Making a Chart using Intersystems IRIS + Python

How to use the IRIS Native API in Python to access globals and plot some charts.

Why Python?

With a large adoption and use in the world, Python have a great community and a lot of accelerators | libraries to deploy any kind of application.

So, I know that I can return a SQL Error message from my SQL Procedure written in ObjectScript, with code like this

$ cat <<EOF | irissqlcli iris://_SYSTEM:SYS@localhost:1972/USER
CREATE or REPLACE PROCEDURE test()
LANGUAGE OBJECTSCRIPT
{
 SET %sqlcontext.%SQLCODE = 400
 SET %sqlcontext.%ROWCOUNT = -1
 SET %sqlcontext.%Message = "test error message"
};

CALL test();

EOF
[SQLCODE: <-400>:<Fatal error occurred>]
[Location: <SPFunction>]
[%msg: <test error message>]

But I did not find how to do it with Python. I can't find %sqlcontext variable available there

We have a rule to disable a user account if they have not logged in for a certain number of days. IRIS Audit database logs many events such as login failures for example. It can be configured to log successful logins as well. We have IRIS clusters with many IRIS instances. I like to run queries against audit data from ALL IRIS instances and identify user accounts which have not logged into ANY IRIS instance.

Build Python bind

I'm testing with an application I'm writing in python.
But I noticed that the pythonbind3 library will only work on the same machine where the cache is running. Is there really such a dependency?

I'm trying to run the examples that are in the / dev / python / samples3 folder, but they only work if I set "LD_LIBRARY_PATH" with the path to the cache installation folder.

But... I have this error when LD_LIBRARY_PATH is empty:

Hi Community,

We are pleased to invite all the developers to the upcoming InterSystems Python Contest Kick-off Webinar! The topic of this webinar is dedicated to the Python contest.

In this webinar, we’ll present two templates to start working with Embedded Python :

  1. What is Embedded Python and Jupyter;
  2. Embedded Python with Interoperability (PEX hacked to use Embedded Python).

As always, our experts will answer the questions on how to develop, build, and deploy Python solutions using InterSystems IRIS.

Date & Time: Monday, February 7 – 12:00 PM EDT

Speakers:
🗣 @Guillaume Rongier, InterSystems Sales Engineer

I have a python script that is pulling the cache instance key expiration date ( KeyExpirationDate() ) which comes back as an integer. With the queryscript function - $ZDATE(73284) I can derive the actual expiration date. Is there a manner or method of creating an equivalent Python script that will convert the integer return by the KeyExpirationDate() method into a date string?

Hello to all developers and IRIS users.
I am submitting to the competition a project for an alternative IRIS management portal that I have long wanted to create. The project was implemented on the Django framework and the intersystems_irispython-3.2.0-py3-none-any.whl library using native IRIS. The Django project is integrated with the telegram messenger and can be launched from a docker container or directly.

A framework yes, but a suitable framework

How can IRIS productions be deployed more quickly and with greater peace of mind?

The aim of interoperability productions is to enable you to connect systems in order to transform and route messages between them. To connect systems, you develop, configure, deploy and manage productions that integrate several software systems.

I have developed a process that pulls data elements from a cache instance using the tools provided with the "intersys.pythonbind3" import. This is a windows box. After validating the process, the next step is to install the process on a site (Windows) that does not have an installed version of cache and access the cache instance remotely. But, since intersys.pythonbind3 is part of the cache install, I am not sure what to do to allow this process to function because of the missing import.

Returning values with python

Why am I writting this?

Last year I made an article for starters on using embedded python. Later, it started a little discussion on how to return values with python and I found some interesting observations that are worth writing a little article. Also, hopefully I can reach more people by writing this.

Possible situations

There are two things you'll need to care about when returning a value with python. The first is the type you're trying to return and the second is where you're returning it.

Hi Community,
In this article, I will demonstrate below steps to create your own chatbot by using spaCy (spaCy is an open-source software library for advanced natural language processing, written in the programming languages Python and Cython):

  • Step1: Install required libraries

  • Step2: Create patterns and responses file

  • Step3: Train the Model

  • Step4: Create ChatBot Application based on the trained model

So Let us start.

This is a translation of the following article. Thanks [@Evgeny Shvarov] for the help in translation.

This post is also available on Habrahabrru.

The post was inspired by this Habrahabr article: Interval-associative arrayru→en.

Since the original implementation relies on Python slices, the Caché public may find the following article useful: Everything you wanted to know about slicesru→en.

Note: Please note that the exact functional equivalent of Python slices has never been implemented in Caché, since this functionality has never been required.

And, of course, some theory: Interval treeru→en.

All right, let’s cut to the chase and take a look at some examples.

Serializing Python objects in globals

Motivation

This project was thought of when I was thinking of how to let Python code deal naturally with the scalable storage and efficient retrieving mechanism given by IRIS globals, through Embedded Python.

My initial idea was to create a kind of Python dictionary implementation using globals, but soon I realized that I should deal with object abstraction first.

So, I started creating some Python classes that could wrap Python objects, storing and retrieving their data in globals, i.e., serializing and deserializing Python objects in IRIS globals.

Easy CSV TO FHIR - InterSystems Contest

Hello everyone, I’m a French student in academical exchange for my fifth year of engineering school and here is my participation in the FHIR for Women's Health contest.

This project is supposed to be seen as the backend of a bigger application. It can be plugged into a Front End app and help you gather information from your patients. It will read your data in local and use a Data Transformation to make it into a FHIR object before sending it to the included local FHIR server.
