To resolve the error <PROTECT>, remove the read-only attribute of the system-wide library database (IRISLIB for InterSystems IRIS, CACHELIB for Caché/Ensemble/HealthShare (Caché-based))

Once you have finished importing the routine, remember to change it back to read-only.

When you first start working with InterSystems IRIS, it’s a common practice to install a system with only a minimum level of security. InstallFoundation method is missing (IRIS 2023.2+)

Recently IRIS 2023.2 was released. This version removed this method InstallFoundation from this class HS.HC.Util.Installer. This was a private method and it was not documented. But it was widely used by the community to install FHIR server.

So if you encounter this error:

You can programmatically retrieve routine dates and sizes using the RoutineList query of the %Library.Routine (or just %Routine) class.

The RoutineList query has an argument, and the routine name to be searched can be specified by prefix match or middle match. (For wildcards, specify * or ?)

With the massive amount of data generated every day, choosing the appropriate format can greatly impact the speed, cost, and accuracy of data processing tasks. There are several file formats available, each with its own set of advantages and disadvantages, making the decision of which one to use complex. Some of the popular Big Data file formats include CSV, JSON, Avro, ORC, and Parquet.

For a long time, we have been using a utility in production to export the result of a query to an Excel spreadsheet. Moreover, we have applied a modification of it, in which the explicit setting of column formats is a priority.

In our previous article we saw how to capture DICOM type files located in a folder in our server and how we could send them to a PACS software (in our case the ORTHANC open source solution) for storage and consultation. Well, in this article we are going to deal with the opposite movement.

In the past, reading information from a bar code was limited to a simple alphanumeric code. The creation of a bar code with more than one dimension (2D), especially the QR Code, allowed to increase the amount and variety of data stored in a bar code. While conventional bar codes are capable of storing a maximum of approximately 20 digits, the QR Code is capable of handling several tens to hundreds of times more information. This revolutionized the markets. Now QR codes are everywhere and can be very useful for storing textual, numeric, alphanumeric and even binary data.

InterSystems has also released IRIS as containerized deployments. This post is to demonstrate how InterSystems IRIS and applications those rely on IRIS a backend can be packaged into an image and be run in other machines in containers and how simple it is to do that.

A container runs image/s which have all the necessary executables, binary code, libraries, and configuration files. And the images can be moved from one machine to another, and an images repository like Docker Hub can simplify that process.

I have attached a document that describes the product I have developed called NiPaRobotica Pharmacy. This is an interface I developed that accepts Pharmacy Dispense Requests and converts the line items on the order into dispense dialogues which it sends to pharmacy robots. I deployed the interface into 3 Hospital pharmacies two of which had 6 robots that were arranged in such a way that the dispense chutes channelled medications to desks by the pharmacists sitting in windows serving 1200 patients a day. The robots cut the average waiting time from 2 hours down to one hour.
