This article is intended to describe how the clinFHIR application can be used to help developers both understand FHIR and to develop applications that utilize FHIR artifacts. It’s not intended to be an introduction to FHIR, but rather describe how clinFHIR can help on the learning / development journey.
InterSystems has decided to stop further development of the InterSystems IRIS Natural Language Processing, formerly known as iKnow, technology and label it as deprecated as of the 2023.3 release of InterSystems IRIS. InterSystems will continue to support existing customers using the technology, but does not recommend starting new development projects outside of the core text exploration use cases it was originally designed for.
This article will cover turning over control of provisioning the InterSystems Kubernetes Operator, and starting your journey managing your own "Cloud" of InterSystems Solutions through Git Ops practices. This deployment pattern is also the fulfillment path for the PID^TOO||| FHIR Breathing Identity Resolution Engine.
How to create an ODBC connection on your native Windows laptop to IRIS running on a Windows VM on the same computer, test the connection, and pull data from IRIS into Excel.
Last week at the InterSystems Global Summit, we announced our new Foreign Tables capability, which was introduced as an experimental feature with the 2023.1 release earlier this year.
As you have seen in the latest community publications, InterSystems IRIS has included since version 2024.1 the possibility of including vector data types in its database and based on this type of data vector searches have been implemented. Well, these new features reminded me of the article I published a while ago that was based on facial recognition using Embedded Python.
Methods written in ObjectScript can use pass-by-reference arguments to return information to the caller. Python doesn’t support pass-by-reference arguments, so Embedded Python in IRIS doesn’t support them either. That's it, that's the end of the post, hope you liked it. 😉 But wait, what about the Classic Rock & Roll?
Yet another example of applying LangChain to give some inspiration for new community Grand Prix contest.
I was initially looking to build a chain to achieve dynamic search of html of documentation site, but in the end it was simpler to borg the static PDFs instead.
Kubernetes is an open-source container orchestration framework developed by Google. In essence, it controls container speed and helps you manage applications consisting of multiple containers. Additionally, it allows you to operate them in different environments, e.g., physical machines, virtual machines, Cloud environments, or even hybrid deployment environments.
Are you preparing to use VS code for the first time? Just make sure you have enough privileges.
Have you defined your Iris server in your VS Code settings, and still get the following error?
VS Code accesses Iris/HealthConnect using the web application /api/atelier. If you do not have permission (i.e. you are using an LDAP user to connect and the web application is not configured to support LDAP), this is the reason why you couldn't connect.
FOREIGN TABLES is a rather fresh feature in IRIS (2023.?) So I was motivated to try something new by own hands. Documentation of Foreign Table from File is a good starting point. Also the related promotional video is fine to start with.
As a former JAVA developer it has always been a challenge to decide which database was the most suitable for the project we were going to develop, one of the main criteria I used was their performance, as well as their HA configuration capabilities ( high availability). Well, now is the time to put IRIS to the test with respect to some of the most commonly used databases, so I've decided to create a small Java project based on SpringBoot that connects via JDBC with a MySQL database, another of PostgreSQL and finally with IRIS.
In my recent post Quality of Open Exchange packages, I tried to raise attention on Pull Requests and Issues (on GitHub). I could count the replies on 1 hand. Special Thanks to the French Community!
I see the role of a Pull Request as a proposal to fix a problem in the submitted package.
The IKO allows for sidecars. The idea behind them is to have direct access to a specific instance of IRIS. If we have mirrored data nodes, the web gateway will (correctly) only give us access to the primary node. But perhaps we need access to a specific instance. The sidecar is the solution.
Building on the example from the previous article, we introduce the sidecar by using a mirrored data node and of course arbiter.
It seems like yesterday when we did a small project in Java to test the performance of IRIS, PostgreSQL and MySQL (you can review the article we wrote back in June at the end of this article). If you remember, IRIS was superior to PostgreSQL and clearly superior to MySQL in insertions, with no big difference in queries.
We are holding the first technical article contest on Japan's InterSystems Developer Community!
The first contest is a technical document writing contest, and you can submit any content related to the InterSystems IRIS/InterSystems IRIS for Health. (The article must be in Japanese.)
🎁 Participation prize: There will be a participation prize for everyone who submits an article for the contest.
🏆Special prize: Authors of three selected works will receive special prizes.
Entering the contest is easy! Please post an article related to IRIS on the developer community during the period from Wednesday, September 6, 2023 to Monday, November 6, 2023.
InterSystems IRIS provides a complete application development environment for building sophisticated data- and analytics-intensive applications that connect data and application silos. It is designed to work with all of the common development technologies in an open, standards-based fashion and supports both server-side and client-side programming.
Earlier this year I announced availability of a VS Code extension for coding in ObjectScript, Embedded Python or SQL using the notebook paradigm popularized by Jupyter. Today I published a maintenance release to correct a "getting started" problem.
Here's a video of the installation steps from the extension's README:
We resume our series of articles on the FHIR Adapter tool available to HealthShare HealthConnect and InterSystems IRIS users.
In the previous articles we have presented the small application on which we set up our workshop and showed the architecture deployed in our IRIS instance after installing the FHIR Adapter. In today's article we will see an example of how we can perform one of the most common CRUD (Create - Read - Update - Delete) operations, the reading operation, and we will do it by recovering a Resource.
Once you achieve one of the highest levels of the Global Masters program: Expert, Ambassador, or Legend, you will receive a shiny Credly Digital Badge to highlight and validate your contributions to the InterSystems Developer community!⚡
In this article, I'm excited to introduce my latest application, Journal File Indexer. The development of this application is rooted in the portal idea DPI-I-270.
In short, this application lets you load and index a log file in a database.
Why?
If you've ever used the log file search function in the management portal, you may have encountered a timeout error or even a blank page. This problem usually occurs when searching a large journal file. Journal File Indexer solves this problem by considerably increasing the speed of searches once the file has been loaded into the database.
Another problem arises during the restoration process. When searching for global entries in a log file to restore old or new values, the management portal doesn't have this specific functionality. A routine must therefore be coded to achieve this. Journal File Indexer comes to the rescue, incorporating a restore function!
