When batch inserting data into a table via SQL, I can use the %NOCHECK keyword to avoid checking foreign key integrity. This would be appropriate for cases when the inserted data has been verified by some external process.

However, when inserting via objects, I don't see a way to get the same behavior. Are there any workarounds that use objects for this?

I inherited some legacy MUMPS / ObjectScript code. A code review identified an exclusive NEW and that is not allowed per our coding standards.

The original code contains:

RUN(CALL,DRVNAME)
S $EC=""
S ^TMP($J,"RMPV","DRVNAME")=DRVNAME
N TMPFILE,OLDIO
S OLDIO=$IO
I $G(^TMP("RMPV","SILENT"),1) S IOP="NULL",%ZIS=0 D ^%ZIS I '$G(POP,1) U IO
D INIT^@DRVNAME
D ; scope variables
.N (DUZ,CALL) ; Protect %response
.S IOF="""""",IOM=80,U="^"
.D @CALL

Digital health solution providers face increasing pressure to integrate complex health data systems while ensuring scalability, security, and compliance with standards like HL7 FHIR. Fast Healthcare Interoperability Resources (FHIR) has revolutionized health data exchange by offering a standardized framework that allows diverse health IT systems to communicate effortlessly. But simply adhering to FHIR standards isn’t enough to overcome the intricacies of health data integration. Solution partners must leverage advanced architectural components like FHIR brokers, façades, and repositories to build scalable and efficient solutions. InterSystems offers all the essential features you need to implement FHIR for your health data, whether on-premises, in a public cloud, or as a cloud-based service managed by InterSystems.

Hello, dear colleagues.

I need to connect to a remote JavaGateway from an Ensemble service.

I am trying to use the EnsLib.JavaGateway.Service with a remote host where the JVM is running.

I can successfully ping the remote Java Gateway from EnsLib.JavaGateway.Service, and Ensemble reports that the service status is OK.

There are no network issues, and all necessary ports are accessible.

xDBC error

Hi.

How can I prevent the error:

2024-12-27 08:05:46 [SQLCODE: <-400>:<Fatal error occurred>] [Error: <<READ>XDCall+9^%SYS.DBSRV>] [Location: <$system.IO server loop>] [Client info: <Username: Operator, Node Name: PM_MIP_SRD01, IP Address: 10.40.1.108, Executable Name: Operative.dll, Internal Function: KÂ>] [%protocol: <65>] $Id: //iris/2023.2.0/kernel/common/src/sysio.c#2 $ 3514 121

It seems that this error occours when connection on PDA is lost and established again.

Tnx.

Regards,
Matjaž

Introduction

Businesses often use in-memory databases or key-value stores (caching layers) when applications require extremely high performance. However, in-memory databases incur a high total cost of ownership and have hard scalability limits, incurring reliability problems and restart delays when memory limits are exceeded. In-memory key-value stores share these limitations and introduce architectural complexity and network latency as well.

This article explains why InterSystems IRIS™ data platform is a superior alternative to in-memory databases and key-value stores for highperformance SQL and NoSQL applications.

Taking Performance and Efficiency to the Next Level

InterSystems IRIS is the only persistent database that can match or beat the performance of in-memory databases and caching layers for concurrent data ingestion and analytics processing. It can process incoming transactions, persist the data to disk, and index it for analytics in under one microsecond on commercially available hardware without introducing network latency.

The superior ingest performance of InterSystems IRIS results in part from its multi-dimensional data engine, which allows efficient and compact storage in a rich data structure. Using an efficient, multi-dimensional data model with sparse storage techniques instead of two-dimensional tables, random data access and updates are accomplished with very high performance, fewer resources and less disk capacity. It also provides in-memory, in-process APIs in addition to traditional TCP/IP access APIs to optimize ingest performance.

Securing IRIS Integrations with Mutual TLS (mTLS): A Practical Guide

In today’s enterprise environments, secure communication between systems is not optional—it’s essential. Whether you're integrating InterSystems IRIS with cloud APIs, internal microservices, or third-party platforms, Mutual TLS (mTLS) offers a powerful way to ensure both ends of the connection are authenticated and encrypted.

This post walks through how to configure IRIS for mTLS and how to validate your certificates to avoid common pitfalls.

Customer support questions span structured data (orders, products 🗃️), unstructured knowledge (docs/FAQs 📚), and live systems (shipping updates 🚚). In this post we’ll ship a compact AI agent that handles all three—using:

  • 🧠 Python + smolagents to orchestrate the agent’s “brain”
  • 🧰 InterSystems IRIS for SQL, Vector Search (RAG), and Interoperability (a mock shipping status API)

This will be a short article about Python dunder methods, also known as magic methods.

What are Dunder Methods?

Dunder methods are special methods in Python that start and end with double underscores (__). They allow you to define the behavior of your objects for built-in operations, such as addition, subtraction, string representation, and more.

Some common dunder methods include:

I am making a FHIR request against Epic, in when I get the Response back using "fromDao" I am extracting the stream into HS.FHIRModel.R4.Patient. However, the patient's name comes back as name within a list that references HS.FHIRModel.R4.SeqOfHumanName.

  • How do I extract the name from HS.FHIRModel.R4.SeqOfHumanName?
  • Do I have to then do another "fromDao" to pull the list into string format?
  • How do I navigate around the lists that are in a FHIRModel response, to extract the string values?

If you're migrating from Oracle to InterSystems IRIS—like many of my customers—you may run into Oracle-specific SQL patterns that need translation.

Take this example:

SELECT (TO_DATE('2023-05-12','YYYY-MM-DD') - LEVEL + 1) AS gap_date
FROM dual
CONNECT BY LEVEL <= (TO_DATE('2023-05-12','YYYY-MM-DD') - TO_DATE('2023-05-02','YYYY-MM-DD') + 1);

In Oracle:
