Hi Community!

We know that every developer has small side projects — apps where you experiment with new technologies, test ideas before implementing them in bigger solutions, or just build something fun for the sake of curiosity. But what if one of those projects could take you all the way to the InterSystems READY 2025?

We’re launching a unique opportunity: show us your passion, creativity, and love for IRIS, and win a free pass to the InterSystems READY + hotel accommodation!

The rules are simple: upload your fun IRIS-based side project to Open Exchange, and record a short inspirational video about why you should be the one to get the pass to THE event of the year and win!

Duration: April 21 - May 04, 2025

Prizes: hotel accommodation and free passes to the InterSystems READY 2025!

Hi all,

I want to share a quick little method you can use to enable ssl with a self signed certificate on your local development instance of IRIS/HealthShare. This enables you to test https-specific features such as OAuth without a huge lift.

1. Install OpenSSL

Windows : Download from https://www.openssl.org or other built OpenSSL Binary.

Debian Linux: $ sudo apt-get -y install openssl

RHEL : $ sudo yum install openssl

What is a core file? and When are they useful?

The information in this document is current as versions of InterSystems products released through 2024-06-06. This update date covers errors in that discovered up to 2024-08-12, but not changes present in new versions of InterSystems products.

Nevertheless, the details for existing products are not subject to frequent change.

When developing a new Interoperability Production, it is quite natural that settings are initially added in the Production.

However, as soon as you want to move the Production from development to a test or staging environment, it becomes clear that some settings like HTTP Servers, IP addresses and/or ports need to be changed. In order to avoid these settings being overwritten during a redeployment later on, it is essential that you move these settings from the Production to the System Default settings.

Hi Everyone,

New Coding Talk, recorded by @Evgeny Shvarov, is already on InterSystems Developers YouTube:

My main goal of this article was to prove the use of InterSystems IRIS for Health for REST FHIR interoperability between multiple applications. In this use case, some initiating application makes a REST call to IRIS for Health (which is merely a passthrough for REST calls) to retrieve FHIR data from an Oracle Health R4 FHIR repository. Ideally, it simplifies the syntax for calling the Oracle Health APIs.

Hi all, I have released the latest version of VSCode extension for ObjectScript already a month ago, and finally a time for the info about this new release.

So, what's new in the release:

What's new in this version

  • added export setting "objectscript.export.addCategory" if enabled uses the previous behaviour, adds category folder to export folder, disabled by default
  • added Server actions menu, by clicking on server info from status bar. Open Management portal, Class Reference and toggle connection.
  • Class Suggestion in ##class, Extends, As, CompileAfter, DependsOn, PropertyClass
  • $SYSTEM suggestion by Classes from %SYSTEM
  • Import and compile folder or file by context menu in File Explorer
  • Server Explorer, now possible to open any other namespace
  • Macros suggestion

For details how it works now, look further.

Introduction

In today's rapidly evolving threat landscape, organizations deploying mission-critical applications must implement robust security architectures that protect sensitive data while maintaining high availability and performance. This is especially crucial for enterprises utilizing advanced database management systems like InterSystems IRIS, which often powers applications handling highly sensitive healthcare, financial, or personal data.

Using VECTORs in ObjectScript

Most examples I've seen so far in OEX or DC left the impression that VECTORs
are just something available with SQL with the 3 Functions especially around VECTOR_Search.
* TO_VECTOR()
* VECTOR_DOT_PRODUCT ()
* VECTOR_COSINE ()

There is a very useful summary hidden in iris-vector-search demo package.
From there you find everything you need over several links and corners.

Using Grafana directly from IRIS

There have been some very helpful articles in the community that show how to use Grafana with IRIS (or Cache/Ensemble) by using an intermediate database.

But I wanted to get at IRIS structures directly. In particular, i wanted to access the Cache History monitor data that is accessible by SQL as described here

https://community.intersystems.com/post/apm-using-cach%C3%A9-history-mon...

and didn't want anything between me and the data.

Parallel query hinting boosts certain query performances on multi-processor systems via parallel processing. The SQL optimizer determines when this is beneficial. On single-processor systems, this hint has no effect.

Parallel processing can be managed by:

  1. Setting the auto parallel option system-wide.
  2. Using the %PARALLEL keyword in the FROM clause of specific queries.

%PARALLEL is ignored when it applied to:
