The aim of this article is to explain how to create messaging between IRIS and Microsoft Teams.

In my company, we wanted to monitor error messages, and we used the Ens.Alert class to redirect those error messages through a Business Operation that sent an email.
The problem was that we sent those error messages to a support account where there were many emails. We wanted something specific for a specific team.

So we investigated how to make these messages reach the development team directly and they could have, in real time, a notification of an error in our production.
In our company we use Microsoft Teams as a corporate tool, so we asked ourselves: How could we make these messages reach the IRIS development team?

Hi Community,   OpenAPI-Client Gen has just released, this is an application to create an IRIS Interoperability Production client from Swagger 2.0 specification.   Instead of the existing tool ^%REST that creates a server-side REST application, OpenAPI-Client Gen creates a complete REST Interoperability Production client template.

If you had the opportunity to change something in the IRIS Interoperability Message Viewer, what would you do?

IRIS and Ensemble are designed to act as an ESB/EAI. This mean they are build to process lots of small messages.

But some times, in real life we have to use them as ETL. The down side is not that they can't do so, but it can take a long time to process millions of row at once.

To improve performance, I have created a new SQLOutboundAdaptor who only works with JDBC.

Extend EnsLib.SQL.OutboundAdapter to add batch batch and fetch support on JDBC connection.

Benchmark

Benchmarks released on Postgres 11.2 with 1 000 000 rows fetched and 100 000 rows inserted on 2 columns.

Productions often need to receive REST requests.

Here's how to do that.

In this article, I will show how you can easily containerize  .Net/Java Gateways.

For our example, we will develop an Integration with Apache Kafka.

And to interoperate with Java/.Net code we will use PEX .

As you all know, the world of artificial intelligence is already here, and everyone wants to use it to their benefit.

There are many platforms that offer artificial intelligence services for free, by subscription or private ones. However, the one that stands out because of the amount of "noise" it made in the world of computing is Open AI, mainy thanks to its most renowned services: ChatGPT and DALL-E.

What is Open AI?

Below is a simple alert processor based on the EnsLib.HTTP.OutboundAdapter  to send text alerts via an SMS Gateway service. Typically, all that is needed to send an HTTP Post to the gateway service is the destination phone number, a source phone number, credentials, and the URL.

The code below is based on the Anveo gateway whose interface is as follows:

Preface

Before we begin, I'd like to mention that I am by no means an Ensemble expert, so take this with a grain of salt and please feel free to offer any suggestions for improvement. That being said, I have enjoyed working with Ensemble and wanted to share the approach I took to poll an external REST API for patient data in the hopes that it might help others with a similar goal.

So what's new since IoP command line interface was released?

Two new big features were added to IoP:

• Rebranding: the grongier.pex module was renamed to iop to reflect the new name of the project.
• Async support: IoP now supports async functions and coroutines.

When calling out to web services there are several settings of the Business Operation that play together in controlling what will happen when a response is not returned in the desired time.

We are sometimes asked for examples of how to do 3rd party SQL database selects/updates/inserts/stored procedures from an Ensemble SQL Business Operation.

Running predictive models natively in an InterSystems IRIS Business Process has of course always been the goal of our PMML support, but somehow never made it into the kit because there were a few dependencies and choices that needed addressing and answering. In the first part of this series, we examined the fundamentals of Interoperability on Python (IoP), specifically how it enables us to construct such interoperability elements as business services, processes, and operations using pure Python.

Now, we are ready to take things a step further. Real-world integration scenarios extend beyond simple message handoffs.They involve scheduled polling, custom message structures, decision logic, filtering, and configuration handling.In this article, we will delve into these more advanced IoP capabilities and demonstrate how to create and run a more complex interoperability flow using only Python.

To make it practical, we will build a comprehensive example: The Reddit Post Analyzer Production. The concept is straightforward: continuously retrieving the latest submissions from a chosen subreddit, filtering them based on popularity, adding extra tags to them, and sending them off for storage or further analysis.

The ultimate goal here is a reliable, self-running data ingestion pipeline. All major parts (the Business Service, Business Process, and Business Operation) are implemented in Python, showcasing how to use IoP as a Python-first integration methodology.

We use the Caché JDBC Gateway to Oracle and SQL servers to directly invoke their stored procedures from Ensemble. Getting quick, inline data results back are typically handled within the Functions.Library class as a function to wrap the query and format the return appropriately.

But what about more elaborate stored procedures made for posting data without log-jamming a Router?  The operations to construct those data pipelines can get tedious, especially when changes are needed.

Recently we have exercised this with a partner. It may be helpful for others as well.

The basic functionality is to connect to SAP through SAPJCo (Supporting SAPJCo 3.07+).

As a first step have a production with at least two items of the following type:

• EnsLib.JavaGateway.Service
• EnsLib.SAP.Operation

Configure the settings for the Java Gateway and the SAP Operation accordingly. And start the production.

Now the library sapjco3.jar needs to get imported to be used by further internal functionality.

There is a Link Procedure Wizard option within the Management Portal (System > SQL >Wizards > Link Procedure) which I had reliability issues with so I decided to use this solution instead.

Problem

You need to query an external SQL database to use the response within a namespace. This guide is assuming that you already have a working stored procedure in SSMS although you could instead use a SQL block within the operation. Stored procedures in SSMS are preferred to maintain integrity, Embedded SQL can get very confusing if you have a complicated SQL statement.

Say you have a receiving system that accepts HL7 and provides error messages in field ERR:3.9 in the ACK it returns. You require a different reply code action depending on the error message, however the Reply Code Actions settings for the operation do not provide this level of granularity. One option could be to create a process that takes the ACK and then completes the action you were expecting, however things can get a bit messy if the action is to retry the message, especially when trying to view a message trace.

You know that feeling when you get your blood test results and it all looks like Greek? That's the problem FHIRInsight is here to solve. It started with the idea that medical data shouldn't be scary or confusing – it should be something we can all use. Blood tests are incredibly common for checking our health, but let's be honest, understanding them is tough for most folks, and sometimes even for medical staff who don't specialize in lab work. FHIRInsight wants to make that whole process easier and the information more actionable.

This short article was motivated by a problem of one of my customers. They use Ensemble to integrate many systems, some of them use just plain files.

So they naturally selected File Outbound Adapter to write into target file. Things were running smoothly for years, until recently, when the volume of data being written to the file reached large size of tens of megabytes. The operation took around half an hour to complete, causing timing problems where subsequent operations within the process had to wait, and third party system was not happy to wait so long.

Using the wizard which is available with Version 2016.1 and up (currently only through direct call in the webbrowser http://<server>:<port>/csp/<namespace>/EnsPortal.Dialog.SAPJCO.BaseConfiguration.cls ).

EHR (Electronic Health Record) systems are modeled in a proprietary format/structure and are not based on market models such as FHIR or HL7. Some of these systems can interoperate data in a proprietary format for FHIR and other market models, but others can not. InterSystems has two platforms that can interoperate proprietary formats for market ones: InterSystems HealthShare Connect and InterSystems IRIS for Health.

Java Business Services and Operations
