eBPF: Tracing Kernel Events for IRIS Workloads

I attended Cloud Native Security Con in Seattle with full intention of crushing OTEL day, then perusing the subject of security applied to Cloud Native workloads the following days leading up to CTF as a professional excercise. This was happily upended by a new understanding of eBPF, which got my screens, career, workloads, and atitude a much needed upgrade with new approaches to solving workload problems.

So I made it to the eBPF party and have been attending clinic after clinic on the subject ever since, here I would like to "unbox" eBPF as a technical solution, mapped directly to what we do in practice (even if its a bit off), and step through eBPF through my experimentation on supporting InterSystems IRIS Workloads, particularly on Kubernetes, but not necessarily void on standalone workloads.

Currently, many of you has some knowledge about CachéQuality (which is being renamed to objectscriptQuality) for analyzing objectscript code using the rules we have predefined. Probably you have tested it and have found too many warnings in your projects. I'm sure there are issues which are really important for you and some others which you would like to dismiss.

I just realized that operating system command execution does not work on Windows console if the IRIS service is started using a different user than Local System account (the default).

I always change the user configured in the IRIS service and I believe this is a standard good practice, particularly in "real" environments (be it production, stage, test or development) that are part of Windows Active Directory Domain.

So I've got the IRIS AMI spun up in AWS EC2; it seems to be running fine.

I've added an EBS volume to it for persistent storage, and now I'm pondering how to make it actually do something useful.

What's the best way to do deploy code to this instance? I can think of a few ways to do it, but what's the least painful way? Push my code to an S3 bucket and figure out how to load it at system start? Github project?

InterSystems Platforms Update Q2-2025

We have a big update this quarter.

  • RHEL 10 was released yesterday, read on for what that means for you
  • 2025.3 will use OpenSSL 3 across all operating systems SUSE 15 sp6 will be the minimum OS for orgs using SUSE
  • The minimum CPU standards are going up in 2025.3
  • Older Windows Server operating systems will no longer be supported in 2025.3

Greetings from Chile, I have a question about IAM, I have a client who implements IAM in a QA environment, I configure a workspace and a series of routes (quite a few) and now he wants to export what has been created and take it to production (another server), which is the procedure to do it? Is it possible to export the workspace, routes, plugins, etc.?

I am new to cache. In an interview i was asked how to optimize a sql query.

I just said I will create index on conditions which are present in where clause. But as per interviewer I should check How query plan is getting executed. This will help in optimizing Sql queries.

I want to know what will be the answer for how to optimize SQL query in cache.

Hello Everyone

I am new to cache. I know there are 2 types of methods in cache. One is Instance method (Which can be call through object creation of particular class) and other is Class methods (which can be call through ##Class(MyPackage.Car).CarModels()).

I want to know the difference when to create a instance method vs when to create a class methods.
