I'm happy to announce the latest Python Gateway release.

This is not an InterSystems product, it is community supported open source project.

Download new release from GitHub.

Now for the new features.

Fast transfer. Pass globals, classes and tables from InterSystems IRIS to Python with ease and speed (10x faster than old QueryExecute). Documentation.

Proxy Gateway allows generation of ObjectScript classes for Python classes. Instantinate objects, call object and class methods using familiar ObjectScript code (docs).

set module = "random"
set sc = ##class(isc.py.gw.Generator).Generate(module)
set sc = ##class(isc.py.Main).ImportModule(module)
write ##class(py.random).randint(1,100)

The Atelier team is excited to announce the promotion of Atelier 1.3.144 to the beta channel for Windows, Mac and Linux. This new release contains two major enhancements - a new error message for incompatible encoding schemes and an improved parser. Please head to the Release Notes to learn more.

For the best upgrade experience, InterSystems suggests that you install Eclipse Photon (4.8) fresh before installing Atelier 1.3. Find out how here.

As always, we look forward to your feedback!

Caché process failures on RHEL V7.2

InterSystems WRC has investigated several issues of process failure that can be attributed to a recent change in Red Hat Linux.

A new feature implemented in RHEL V7.2 (systemd-219-19.el7.x86_64) can cause O.S. IPC (Inter-process communication) semaphores to be deallocated when a non-system RHEL user logs out (system users, i.e. with a UID number < 1000, are excluded)

Internally, Caché makes use of IPC semaphores to control the operation of Caché processes (for example when trying to wake-up a Caché process).
