Field Tests

We are currently using Ensemble on AIX. We are on 2015.2.2. If I install Field Test on a windows desktop, is it possible that I can import the Cache.dat from my AIX server, so I can do some Proof of Concept development?

Thanks

Scott

Does anybody else have problems installing the  Caché 2017.1 FT for Win_x64?

I'm getting an error "Unable to execute the required file: The following system error has occurred: The system cannot find the file specified. (2)"

This is happening with the very latest version (build 726) and the previous one ( build 720), whereas the builds before were fine.

I've uninstalled Caché to see whether it was an upgrade vs clean install problem but it makes no difference.

The FT keys InterSystems currently make available to us in the zips from the download pages are due to expire at the end of this month (31-Aug-16). Will there be new keys soon?

Also wondering when we might expect new FT builds for 2016.2 and 2016.3. The last published ones were 24-Jun-16 and 16-Jun-16 respectively.

I haven't seen an Atelier update for a while either.

I am pleased to announce the next 2016.2 field test kit, 2016.2.0.677.0.

I haven’t sent an update to this thread in a while and it should come as no surprise that there has been quite a lot of development going on since I wrote about build 632.  In fact, there have been almost 300 changes covering most areas of the product.

The accumulated list of fixes to problems found in the field since build 632 includes the following changes

I am pleased to announce the field test of Caché and Ensemble 2016.3 -  with many new improvements.

The product team at InterSystems looks forward to your participation in the field test and feedback over the coming months.

Some of the more signification changes in 2016.3 are new RESTful APIs for iKnow and broader APIs for programmatic control of multiple servers (enterprise manager).  As always, there are a host of scalability and performance improvements, including improvements to the core database and SQL.  And hundreds of smaller improvements and corrections.

I was trying to modify the REST.DocServer sample in the SAMPLE namespaces to use the new %Object and %Array system objects (Ensemble 2016.2 build 636) with the following changes:

/// This method returns a list of namespaces for this server

ClassMethod GetNamespaces() As %Status

{

    #dim tSC As %Status = $$$OK

    #dim tList,tNS,tFilteredList,tValue As %String

    #; Get the list of namespaces

    Do List^%SYS.NAMESPACE(.tList)

    Set tNS="" For  {

        Set tNS=$Order(tList(tNS),1,tValue) If tNS="" Quit

        #; Only want namespaces which are enabled and are not remote

        If $List(tValue,1)=1&&$List(tValue,2)=0 {

            Set tFilteredList(tNS)=""

        }

    }

    #; If we have been asked for json

    If $Get(%request.CgiEnvs("HTTP_ACCEPT"))="application/json" {

I am pleased to announce the next 2016.2 field test kit, 2016.2.0.632.0.

Since I haven’t sent an update to this thread in a while it should come as no surprise that there have been quite a few changes since I wrote about build 609.  In fact, there have been over 175 changes in 50 different areas, with the majority of changes in:

  • Atelier
  • DOCUMENT Data Model
  • SQL
  • DeepSee

The most changes since build 609 are in Atelier and the biggest Atelier change is that the Atelier client is no longer bundled with the field test kit.  The latest Atelier client is available HERE.

The accumulated list of fixes to problems found in the field since build 609 includes the following changes

I am pleased to announce the field test of Caché and Ensemble 2016.2 -  an exciting new release with improvements on many different fronts.

The entire product team at InterSystems looks forward to your participation in the field test and feedback over the coming months.

Some of the more profound changes in 2016.2 include:

  • Atelier - the new multi-platform IDE for Caché, Ensemble and HealthShare.
  • Introduction of a DOCUMENT data model (extending the reach of our multi-model capabilities)
  • Concurrent management and configuration of many servers

As always, there are a host of scalability and performance improvements, including improvements to the core database, ECP and SQL.  And hundreds of smaller improvements and corrections.

Summary details of these changes can be found HERE

I am pleased to announce the next 2016.2 field test kit, 2016.2.0.609.0.

This is a relatively light update with only a few dozen changes from the previous field test, spread out across all areas of the product.  Also, in a break from the recent past, this update doesn’t contain any new fixes to problems found in the field.

Please download the kit and give it a try; the latest field test of 2016.2 is available HERE.  And, as always, we welcome your feedback.

I am pleased to announce the next 2016.2 field test kit, 2016.2.0.605.0.

There are about a hundred changes from the previous field test kit, including the following fixes to problems found by those using the kits in the field:

  • DLP3516, which fixes a problem in the Demo.Document.Data.Loader class
  • RJW2416, which fixes a problem with the telnet client disconnecting on Windows

One additional change of note: in this kit we have changed the on-disk format for DOCUMENT data.  If you want to preserve your data from an older instance and make it available in this version you should export the data from that older instance and import it into the new.  This is the method that you should always be using during the field test because, as you know, we do not support upgrades from one field test kit to another

I am pleased to announce the next 2016.2 field test kit, 2016.2.0.595.0.

It may look like a slow week, with less than fifty changes having been checked in, but this kit includes the following fixes to problems found by you, the ones running the kits in the field:

  • ALE2845, which fixes the cachejdbc.jar version
  • JN1637, which fixes an issue that blocked debugging Atelier when used in conjunction with Kerberos
  • DLP3508, which fixes a JSON issue with $compose()

The rest of the fixes have been spread among different areas of the product, chief among them DOCUMENT Data Model, SQL and Atelier.

Please download the kit and give it a try; the latest field test of 2016.2 is available HERE.  And, as always, we welcome your feedback.

I am pleased to announce the third 2016.2 field test kit, 2016.2.0.590.0.

In the week since the last field test posting Development has made over a hundred fixes and improvements in Atelier, Enterprise Manager, Ensemble and Caché.  Unlike the previous field test kit, though, in which the changes were distributed evenly over multiple areas and products, in this kit over half of the changes are associated just with Atelier.

Please download the kit and give it a try; the latest field test of 2016.2 is available HERE.  And, as always, we welcome your feedback.

Do to unforseen circumstances the Atelier build that was distributed with the Cache 2016.2 field test had certain incompatibilites which prevented it's effective use with the server that it was bundled with.

We are working on remediating this regretable situation and will provide a compatible Atelier in the 2016.2 field test refresh which is scheduled for today Monday, 1st of Februrary.

We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience so caused.

I am pleased to announce the next in the series of 2016.2 field test kits, 2016.2.0.585.0.

In the two weeks since the last field test posting Development has made over a hundred fixes and improvements in Atelier, Enterprise Manager, Ensemble and Caché.

In Atelier alone there were over a dozen changes including a fix for the incompatibility issue that Jamie Newton described in his posting of February 1.

In Caché major areas of focus include:

  • SQL (ten changes),
  • ECP and mirroring (11 changes),
  • Objects and JSON (13 changes),
  • DeepSee (nine changes), and
  • Documentation (23 changes)

We also continue to focus on problems turned up by our developer community and so this kit contains the fix to WRC 854826, a problem dealing with REST processing of HTTP Accept headers
