Hi, we suddenly noticed that one of the edge storage increased by 30% and it was due to ERROR globals which was throwing repeated error for 7 days and it consumed 35GB space. Is there a way to log the storage of edge production on daily basis and compare the increase in storage with previous day and if increase is 5% more than trigger an email to system admit to look why the storage increased suddenly.

Please, advise how to programmatically set "System Mode" value.

Manually this value can be set via Management Portal > System > Configuration > Memory and Startup > System Mode dropdown.

Value can be programmatically obtained via $SYSTEM.Version.SystemMode() , but  I couldn't  find a programmatical way to set it.

Prometheus is one of the monitoring systems adapted for collecting time series data.

Its installation and initial configuration are relatively easy. The system has a built-in graphic subsystem called PromDash for visualizing data, but developers recommend using a free third-party product called Grafana. Prometheus can monitor a lot of things (hardware, containers, various DBMS's), but in this article, I would like to take a look at the monitoring of a Caché instance (to be exact, it will be an Ensemble instance, but the metrics will be from Caché). Good day! Is there an opportunity to debug the ISCAgent behaviour (in Linux)? ISCAgent uses /etc/iscagent/iscagent.conf as configuration file, but in docs I've found a description only for two parameters (port number and interface - http://docs.intersystems.com/latest/csp/docbook/DocBook.UI.Page.cls?KEY=GHA_mirror#GHA_mirror_set_agent). Other parameters I can see by running /usr/local/etc/cachesys/ISCAgentCtrl status:

application_server.port=2188
daemonized=yes
mirroring=on
pid=41850
running=yes
version=2015.2.0.664.

In Cache for Windows (x86-64) 2018.1.3 (Build 414U) I found something very useful

No reason apparently,

to many times executed :

[Database.SparseDBExpansion] Expanding capacity of sparse database /usr/irissys/mgr/iristemp/ by 1000 MB.

no details on audits, no traffic for that, no process to justify this, some ideas ?

Hi, 

I created a task from Management portal  Task manager to use the Ens.Util.Tasks.Purge task . Task set up includes email notification setup for Completion email and error email.

This task is giving an error  and no email is generated: 

I tested all other task types available from Ens.Util.task but all are giving the same error.

Not sure if this Is this a bug or some missing configuration in the task setup ? Anyone noticed any similar issue or any idea how to fix this ?

I'm using HealthShare on Cache 2017.2.  I'm trying to find out how I can get a list of all the custom classes, routines and globals in %SYS namespace (if it's even possible).

We're about to perform an upgrade, and in the docs it mentions needing to check for anything custom in %SYS to avoid important stuff being overwritten.  Some of our solutions have been developed by an external consultancy and we want to make sure that none of their code or data will be affected by the upgrade.

Hi, a client have a installed enviroment with mirror activated, but when you test SSL on webservices you can get an error, not SSL access correctly from browser because certificate problem apparently with TLS Version, someone have a suggestion to reinstall SSL Certificates on mirrors ?

We try simple regenerate Authority an regenerate all certificates, but not worked. Same results.

Since IRIS 2020.1, changed the way how embedded SQL compiled. Now it compiles upon the first execution of such queries.

Is there any way, I could switch that feature back to the previous behavior, or get some more control over it?

We deliver our software as deployed, and we would like to have it well prepared. Another solution would suit us, if we could change the generated classname of the cached query to something which we would be possible to map. At the moment it generates classes %sqlcq.NAMESPACE, but our customers may use different namespaces.

Application licensing enables InterSystems application partners to take advantage of Caché’s licensing capabilities for their own licensing purposes.

Caché manages customer application licenses just as it does Caché/Ensemble and InterSystems application licenses, maintaining usage counts and acquiring and returning user licenses as needed.

Application licenses consumed by a process or a CSP session are automatically released along with the Caché license consumed by the process or session when a process exits, halts or is deleted from the process table, or when a CSP session times out or is deleted.

I'm working on integrating a Cache database into an existing .NET project of mine.  I'm trying to execute certain queries utilizing the Cache ODBC driver.  The first error I ran into was "[S1000] [Cache ODBC][State : S1000][Native Code 417] Access Denied".  The part that's throwing me for a loop though is that the application ran ~200 successful queries before I started getting that.  After some of those Access Denied errors, they turned into "[Cache ODBC][State : S1T00][Native Code 450] Request timed out due to user timeout".  This was all with the regular (2.5?) driver.

You have to enter passwords fewer times and this makes it easier to work with development services and web applications when you're first getting acquainted. And, sometimes, minimal security is more convenient for deploying a developed project or solution. SAM can display information from InterSystems-based instance starting with version 2019.4
 
SAM is only available in container format. You will need the SAM Manager container plus a small set of additional open-source components (Prometheus and Grafana) that are added automatically by the composition file.

 I've started to use Task Schedule function in Caché. But I have two questions about it:

1. I want to run the task as an indepedent, technical user. What is the minimum resources for this user to successfully run the defined task.
2. I disabled the built in user _SYSTEM, as the Tightening Security for an Instance article suggest. But I see that built in task run in the name of _SYSTEM user. For example Switch Journal. How can this work, if the user disabled? Should I use another user for this tasks?

Allow limited durability for demo and development IRIS-Docker-micro-Durability During development of a container based demo I found the need to access a fresh docker
an instance of IRIS image (e.g intersystems/iris-community:2020.2.0.199.0) over and over.
To bypass loading my code repeatedly, I developed this workaround.

Docker support

The principle of a persistent IRIS database outside the container is unchanged.
But now the whole setup is moved into Dockerfile and docker-compose.yml

Prerequisites

Make sure you have git and Docker desktop installed.

One of the topics that comes up often when managing Ensemble productions is disk space:

The database (the CACHE.DAT file) grows in a rate that was unexpected; or the Journal files build up at a fast pace; or the database grows continuously though the system has a scheduled purge of the Ensemble runtime data.

It would have been better if these kind of phenomena would have been observed and accounted for yet at the development and testing stage rather than on a live system.

For this purpose I created a basic framework that could aid in this task.

      We weren't able to start the InterSystems cache server. I attached error screenshot and console log details on below.

JOBTRACE: Timed out waiting for child (6944) to appear in PIDTAB.
Error: ERROR #5001: Cannot start CLNDMN job - Shutting down the system

Please guide me, how we resolve this issue.

The attached code package provides a simple implementation of a web service client that utilizes the USPS Shipping API to normalize  an address.

This code requires the developer to obtain a USPS Shipping API user ID which can be obtained from the USPS shipping API website.  The assigned User Id can either be passed into the web service call as a parameter or can be coded as a parameter into the Request object.

I hope you already know one of my projects Cache Blocks Explorer. I've recently renamed it to Blocks Explorer.

For the recent contest, I've added a new feature, the ability to generate a static picture of any Cache or IRIS database. Like below. Where unique globals have a unique color. This is how looks like inside 9.5GB database. Where 1 pixel represents one block. By link on image you will get even bigger image, with more detalization.
