I usually receive complains from our customers about the BPL and DTL web pages automatic refreshes, it's a common problem among newbies users but for veteran developers too, they forget to save the changes regularly and automatically the web page is reloaded, losing all the work done.
Maybe an autosave would fix this problem that produces a deep feeling of hate and resentment against InterSystems technology among our customers. I've added an idea in our portal, so feel free to vote it!
Earlier today I enrolled at Cloud Services Portal and clicked "Start trial" for the "Health Connect Cloud" service. Next step was "Create Deployment". The only deployment size offered was "Micro", so I picked that, completed the other required details and clicked "Create".
In today's landscape, enterprises have grown substantially in scale, amassing vast amounts of data. This data is collected from a plethora of sources including different applications, databases, and other channels. Given the diversity and volume of this data, it's only logical for these enterprises to seek a deeper understanding of what their data entails. Some of the data can be stored in IRIS, and it can be reasonable to be able to add this data to a data lake too.
The Internet now offers many different tools for such tasks, that do not yet support IRIS, but it's achievable.
I do love Global Masters (and all the rewards that I get from it) and one of my favourite activities is answering quiz questions. And just now I've had a really cute question What is the result of: WRITE "99" + "cents"? which brought a smile to my face (because I do love to add questions like this to the tests for my students). This made me think that I would really like to somehow show my appreciation to the author of this question.
When you find yourself in need or desire of learning something new in technology and you face the challenge of embarking on a new venture, what is the appropriate starting point? How do you decide where to begin and how to gradually approach the process, especially when the challenge seems overwhelming?
Myself I read official documentation or try to start with something I know and then learn something new very related.
Has anyone tried AWS Batch with InterSystems IRIS docker images?
I have a noninteractive workload (but it requires internet access from the job to deliver results), so I'm considering using it as a simpler alternative to ECS since Fargate backs both, and that's enough for my use case.
I wonder if anyone tried and cares to share the results, issues, cfn templates.
There is a free ObjectScriptQuality tool for ObjectScript developers who upload solutions on GitHub. This tool helps developers validate ObjectScript code using a variety of rules, based on common code errors.
Documentation here explains how IRIS Portal can be launched in a tab in the VS Code editing area from Server Manager. One limitation though is that if you then perform an action in Portal which needs to invoke a modal message box in the browser (e.g. window.alert() or window.confirm()) this doesn't work.
Our previous code golf ended with an overwhelming win, so now it's time for another one. Parenthesis Hell is a Lisp-like esoteric programming language(esolang).
As a Lisp-like language, the code consists only of nested matched pairs of opened and closed parenthesis.
Your task is to write a method that receives a string of parenthesis and returns 1 if the order of the parenthesis is valid. For example, the string of parenthesis (())() is valid because it contains a matched pair of opened and closed parenthesis at each position. The string ()((()))) is not valid because it contains one unmatched parenthesis.
With rapid evolution of Generative AI, to embrace it and help us improve productivity is a must. Let's discuss and embrace the ideas of how we can leverage Generative AI to improve our routine work.
I want to deploy IRIS apps running in containers in Kubernetes with user accounts configured.
I have a %ZSTART routine which looks for an XML file with Users export data and if the %ZSTART routine finds this file, it imports it. This Users export data can be obtained by running a class method.
I have defined a task which can be scheduled or run on demand. This tasks imports user data from an XM file.
In Kubernetes I can provide a ConfigMap to stage the Users data for the %ZSTART routine.
It's been almost three weeks since the end of the Global Summit 2023 (here is a brief reminder of day 1, day 2 and day 3) and you may want to relieve the excitement or, maybe, wish to see the sessions. Here is your chance to influence the order in which those sessions are published here, on the Developer Community.
Here is a full list of sessions so please write down in the comments the ones you look forward to the most! And we'll do our best to satisfy the demand 😉
In the discussions at https://community.intersystems.com/post/intersystems-studio-deprecated-starting-20232 one notable topic has been that some Studio users make regular use of its facilities for exporting multiple code artifacts (e.g. classes and routines) into a single XML file on the workstation, then exporting that file into a different server namespace.
Hey guys! I'm looking for good people to give a feed back about my article, just access the link below, translate from Brazilian Portuguese to your language if necessary and leave your feed back
If you are working with IRIS 2021+ and you remove all of the built in entries for External Language Servers, there is an unexpected consequence that may prevent you from running an installer to upgrade your version of IRIS. This does appear to be a bug which has been raised with WRC, however there are some people that may have recently removed these settings and then will soon be upgrading their environment and could face this same issue.
In a healthcare setting we've an Ensemble namespace through which passes a key HL7 feed (the ADT feed from our PAS). It is split up, transformed and passed on to multiple downstream systems. We consider the feed going to each downstream system an interface. Each interface is developed as separately as possible - typically as a separate branch of our git repo (which we access via VS Code).
As someone who is new to the world of InterSystems technology, I have been looking for the best resources to learn more about it.
I have heard great things about InterSystems technology, particularly its speed and scalability, and I want to make sure I have a solid understanding of it before diving in further. From what I understand, the official InterSystems courses cover a wide range of topics and are taught by experts in the field.
I got access to the new Bing this morning and thought I would try out some things on it. Below are a series of screenshots of what I searched and the results. Please share your experiences here too.
Such most popular nowadays CI platforms as GitHub and Gitlab, offers the ability to run any docker image as a service, mostly useful for integration tests.
And I could define a GitHub workflow like this for instance, for some of my Python project which, requires the connection to IRIS
A long time ago, I create a package for a String datatype that works with Regular Expression. It is quite a simple solution.
This can work well with packages like the OpenAPI-Suite, where you can then use the "Regular Expression String" as the type for properties of the validator objects where the Swagger contained a Regular Expression.
I am proposing we start a common package of datatypes for use. The package name to use can be provided by the admins.
Please read this when you have the time and keep an open mind. Also, you are welcome to tell me it is a terrible idea.
The main reason for this post
If you look at NPM, it has 1.3 million packages. Now ask yourself, is this an achievement or a nightmare? How many of those packages are no longer supported? How many of those packages break compatibility on version changes? How do you know which one to use?
I'm playing with IRIS interoperability at the moment and it turned out that Data Transformation cannot be the element of production by itself.
It can be called either from data rule or from business process.
But why?
What if I just want to change the message with the transformation and transfer the message somewhere else? Why the overhead with Rule or Business process?
