles"  defined as follows:

Class PET.ImageStudy Extends (%Persistent)
{
Relationship ImageFiles as PET.ImageFile [cardinality=children,inverse=Study]
...
}
Class PET.ImageFile Extends (%Persistent)
Relationship Study as PET.ImageStudy [cardinality=parent,inverse=ImagFiles]
...
}

The requirements for the Injection are that 1)an ImageStudy can have one or more Injections; 2)an ImageFile is associated with a single Injection; 3)More than one ImageFile can be associated with a single Injection; 4)the Injection does not need to be persistent, it can be embedded in the ImageStudy.  I am planning to define the Injection as a %SerialObject containing RadioTracer, Dose and Time properties, and then include the Injection in the ImageStudy Class a

In this article I would like to present the RESTForms project - generic REST API backend for modern web applications.

The idea behind the project is simple -after I wrote several REST APIs I realized that generally, REST API consists of two parts:

  • Work with persistent classes
  • Custom business logic

And, while you'll have to write your own custom business logic, RESTForms provides all things related to working with persistent classes right out of the box.
Use cases

  • You already have a data model in Caché and you want to expose some (or all) of the information in a form of REST API
  • You are developing a new Caché application and you want to provide a REST API

Hi All
This is the index to a series of articles I hope to create over the coming months.

ZEN and ZEN Mojo are no longer being actively developed by Intesystems - this is a great shame as it is a fine product that works so well for business applications.
However ZEN is a 15 year old product and I need a path forward to replace the ZEN UI with a supported development framework.

This article is an index of the other articles I have, or plan to write. - the articles will be subject to change as I develop my thoughts and climb the learning curve.

Hi All

I this article I detail some strategic issues that a new development UI will need to address - these are the ones that I can think of now - others may come to light during this journey.

See the webinar by Eduard Lebedyuk here from the last Global Summit describing  modern web development and Caché

And, as always, if I have missed something please comment....

Index to Articles

Hi All

I am an avid user of ZEN for over 10 years now and it works for me.
But it seems that Intersystems are no longer actively developing it (or ZEN Mojo), the only published reference to this  is here

As an aside, Intersystems makes fine products (I have been using the technology for 35 years) and has great support BUT they are not good at being open with their product road map/retirement plans.  This is very embarrassing  to me when talking with my end user clients.

Index to Articles

Hi All

It's been 6 weeks since my original article sad
- - - - -but I have been busy on this project smiley

I have been looking at/thinking about a replacement for ZEN for around 12 months but only really started in depth 4 months ago.
Also been in IT for long enough that I can "get a feel" for a product/technology and make decisions accordingly without going into great detail.
Any new technology has a learning curve and I don't want to waste time and effort on something that won't fly.
And, as always, I am looking to minimise the learning curve as I want to concentrate on delivering business benefit.

Does developing a RESTful API in Caché remove the requirement to use the InterSystems.Data.CacheClient.dll and generate proxy classes using the Caché Object Binding Wizard for .NET web development? If anyone has links to sample applications using .NET with Caché and REST Services, I would be grateful if you could share them.

This series of articles aims to address the following topics:

  • Creation of a web application based on REST pages;
  • Overview of some tools for tracing (debugging) HTTP requests;
  • Switching from hyperevents to... hyperevents;
  • Integration with jQuery File Upload;
  • Conversion of JSON from the {id:1,parentId:1} format to the {id:1,children:[{}]} format for tree visualization;
  • Integration with jQuery EasyUI (using datagrid and tree as examples);
  • Other topics.

Hi guys,

I am using the %Net.HttpRequest method to get data from a server.

The server will continuously send data. Is there any way that i can able to read the HttpResponse data line by line so that if at a particular line i may terminate the request.

Please advice.

Thanks,

Arya

Set httprequest=##class(%Net.HttpRequest).%New()
	Set httprequest.Server="www.intersystems.com"
	Do httprequest.Get("/")
	Do httprequest.HttpResponse.OutputToDevice()
	Do httprequest.Get("/cache/")
	Do httprequest.HttpResponse.OutputToDevice()

The above is the code which i found in this link http://docs.intersystems.com/latest/csp/documatic/%25CSP.Documatic.cls?P...
How do the above code works and can i be able to run this?

Thanks in advance.

In our last lesson, we implemented a new REST Service to allow us to perform CRU operations on Widgets, and refactored our Controllers to allow the page setup to be decouple from the content.

When we created our Widget Services, we did not implement a Deletion operation, which the HTTP Delete verb provides.  As this is a base table for other parts of the Widgets Direct empire, we don't want to be able to do a hard Delete of the WIdget values, as this could cause issues with our ordering and billing modules.  So, we will add a "Deleted" property to the class, and have the Delete operation set this Boolean flag instead.  We will adjust our GetAllWidgets method to ignore any records which are marked as "Deleted"

While, am clicking on the drop down bx, there are few numbers of listed items, while am doing mouse over action, I should display the entire text of selected item from that drop down list box, even am not selecting that item. I would like to know about the what is exact text it contains in Zen framework.

Hi All,

Does anybody has experience with Angular application and have implemented some solution in order to track and record pageviews?

We are interested in to know how to capture those pageviews information and call a Caché REST Api in order to store those data.

Thanks.

Hello,

I have a property which I need to move from one class definition to another as follows:

Old definition:

Class SCHED.SchedEntry
{

  Property Experiment as %String;

  Property ScanSlot as list of TracerEntry;

}

Class SCHED.TracerEntry
{

  Property Tracer As %String

}

I want to move the Experiment property to the TracerEntry class so that there is a different Experiment allowed for each ScanSlot, like this:

Class SCHED.SchedEntry
{

  Property ScanSlot as list of TracerEntry;

}

Class SCHED.TracerEntry
{

  Property Tracer As %String;

  Property Experiment As %String;

}

We already have an application running on our production system using the old class definitions, which contains a lot of data

Looking at the documentation expalining the use of client side menus, including the drop down menu.

I was messing around trying to get the "Open", once clicked, to use javascript to open windows file explorer to open/pick a file.

I've got it to partially work... Using keystrokes Ctrl-O will open the file explorer yet clicking on the drop down's File/Open does nothing.

Not sure what I'm doing wrong here.

NOTE:  I had commented out the two &html lines in the Testing Method... and doing a Ctrl-O still work.

Why

(I am new to this language) I have got a JSON request to handle in a web application which is in %CSP.Request object. But the request which I am going to handle is of type array of objects.
like,

[
  {
    "Name": "bat"
  },
  {
    "Name": "Cat"
  },
  {
    "Name": "rat"
  },
  {
    "Name": "mat"
  },
  {
    "Name": "hat"
  },
  {
    "Name": "chat"
  },
  {
    "Name": "please"
  },
  {
    "Name": "help"
  },
  {
    "Name": "me"
  },
  {
    "Name": "in"
  },
  {
    "Name": "getting"
  },
  {
    "Name": "the"
  },
  {
    "Name": "value"
  },
  {
    "Name": "of"
  },
  {
    "Name": "nameFromObjectInsideArray"
  }
]

my requirement is, i need to extract the value from the " Name " property which is an array of objects.
