While and for are pretty similar, but sometimes you need to do a not recommended thing - change cycle boundaries.

In this situation while and for are different. For calculates boundaries once per run and while calculates boundaries on every iteration.

Consider this code sample:

set x = 5
for i=1:1:x {
     write "i: ", i,", x: ", x,!
     set x = x+1
}

You'll get this output:

i: 1, x: 5
i: 2, x: 6
i: 3, x: 7
i: 4, x: 8
i: 5, x: 9

Compare to while cycle:

set i = 1
set x = 5
while (i<=x) {
    write "i: ", i,", x: ", x,!
    set x = x+1
    set i = i+1
}

Launching IRIS Using Docker

This brief document will walk through the steps to launch IRIS community edition using Docker on the MAC. For those new to Docker, the first two pages explain how to install Docker, and run some basic commands that will be needed to get the IRIS community edition running. Often we need to use relatively small arrays with constants, static arrays in algorithms, etc where we need to do something with each element of an array. There are several ways to deal with it in ObjectSctipt. 

Previously I used to use globals, locals, PPG for this but not so long time ago figured out that %List is a way too handy.

Indeed, suppose we have an array of months and need to set up and use it in our code.

I am under the impression that inside HealthShare you can Services, Processes, and Operations. The service takes incoming data, the processes can process that data, and then the operations can send that data out.

I am curious if anyone has any experience, guides, or advice on how I can send data to a service using a Java application. I intend for the data to be in XML format. I am also curious if I succeed at picking up the data in the service, how I send the data back to the Java application using an Operation.

As of now I am attempting to get this to work on a local environment.

In this cases $zcvt is your friend, the three argument form specifically.

Hello!  I have basic web services application that java clients connect to the cache web services.  Using the browser, the user enters in the following url.

which runs a soap method called FoiaApp30.   I am not sure how to add https  security to the web service calls.  I have reviewed documentation pertaining configuring SST/TTL configuration and other information.   Can somebody please help me out on what I need to do?

My initial thoughts are that we would have three repositories.  One for DEV, TEST and PROD.

I need to know the current rss memory consumption. On earlier Cache versions I used this method:

The issue is that docker-compose is looking for the file with name 'dockerfile'

Are there any #IF constrations in a dockerfile syntax? 

Commenting works but sometimes it's more than one line.

I have a repository that I want to have in my /home/centos7/ directory, but it appears that Cache cannot access files there. Is that really the case? 

It seems like this is the case because in System Management Portal, when I try to up a new database in /home/centos7/, there aren't any directories listed, even if I add a custom one. Is Cache blocked out from this directory, and are there any others that Cache doesn't have the permission to access?

Hello! I'm sending get request. When send the request bellow

I get http status 200, but should get 410 status. Since the parameters passed are not valid. 

If I send request differently as below, I get http status 410, which is correct.

In many projects I was faced with storing hierarchical data (tree) in classes.
By tree, I mean such data, where each node has a parent node — an object of the same class.
Many examples of such data can be given. For example, a catalog in the online store. Suppose that this online store sells books, in this case, the category tree might look like this:

The number in front of the name is the category ID.
For storage, you can create classes:

The MyApp.Category class  is used to store the category tree and contains the property “Parent” - reference to the same class.

I'm looking to set up monitoring for several interfaces. I understand that I can set an Inactivity Timeout. However, obviously there are messages coming through more frequently during certain hours than other hours. 

Is there a way to set an Inactivity Timeout for each hour of the day instead of one value that is used all day long?

I have  a program that displays the current running processes to the screen. I need to have a program execute that display program and capture the results to a file. The display program does pause at the bottom of each page waiting for an 'enter' to go to the next page.

Note( the display program will not successfully compile on the current system but it does work)

As you know there are two (at least) ways to get the stored value of the property of InterSystems IRIS class if you know the ID of an instance (or a record).

1. Get it by as a property of an instance with "Object access":

2. Get it as a value of a column of the record with "SQL access":

How can I remove elements from $lb property? Specifically last element?
$list does not work with $lb properties.
$listupdate can't remove elements
The only solution I found is a temp variable and $list, but isn't there something better?
