Hello everyone,

I'm currently working on getting familiar with OAuth2, following this article. Since Part 2 involves using PKI, I decided to implement it as outlined in the article. However, I've run into an issue that I can't seem to resolve, and my searches on Google haven't yielded any useful results.

Here's a brief overview of what I've done so far:

Configuring the PKI Server:

All pods are assigned a Quality of Service (QoS). These are 3 levels of priority pods are assigned within a node.

The levels are as following:

1) Guaranteed: High Priority

2) Burstable: Medium Priority

3) BestEffort: Low Priority

It is a way of telling the kubelet what your priorities are on a certain node if resources need to be reclaimed. This great GIF below by Anvesh Muppeda explains it.

Hey,

I'm testing a REST API that is used for our IRIS Backend with a mobile app (Angular / ionic).

The problem is that, our test environment does not yet have HTTPS capabilities, it's something we're going to set up ASAP, but right now we don't have it set up.

We want to test the API endpoints via a web browser using either a test application built in Angular, or the app itself built with NPM via the browser. This means that the set-cookie headers are being blocked by the browser.

I'm exploring this right now: given a bunch of types defined as Pydantic models, how can I come up with an equivalent %RegisteredObject/%SerialObject and convert to/from (e.g., to support persistence and match validation as much as possible)?

People who know Python better than I do (e.g., your average undergraduate from this decade): is this a stupid idea or a cool idea? Has anyone else done this before?

Linked Stored Procedure Question

Instead of building a BP to execute stored procedures just to insert the data, I figured I would give Linked Stored Procedures a try since all I need to do is insert the data. I have proved in our MS SQL Development environment that it is possible, so I through I could just repoint the Linked Stored Procedure

In this article I'll show you how to set up in your laptop, very quickly, a cluster of IRIS nodes in sharding. It's not the goal of this article neither to talk about sharding in detail nor define a deployment of a production ready architecture, but to show how to set up quickly, in your own machine, a cluster of IRIS instances configured as shard nodes, with which you'll able to play and test this functionality. If you're insterested in knowing more about sharding in IRIS, take a look at the documentation clicking here.

First and foremost, I want to remark that IRIS sharding will allow us 2 things:

  • Define, load and query shard tables, which data will be distributed transparently between the cluster's nodes
  • Define federated tables, which offer a global and composed view of data belonging to different tables that will be physically stored in different distributed nodes

So, as I said, we let for other article playing with shard or federated tables, and just focus now in the previous step, that is, setting up the cluster of shard nodes.

I am receiving the garbled text due to incorrect encoding or decoding. I tried to use the $zconvert function to convert it into the normal text but failed to do that. Can anybody suggest what I have to use to convert that into normal text?

Example: Garbled text that I am getting is "canââ¬â¢t , theyââ¬â¢re".

The Case for IRIS and JavaScript

Introduction

My guess is that most IRIS developers create their applications using its native ObjectScript language or, if using an external language, then most likely using either Java, Python or perhaps C++.

I suspect that only a minority have considered using JavaScript as their language of choice, which, if true, is a great shame, because, In my opinion and experience, JavaScript is the closest equivalent to ObjectScript in terms of its ability to integrate with the IRIS's underlying multi-dimensional database.

InterSystems IRIS 2024 recently introduced the vector types.
This addition empowers developers to work with vector search, enabling efficient similarity searches, clustering, and a range of other applications.
In this article, we will delve into the intricacies of vector types, explore their applications, and provide practical examples to guide your implementation.

I encountered an unexpected behavior while working with the $ZTIMEH and $ZTIME functions, specifically with times between 12:00 and 13:00. Here's what I observed:

W $ZTIMEH("08:50:38.975411826")
Output: 31838

W $ZTIME(31838,1)
Output: 08:50:38

This behavior is correct as $ZTIME returns the expected time of 08:50:38.

However, with the following example:

W $ZTIMEH("12:05:38.975411826")
Output: 338

W $ZTIME(338,1)
Output: 00:05:38

I ask ChatGPT periodically to produce ObjectScript or plain MUMPS code for string manipulation, or for implementing known algorithms etc. Occasionally, it does make mistakes or uses non-existing class members but generally not that bad. Is there any tutorial on the subject of using AI for coding, ideally specifically for ObjectScript/MUMPS? Any AI productivity advice, or tricks you are using, or another AI flavor?

Thanks in advance,
Anna

We are receiving the report in text format and it has special characters like ', - like that in the text. Source system is using the UTF8 encoding format hence the text is showing as ' ' . Is there a way to convert the utf8 to actual character in the DTL.

Thank you,
