Hi, Community!

We've updated Developer Community (DC) portal and here are some good news.

Now you can insert in your post highlighted parts of code. It works with help of highlight.js library.

To illustrate it I took some code snippets from Fabian's article.

Method OnPreServer() As %Status
{
 set ..SharedConnection=1
 set room=$GET(%request.Data("room",1),"default")
 set:room="" room="default"
 if (..WebSocketID'="")
  {
   set ^CacheTemp.Chat.WebSockets(..WebSocketID)=""
   set ^CacheTemp.Chat.Room(..WebSocketID)=room }
 else
  {
   set ^CacheTemp.Chat.Error($INCREMENT(^CacheTemp.Chat.Error),"no websocketid defined")=$HOROLOG
  }
 Quit $$$OK
}

Hello all.

I think the forum experience is great as whole, but it could improve even more if we had somewhere to share our ideas. So that's why I'm creating a thread dedicated for that purpose. Maybe this way someone from InterSystems could catch something good?

When I'm searching across the community I find lots of interesting questions sometimes with
excellent answers and suggestions. Quite often It's more than one solution.
Then I'm mostly missing an indication which solution worked or that nothing worked at all or the case was dropped.

I understand a community as partners working together, sharing experience and knowledge.
Many participants seem to have the same understanding and share their results.

But a surprising high number of participants are just CONSUMERS not giving any feedback or sharing a result.
This is quite disappointing to me. Sometimes these consumers react on a reminder.

The key event to raise that subject in public was: Getting no reaction at all. Even with reminder.
Following the questions of this specific consumer I found that no question ever got useful feedback

Here in Community I use the WYSIWYG Text format control to answer questions and other quick text entries.

But for longer posts when I want formatting or if I am building incrementally over several days I use the Plain text (supports markdown) control because it's quicker and easier to post an article I have written offline. In this post I share my workflow and a set of tools to publish long read posts.

Hi, Community!

For those developers who are attending Global Summit 2017 this year: you have an opportunity to share your solutions, framework, and experience with the rest GS attendees and Developer Community.

On Monday 11th we would have Developer Community Sessions in Tech Exchange Open House (see the agenda).

Every presenter would have 10 minutes for slides and 5 minutes for questions. So we have 6 slots available at the moment.

We would have a live stream of the event on DC YouTube so you would be able to watch it and ask questions in comments to the streaming over Internet.

Hello community!

At the global summit in Phoenix, we (Lite Solutions) will be presenting a tool performing static code analysis on ObjectScript source files. You can see it in action at this URL:

https://demo.cachequality.com

Technically, the tool is a language plugin over SonarQube (http://sonarqube.org) and consists of three main parts:

  • parsing the language,
  • collecting metrics,
  • collecting issues.

The third point is where we kindly request for feedback.

Explanation: issues are the result of rules being triggered by inspecting the source files. But while we do have some experience with the language, this experience is too "fresh" for us to accurately estimate the severity/time to fix of such issues. The list of rules, along with their severity and time to fix can be found here

Hello everyone,

From now till the 25th of december each day 2 programming problems to sharpen your programming skills.

http://adventofcode.com/

Theme this year:

The night before Christmas, one of Santa's Elves calls you in a panic. "The printer's broken! We can't print the Naughty or Nice List!" By the time you make it to sub-basement 17, there are only a few minutes until midnight. "We have a big problem," she says; "there must be almost fifty bugs in this system, but nothing else can print The List. Stand in this square, quick! There's no time to explain; if you can convince them to pay you in stars, you'll be able to--" She pulls a lever and the world goes blurry

I know this has been suggested before but I wanted to bring it up again.

It would be very nice if we could "accept" an answer to our questions which would result in the question showing "answered" in the index and possibly move the "accepted answer" to the top of the answer chain.

I noticed a lot of sites these days support use of Gravatar user profile pictures so your profile picture can follow you around from site to site, could we support this here?

 http://en.gravatar.com/

Also there appears to be some HTML bug in the user profile edit page, when I click on the 'edit' tab I see options to edit the profile for a fraction of a second before this closes and I am unable to edit anything.
