Working on implementation FHIR to my project, I found interesting project HAPI-FHIR, which could help me to quickly launch my FHIR api server with InterSystems Caché as a storage, because this projects uses Hibernate to connect to database, as an example they use DerbyDB. I tried to change settings to use InterSystems Caché, but unfortunately it does not work and throw some errors inside HIbernate. As I found in Caché documentation, I have not some many options, I just have to set Cache dialect, and set database url.  This projects uses Hibernate 5.

I finally figured out how to get JWT token using set x = ##class(%SYS.OAuth2.Authorization).GetAccessTokenClient("medbank","openid fhirUser",.prop,.err).

I also found iris-fhir-client app on Open Exchange. I registered Epic sandbox server, but I cannot list resources. I suspect I need to integrate authorization / authentication. How do I do this with irisfhirclient py?

Hi colleages!

This is very easy to setup a FHIR server in InterSystems IRIS for Health.

It could be even one IPM command with this package:

USER>zpm "install fhir-server"

But which FHIR portal could you recommend to use?

I used to work with this one, which is very easy to install too:

USER>zpm "install fhir-portal"

but it doesn't work at the moment and I'm not sure if its main contributors @José Pereira and @Henrique Dias plan to support it.

What do you use? What do you recommend? Ideally installable with IPM package manager. Thanks!

Cures Act USCDI/ C-CDAv21 certification. I am looking for SDA3 examples for Newman-Bates-Kid/registry settings/advices on how to learn / whatever is helpful. InterSystems  xsl files are clean but I am not working very often with xsl. I am mainly looking at Provenance and Clinical Notes, the 2 last errors we have. InterSystems documentation, so far I know, is very poor: only classes and some pages. Support has a small knowledge about SDA3 -> C-CDAv21 even if they try very hard to help.

Of course I am wondering if my company is using an almost dead technology. Is everybody on fhir now?

I am receiving a FHIR bundle and I need to extract data from it and wondered if there was an easier way of doing this rather than looping through the data as suggested in Working with FHIR Data | FHIR Support in InterSystems Products | InterSystems IRIS for Health 2023.2.

Ideally it would be great if there was a DTL the accept STU3 and then extract the data from there and I did try using the HS.FHIR.DTL.vSTU3.Model.Resource.Bundle class (depreciated) but that only allowed me to see the data at the bundle level and not the resources within it (entry).

Question Mike Yackanich · May 14, 2021

I have an interoperability production that functions as a FHIR proxy. I have a need to add an HTTP Header value to the outbound request. I've subclassed HS.FHIRServer.Interop.HTTPOperation, but I cannot find a way to add an HTTP Header to the request. The HTTP class used in HS.FHIRServer.Interop.HTTPOperation is HS.FHIRServer.RestClient.HTTP. That RestClient class does not seem to expose or allow modification of the actual HttpRequest.

I'm used to using %Net.HttpRequest and doing a request.SetHeader(key, value) - but that isn't available - or I can't find it - when using HS.FHIRServer.

I was wondering if anyone had a way to automate creating the Query String for a FHIR Request?

Using HS.FHIRServer.Interop.Request in my development I have to specify the following...

I was wondering.... if my source had variable number of fields if there was a way to automate the build for the QueryString when doing a Patient Search?

I am trying to replicate a way to use FHIR as a way to query the EMR instead of using a MS SQL Stored Procedure that is populated via HL7 ADT to query.

Working on a project where I'm needing to make FHIR calls from my HealthConnect Interop production to Epic.

My issue is I'm not able to construct a valid JWT for the OAuth token retrieval that Epic will accept. I have the below code where I'm able to create a valid header and payload that I'm base64URL encoding and then trying to sign with my .pem private key file. However, Epic is not liking the signature portion of my JWT.

As such, I wanted to present my code to see if I'm performing the signature steps correctly? I've seen some posts where the %Net.

Hi,

We have some concerns on how to implement FHIR, do we do facade?, how do we get resources?, what is a resource?, is a resource "Patient" or an instance of a patient?, How can we have a FHIR repository AND send the patient details to healthshare MPI?

Has anyone correctly created a FHIR server that has custom methods?, handles "normal" methods and forwards onto Healthshare MPI , processing the response and creates a accurate FHIR response back to the calling system.

I am making a FHIR request against Epic, in when I get the Response back using "fromDao" I am extracting the stream into HS.FHIRModel.R4.Patient. However, the patient's name comes back as name within a list that references HS.FHIRModel.R4.SeqOfHumanName.

  • How do I extract the name from HS.FHIRModel.R4.SeqOfHumanName?
  • Do I have to then do another "fromDao" to pull the list into string format?
  • How do I navigate around the lists that are in a FHIRModel response, to extract the string values?

Hi,

Most of my development experience is with HL7v2 interfaces and I don't have a background in web development and I'm very weak with javascript.

I'm looking for suggestions of learning resources to learn FHIR  and 'SMART on FHIR' (JavaScript, OpenID connect, OAuth2) for developers like myself who mostly do HL7v2 integrations - but see FHIR as the future - and want to develop their skills!

I've found these

Dear,

I'm trying to configure a new interface that reads HL7, transform them into FHIR messages and then send POST or PUT or DELETE depending on HL7 doc type.

1-I added an HL7 TCP service that reads ADTs messages

2a-Send ADTs to a process to transform them into SDA  (using the following command:  do ##class(HS.Gateway.HL7.HL7ToSDA3).GetSDA(request,.con))

2b-Extract the patient MRN and add it to the AdditionalInfo property  (using the following request message class: HS.Message.XMLMessage)

3-Send the SDA message to the built in process: HS.FHIR.DTL.Util.HC.SDA3.FHIR.Process.

Hello Community,

I am working on creating a FHIR bundle with Practitioner resources inside of a BPL business process. Data source is a cache database table containing business partner data objects.
Part of the implementation is a loop over all new or updated data objects. For each element a SAP call is made to retrieve more information and add it to the target resource. As there was no last run on first start, approx. 130000 objects are initially to be exported. After the first run, there would not be more than 100 to be updated on each run.

Hello everyone,

I am working with InterSystems IRIS and seeking guidance on how to perform specific tasks related to the FHIR SQL Builder using commands or code, rather than the graphical user interface (GUI). The specific tasks I am trying to accomplish are:

  1. Creating Analyses: What is the recommended method or class in ObjectScript to analyze data in the FHIR repository?
  2. Transformation Specifications: How can I programmatically create transformation specifications? Is there a specific class or a series of commands for this?

I am receiving a FHIR response bundle back with a resource of patient. Using fromDao, I attempted to take the stream and put it into FHIRModel.R4.Patient but it is not mapping correctly. When I attempt to take FHIRModel.R4.Patient and write it out using toString(), all I am seeing is the resource

{"resourceType":"Patient"}

so the response is not mapping correctly to FHIRModel.R4.Patient. How have others handled this? Do I need to translate it to an SDA since it does fit the model format?

Question Surya Sekhar Yerram · Mar 17, 2017

Hello Greetings-

I am exploring on converting HL7 to FHIR.

1. I saw there are built in DTLs “FHIR.FromSDA” and “FHIR.ToSDA” to convert SDA -> FHIR and FHIR -> SDA. Similarly Do Intersystems have DTLs for HL7 -> FHIR and FHIR -> HL7?

2. The reason why I am asking is, I see in HSLIB namespace HS->GateWay->HL7->HL7toSDA3 and HS->GateWay->SDA3->SDA3toHL7 DTLs. Like-wise I am trying to locate HL7 -> FHIR and FHIR -> HL7. Please help me to locate them

3. If there are no built-in DTLs for converting HL7 -> FHIR and FHIR -> HL7, what is the process to achieve this?

Thanks much in-advance.

Thanks,

Surya

Question Pietro Di Leo · Jun 13, 2024

Hello everyone,

Recently, I've been working on a Business Process that processes a large JSON FHIR message containing up to 50k requests in an array within the JSON.

Currently, the code imports the JSON as a dynamic object from the original message stream, obtains an iterator from it, and processes each request one at a time in a loop.

The performance meets the requirements, even with much larger requests than the one exposed above.

Hi,

I'm using the iris for health community edition and I cannot seem to get the FHIR server configuration UI to show up.  I was able to create a FHIR server programaticlly but none of the user interface features that the installation guide talks about are available.  Once I was created the server I was able to see a Bulk FHIR Coordinator in the management portal, ut that's it.  Are the UI features not available in the community edition or do they need to be enabled somehow?

This is the guide that I am using   https://docs.intersystems.com/irisforhealth20251/csp/docbook/DocBook.UI.Page.cls?KEY=HXFHIRINS_server_install_new#HXFHIRINS_server_install_new_portal

Question Rob Hughes · Oct 25, 2022

Hi All,
I am a product owner for a 3rd party healthcare product.
We have built FHIR integrations with Cerner and EPIC using their FHIR sandboxes and would like to do the same for Trakcare.
Essentially we can lookup a patient record on the FHIR sandbox and import their demographics into our product. Switch out the sandbox credentials for production and we can integrate directly into the customers data.
Does a similar service exist for Trakcare?
I am new to the InterSystems ecosystem and am struggling to fathom which service does what.
