timeout value

looking for what the timeout value is for the connection for shadowing. and if it is known the timeout for mirroring also.

I'm currently getting this error and when we go to mirroring it would be good to know also, this way we can go back to our network vendor and give them as much info as possible.

Importing globals limitations and errors

Hi,

I exported selected globals from a Cache 2017 database into a single 4 Gb gof file. Now I tried to import from this file via Management Portal on a different machine . Only about half of the globals was imported and my attempts to select additional globals led to nothing, no new globals have been imported. Well, obviously I am mildly curious what's going on and how can I see the corresponding error which did not appear in the Import window but I can also shrug it off and consider what should I do next.

Hi folks, I'm trying to pad my patient MRN to 10 characters before I do a SQL lookup in my BPL. I've tried various approaches, and have not been successful.

Sending PDF to Printer using Cache - Windows

Hi All,

I need some help with sending PDF files to printer using cache instead of using third party tools(Adobe, foxit reader, etc..).
Sometime i getting access issue with the exe files.

Can able to send text data to printer using below code.

Set Dev="|PRN|PrinterName"
OPEN Dev:(/DATATYPE="TEXT"):80
USE Dev Write "Test printing",!
CLOSE Dev

Any suggestions on sending PDF to printer?

Binary Support in JSON?

I'm working on a REST service which will include a binary stream as a request property. I'm currently encoding the stream as BASE64 and passing it as a string value, but I was wondering if there is anything in the Caché JSON support that may be a better fit for encoding this data? Thanks Chris

"Failed to acquire exclusive lock" on insert

I have a custom process that is parsing HL7 and inserting it into a table. Periodically the inserts fail with # due to error: ERROR #5803: Failed to acquire exclusive lock on instance of....

Traditional databases would wait until the lock is removed then do the insert, but cache fails. I'm sure it's my coding approach.

How can I work around this? A Try/Catch loop?

Is there an option to export globals in archive?

Hi, Community!

Is there an option to get an archived file of globals in one command. Say for:

Do $System.OBJ.Export("Class1*D.GBL,Class2*D.GBL","data_gbl.xml")

get something like:

Do $System.OBJ.Export("Data*D.GBL","data_gbl.gz","gzip")

And also to have the convenient one click way to import it to the namespace via terminal or Control Panel?

If anyone already has this module, share please?

It would be very convenient for import/export/continuous integration purposes cause globals can be really heavy.

ODBC data source problem with Entity framework in Visual studio 2019 class library

Dear,

I have a visual studio c# library (.net framework 4.7.2) where I want to use EF. I cannot see my ODBC connection in datasource when I select a ADO.NET Entity Data Model for EF designer for database.

I followed the installation for CacheEF.zip file. (C:\Cache\Cache2010v2\dev\dotnet\bin\v4.0.30319)

Cache Unit Test with jenkins

Hi, everybody,

I've been reading some posts in the community but I haven't been able to come to a conclusion. Here's my point.

I have a cache code, and following this guide https://cedocs.intersystems.com/latest/csp/docbook/DocBook.UI.Page.cls?K... but I can't understand how to run this from jenkins for example, without using the console, and thus automate the process. That is to say, if it were possible to do it, what steps should I follow.

I have to connect to an external database and I'd like to use the JDBC SQL Gateway.

I followed this tutorial [1] to create a JDBC SQL Gateway and after configured it works as expected, but I don't know

Unexpected SQL error returns <NOLINE> in Intersystems Cache

Problem

I got a quick answer from this forum yesterday so I'm going to try my luck again today! I've hit an error in another table when trying to extract through the Cache ODBC driver, but this one gives me less details and I'm struggling to pinpoint what might be causing the error.

The table I am trying to extract is called REF_TABLE_ONE.

Possible to view the contents of a process private global?

I know the process ID< and I know the global name: ^||testing(index). From the terminal (and therefore, and different process ID), how do I view the contents of ^||testing() ? Not the list of process private globals; the contents of this single PPG.

Printing from Caché Terminal - is there any way to send bold characters to the Windows default printer?

I'm converting a DTM system to Caché and trying to use the Caché Terminal as the UI. I've come across and removed some DTM formatting for printed text that does not do anything in Caché (actually, it caused errors). The printed output to the default Windows printer ("|PRN|") has been working and the printed documents in text-only format look fine. I am testing on a low-end HP laser printer and a Brother laser. The client has done a print test to his own older HP laser from his Caché instance and the text renders fine.
