Introduction

Twilio is a great tool for programmatically initiating and managing phone calls. In this example we'll go over basic account setup, create a Cache Class to manage our interaction with the Twilio API, and initiate a phone call from the Cache Terminal.

The full Class used in this example is available on GitHub as well.

tl;dr I have discovered that using $THIS in a very specific way will make persistent objects go stale.

I found that it only happens when using $get on an array that contains the OID reference of $THIS. I assume that this is an unwanted feature and have raised a WRC. The problem can be recreated following the steps below, I have also posted the workaround that I am currently testing and looks to be working fine.

I don't know what a problem with my cache cube terminal, but cyrillic text is not displayed correctly.

I have some terminal program with cyrillic menus, dialogs and other text and all those items are displayed wrong (unknown symbols like on the image).

How can I solve this problem?

I get a third party routine which outputs some messages to standard output during execution.

Is it possible that I could direct the messages to other device so my terminal would never see this messages?

I need to get the source code of a class installed on a remote server. I have no Studio or Atelier access to it but I can manage REST and Web terminal access.

What is the easiest way for me to make it?

When working at the Caché command prompt I sometimes want to run an operating system command on the server host. By prefixing my command line with ! or $ I can do this with ease. The following examples are from 2017.1 on Windows, but the feature is available on all versions and platforms:

I need to execute a single csession command which calls a multi-parameter routine, such as ^SECURITY. This will be to do things such as create databases, resources, etc. (see below). When I run the command all at once, I get a PARAMETER error.

I want to online backup one Caché database by windows bat, I find some article from the online documentation about terminal script and the ^DBACK tool and External Entry Points for ^DBACK, so I can invoke the External Entry Points for ^DBACK from terminal script like this: send: Do BACKUP^DBACK<CR>

Is there other better way for backup database from bat/script?

How to run cache programs(studio) from the command prompt?

Has anyone found an Eclipse plug-in that provides the capability to connect to a Caché server and give the user a way to write SQL queries using the tables from that server? I'm picturing something like a "WinSQL"-client built as an Eclipse plugin.

I've found and tried the following, but I couldn't get it to connect to my local Caché instance.

Terminal says "Unable to open Registry key 'SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\CommonFilesDir.1" when I execute $$Register^SNMP().

For monitoring purposes I want to use SNMP in Ensemble. One of the steps I have to do is to use the method $$Register^SNMP() in the terminal "%SYS" namespace. This is mentioned in a Intersystems Docs page.

If you deal with multiple instances of Caché / Ensemble / HealthShare and sometimes have to work at the Terminal command prompt, did you know that you can easily add extra information to that prompt which may help prevent you running a command on the wrong instance?
