Problems with Strings

I am accessing IRIS databases with JDBC (or ODBC) using Python. I want to fetch the data into a pandas dataframe to manipulate the data and create charts from it. I ran into a problem with string handling while using JDBC. This post is to help if anyone else has the same issues. Or, if there is an easier way to solve this, let me know in the comments!

On one of my team's systems, we utilize a business operation with the EnsLib.SQL.OutboundAdapter to make SQL queries to another IRIS system using JDBC. To authenticate the connection, we utilize a user account on the target system.

We recently had a failure where this user account expired due to inactivity, causing all queries to error until the account was reactivated on the target system.

I'm executing a query using JDBC on a PostgreSQL db:

SET statement_timeout TO 600000000; COMMIT SELECT * FROM bi_hour

The query is aborted with the following message:

FOUT #5023: Fout in Java Gateway: JDBC Gateway getClob(0,2) errorBad value for type long : active

The column 'blocked_status' contains the value 'active' is of type 'text'. I figure somewhere the SQL Gateway tries to convert the text value into a long but I can't find where, any suggestions?

From time to time we develop an Ensemble Production with simple SQL Inbound data from external databases, we need to develop a few new classes. There are at least:

• 1 Ens.Request class with the fields captured from the SQL ResultSet
• 1 Business Service class using SQL Inbound Adaptor, and in the OnProcessInput(), copy the relevant field data from ResultSet to the new Ens.Request, and call either ..SendRequestSync() or ..SendRequestAsync().

Let's say, if these codes can be generated automatically in order to make the entire development more "low code".

The bottom line: MAXLEN is relevant mostly for odbc/jdbc connections and you need to specify an appropriate value within your  tables (classes), otherwise the data might be truncated when you query it, or even fail when you try to insert data.

I was struggling with a procedure that was meant to receive a string and use it as a filter, I've found that since I want the procedure to do some data transformation and return a dataset, I needed to use objectScript language.

I've created the procedure using the SQL GUI in the portal, and everything works fine when calling the procedure from the SQL GUI but not through a JDBC connection here is the call "call spPatientOS('2024-04-07T12:35:32Z')"

the bottom line is that the procedure was created with the parameter defined as STRING(MAXLEN=1) which means that my parameter from the jdbc was

We are getting this error. All the drivers, URL and credential are tested and existed. it works fine sometime but also getting this error more often. Please advise the root cause and its respective solution. The business service that is using out of the box Java service (classname: EnsLib.JavaGateway.Service adapter classname: EnsLib.JavaGateway.ServiceAdapter) is throwing this error.

I am currently adding a field to our Existing messaging from Epic, however there might be a possibility I need to back load data into the Ancillary system. While I have the previous messages that can be sent, they do not have this additional field that I am adding to the message.

Is it possible to authenticate an xDBC (ODBC/JDBC) connection to InterSystems IRIS via (a 3rd party) OAuth server?

For REST APIs this is possible, but could this be achieved with OAuth? 

Out-of-the-box the ODBC/JDBC Drivers don't seem to have this option, but maybe some custom code could enable this? perhaps via Delegated Authentication and some OAuth classes customization, or some other way?

Has anyone done this already and can share how it was implemented, or someone with some guideline suggestions?

Tring to Performing following script in IRIS but do not know how to format Date. Normally, I would use TO_DATE or TO_TIMESTAMP in the actual queue statement below, but since I'm using Prepared Statements, I do not know how to format date in 'values' that is being used in the %Execute. Ran into an issue this morning, that I am having a hard time trying to track down what might have caused the issue. We have a Business Rule that sends HL7 ADT to a Business Process that inserts the data into a MS SQL Server using a Custom Business Operation (SQL Outbound Adapter).

Early yesterday morning the Custom Business Operation reset its connection through the Java Gateway Server to the MS SQL Database, when it reconnected to the Java Gateway/MS SQL Database it stopped processing.So, the Business Rule had over 40,000 queued up to process.

I am having issues trying to obtain a JDBC driver which is backwards compatible with java 6 for a solution which will call my IRIS instance, I have already logged a WRC ticket which is looking unlikely that there will be any development to create a driver for such legacy tech.

I'm looking for an efficient way in DBeaver to filter system tables (ex: belonging to a schema starting with "%").

By using a user with the %All role, DBeaver shows us a long list of system schemas, which forces us to go down the list before accessing the user tables.

Recently I started moving some of our JDBC Gateway configurations over to using the Microsoft JDBC Gateway driver instead of using the jTDS open source driver. I have noticed since then that those Objects that are using Microsoft JDBC Driver are throwing a lot more errors than the jTDS driver ever did, which I can understand however I am puzzled that I keep running into an issue with the Java Gateway Service within the Interoperability engine.

As a former JAVA developer it has always been a challenge to decide which database was the most suitable for the project we were going to develop, one of the main criteria I used was their performance, as well as their HA configuration capabilities ( high availability). Well, now is the time to put IRIS to the test with respect to some of the most commonly used databases, so I've decided to create a small Java project based on SpringBoot that connects via JDBC with a MySQL database, another of PostgreSQL and finally with IRIS.
