Could anyone please explain why Caché has a %STARTSWITH function while it supports ANSI SQL "LIKE"?

Often we need to deploy some data along with code pieces of the application.

And for InterSystems IRIS developers the question could sound: "How can I deploy the data I have in globals?"

Here I want to suggest to you one of the approaches - deploying global data using the ZPM package manager.

In the first installment of this article series, we discussed how to read a “big” chunk of data from the raw body of an HTTP POST method and save it to a database as a stream property of a class. Now let’s look at how to save such data and metadata in JSON format.

Interoperability Read Only access

In companies, most of the time, we have test, stage and production environments.

It is very common that we, the developers, do not have the right to modify or touch the production directly because all the modifications must be traced in a versioning tool and tested before a production release.

However, a read access to the production (especially to the traces) can allow us to better understand a possible bug.

That's why I propose this ZPM module that creates a new role in IRIS that allows access to the productions and this only in read-only with access to the visual traces.

Given the following requirements about a WebSocket client:

• Start with the production automatically
• Try to re-establish a lost connection periodically
• Send an Ens.Request to another production item when a message is received from the WebSocket server

This is the eighth in a series of releases that are part of the developer preview program for 2022.2 Future preview releases are expected to be updated biweekly and we will add features as they are ready. Many updates, fixes and enhancements have been added in 2022.2, in SQL management, cloud integration, Kafka and JMS adapters, the SQL Loader, and other areas.

I did some experiments on my local machine and found out that IRIS seems to associate each request (eg: CSP request) to a dedicated process named IrisDB.exe

This process has 3 threads, and one of them seems to be the main working thread (that will the handle request).

If I spawn many concurrent requests, the number of IrisDB processes on my local machine will grow (to make sure each request can be handled in parallel).

It seems there is a limit : it will create no more than 64 processes to handle requests (eg: even if 100 concurrent requests are send to IRIS).

Lately, I've been spending a lot of time with Visual Studio Code (VSC), and I've been wondering if there's a terminal or a panel within VSC that acts like the Intersystems Studio Output panel, which serves both as an input and output window and allows the execution of ObjectScript commands.
