InterSystems IRIS is a Complete Data Platform
InterSystems IRIS gives you everything you need to capture, share, understand, and act upon your organization’s most valuable asset – your data.
As a complete platform, InterSystems IRIS eliminates the need to integrate multiple development technologies. Applications require less code, fewer system resources, and less maintenance.

Announcement Neerav Verma · Aug 4, 2020

IRIS is an excellent option for machine learning projects with massive data operation scenarios, because the following reasons:

1. Supports the use of shards to scale the data repository, just like MongoDB.
2. Supports the creation of analytical cubes, this in association with sharding allows to have volume with performance.
3. Supports collecting data on a scheduled basis or in real time with a variety of data adapter options.
4. It allows to automate the entire deduplication process using logic in Python or ObjectScript.
5.

This is the third post of a series explaining how to create an end-to-end Machine Learning system.

Training a Machine Learning Model

When you work with machine learning is common to hear this work: training. Do you what training mean in a ML Pipeline? Training could mean all the development process of a machine learning model OR the specific point in all development process that uses training data and results in a machine learning model.

So Machine Learning Models are not equal Common Applications?

In the very last point it looks like a normal application.

Hi Developers!

As you know the application errors live in ^ERRORS global. They appear there if you call:

d e.Log()

in a Catch section of Try-Catch.

With @Robert Cemper's approach, you can now use SQL to examine it.

Inspired by Robert's module I introduced a simple IRIS Analytics module which shows these errors in a dashboard:

Hi Devs!

A few months ago I raised a discussion on the naming convention for ZPM modules.

And you free to put your name or your organization name for the packages you want to have your personal or company's brand.

But if you contribute to community, we suggested to have "community." package for all such libraries.

But the name is too long.

What if we use "isc." instead?  Which can be read as "isc ->InterSystemsCommunity". Short and unique.

What do you think?

Setting up Management Portal Help Pages for Full WebServers

On each page of the System Management Portal, there is a “Help” button.  This takes users to an article in documentation that describes the page functionality and use.

Caché provides local documentation for all of these articles.

InterSystems IRIS does not provide local documentation.  Instead, the Help button will redirect users to the articles in the online documentation at docs.intersystems.com.

My VS Code plugin "InterSystems Objectscript" upgraded to version 0.8.7 but the server settings no longer visible in extension settings and can no longer connect to our InterSystems server.

What has chnaged and how do we set the server connectio up? I checked the JSON file and it still has the settings as it was before but it is not connecting.

Screenshot of the settings json and then on the left a timer icon on the InterSystems icon and blue line running from left to right at top as it tries to conenct to server. I downgraded to version 0.8.

The offer of ZPM is growing daily and the short names and
acronyms of the offer are sometimes hard to understand and
also hard to type with my lazy fingers.

So I decided to have

  • a listing with the descriptions from the repository,
  • split in short junks to avoid backscroll,
  • controlled forward / backward scrolling,
  • the option to select my packages by number,
  • to install or uninstall with limited typing.

It runs with do ^zpmshow

A snapshot from the screen:

USER>d ^zpmshow

1 analyzethis 1.1.4 -- not github --
2 apps.rest 1.0.0 -- no descripition --
3 bitmap-adoption 1.0.

Hello Community,
I hope you're going well.

I am programming a daily reporting that will send by e-mail when people will add a dashboard as favorite by clicking on the star :

I asked Intersystems WRC on how to automatically generate a report with some line coding, but I heard there is no way to do this without a headless Browser.

I downloaded google-chrome to use the "--headless"  and "--print-to-pdf" function , to print the HTML content of my dashboard into a PDF.  ( I will use $ZF function to launch the generation ).

GA releases are now available for the first version (v1.0) of InterSystems System Alerting and Monitoring (InterSystems SAM for short)

InterSystems SAM v1.0 provides a modern monitoring solution for InterSystems IRIS based products. It allows high-level views of clusters and single-node drilled down metrics-visualization together with alerts notifications.  This first version provides visualization for more than one hundred InterSystems IRIS kernel metrics, and users can extend the default-supplied Grafana template to their liking.

V1.0 is meant to be a simple and intuitive baseline.

This is a sample to use %JSON.Adaptor class available in IRIS to produce a snapshot of your object.

The sample consists of 2 classes that are variations of what was known in Caché/SAMPLES as Sample.Person.
Be aware that the possibilities are limited by %JSON.Adapter and how you make use of it.

Once in place, you create some test data by Populate().
You select an object and take a snapshot.
You apply changes to your object and take another snapshot.
And see the difference.

BINGO!

It's also an example of a customized SystemFunction extension (ZZISJSON) in Caché & IRIS
This time it is to be included in %ZLANGF00.mac

A JSON string is mostly imported from a file or over REST
You rely on a clean and compatible structure. This is the check.

required: ZPretty.mac

demo

USER>ZWRITE jsn
jsn="{"Name":"Li,Robert K.","SSN":"672-92-9664","DOB":"1975-01-12","Home":{"Street":"986 Washington Blvd","City":"Boston","State":"PA","Zip":"95802"},"Office":{"Street":"6012 First Place","City":"Reston","State":"MT","Zip":"77739"},"Spouse":{"Name":"Avery,Zelda H.

t's also an example for a customized command extension (ZZJSON) in IRIS

IRIS has a nice %JSON.Formatter class.
But for debugging it is not really handy.
see:

ZWRITE js1
js1="{""Name"":""Cunningham,John C."",""SSN"":""294-11-9150"",""DOB"":""1933-01-08"",""Home"":{""Street"":""4249 Ash Street"",""City"":""Tampa"",""State"":""MD"",""Zip"":""30176""},""FavoriteColors"":\[""White"",""Red"",""Green""]}"

so you proceed for the most simple case

set formatter=##class(%JSON.Formatter).%New()
do formatter.Format(js1)
{
  "Name":"Cunningham,John C.

We are using the mentioned password function and we need to know if is in line with the NIST recommendations regarding strength, https://nvlpubs.nist.gov/nistpubs/FIPS/NIST.FIPS.180-4.pdf

Reading interystems docummentation is not 100% clear for me as it states "(See RSA Laboratories Public-Key Cryptography Standards #5 and Federal Information Processing Standards Publications 180-4 and 198-1 for more information.)"

This is my introduction to a series of posts explaining how to create an end-to-end Machine Learning system.

Starting with one problem

Our IRIS Development Community has several posts without tags or wrong tagged. As the posts keep growing the organization of each tag and the experience of any community member browsing the subjects tends to decrease.

First solutions in mind

We can think some usual solutions for this scenario, like:

  • Take a volunteer to read all posts and fix the mistakes.
  • Pay a company to fix all mistakes.
  • Send an email to each post writer to review the texts from past.

Currently, the process of using machine learning is difficult and requires excessive consumption of data scientist services. AutoML technology was created to assist organizations in reducing this complexity and the dependence on specialized ML personnel.

AutoML allows the user to point to a data set, select the subject of interest (feature) and set the variables that affect the subject (labels). From there, the user informs the model name and then creates his predictive or data classification model based on machine learning.

This is the second post of a series explaining how to create an end-to-end Machine Learning system.

Exploring Data

The InterSystems IRIS already has what we need to explore the data: an SQL Engine! For people who used to explore data in csv or text files this could help to accelerate this step. Basically we explore all the data to understand the intersection (joins) which should help to create a dataset prepared to be used by a machine learning algorithm.

I send ORUs to a process where a transform is applied before sending the message to a process where the routing is handled. A recent request was made that when OBR:25="D" the message is also be faxed with transforms that have some similarities to the original, but not exactly the same. I copied the DTC, made the alterations, and created a separate rule to handle it. However, when I run a message through with a "D" in OBR:25, it is only sent to the routing process once.

Following up the previous part, it's time to take advantages for IntegratedML VALIDATION MODEL statement, to provide information in order to monitor your ML models. You can watch it in action here

The code presented here was derived from examples provided by either InterSystems IntegragedML Template or IRIS documentation, my contribution was mainly mashing up such codes. It's a simple example intended to be a start for discussions and future works.

Note: The code presented here is for explanation purpose only.
