I know that people who are completely new to VS Code, Git, Docker, FHIR, and other tools can sometimes struggle with setting up the environment. So I decided to write an article that walks through the entire setup process step by step to make it easier to get started.

Wanted to share something I learned recently while working on a problem. We needed to add and change some Business Hosts in one of our edge productions.

In the past, we simply added the production class to CCR and then spreading it around. But there was a problem because different developers were working on different things, and we only wanted to include only the relevent production changes onto the CCR.

We are looking at what we need to do to migrate from our current usage of Zen reports to InterSystems Reports. One of the hurdles for us is figuring out ways to interact with InterSystems reports programmatically from ObjectScript routines. There is a Java API for it, but it is possible to generate a report from InterSystems reports to a stream object in ObjectScript without diving into Java by using a %Net.HttpRequest. I have recently been deploying an IRIS for Health image on a Docker with a preconfigured Webgateway image and I have come across the problem of the SSL configurations that allow us to connect to the IRIS instance using HTTPS and going through our Webgateway.

Until now I had always deployed IRIS for Health with a Community license, which still has the Private Web Server installed, so I only needed to configure the Webgateway connection with the deployed IRIS instance:

To make this demo useful I start 2 background jobs that simply write sequentially
to a dedicated global. A common control method signals for a synchronous start.
Similar a common stop & view interrupts data feeding.

Git stores complete history - meaning you would never lose your files, even if they are deleted, they are still available. InterSystems FAQ rubric

There is no need to recompile the routines after the version upgrade, but since the version update overwrites %SYS, user-created INT and OBJ format routines (*.INT,*.OBJ) in %SYS will be deleted. Therefore, you need to be careful.

MAC, INT and OBJ routines with the following names are not deleted.

%Z*.INT, %z*.INT, Z*.INT,z*.INT
%Z*.OBJ, %z*.OBJ, Z*.OBJ,z*.OBJ

Please note that classes/CSPs need to be compiled after upgrading.
