New Features and Enhancements

This article outlines the process of utilizing the renowned Jaeger solution for tracing InterSystems IRIS applications. Jaeger is an open-source product for tracking and identifying issues, especially in distributed and microservices environments. This tracing backend that emerged at Uber in 2015 was inspired by Google's Dapper and Twitter's OpenZipkin. It later joined the Cloud Native Computing Foundation (CNCF) as an incubating project in 2017, achieving graduated status in 2019. This guide will demonstrate how to operate the containerized Jaeger solution integrated with IRIS.

Been testing out the Production Validator toolkit, just to see what we can/not do with it. Seems really interesting and there seem to be some use cases for it that can really streamline some upgrades (or at least parts of upgrades) but I was running into so many hurdles with the documentation. I am curious if anyone else has used it.
Did you experience any issues getting it working? Any clarification that you would have liked in the documentation? any use cases that you worked through that made it particularly valuable? etc?

What is the minimum version to use the DTL AI Generator

I’m working on a data transformation in IRIS where I need to calculate the difference in hours between two timestamps stored as %TimeStamp.

Example:

Set startTime = "2024-07-12 08:30:00"
Set endTime = "2024-07-12 15:15:00"

I’d like to calculate the number of hours (with decimals, like 6.75) between them. What's the recommended way to do this in ObjectScript? I’ve seen examples using $ZDATETIME, but I’m not sure if that’s the cleanest approach.

Any suggestions or best practices would be appreciated!

Good morning everyone,
In the facility we're working in, we have two separate installations for testing and production. In the test environment, we have production processes running properly, and we need to replicate production processes and settings in the production environment. Until now, when we move from a test environment to a production environment, we currently export the test classes, import them into production, and manually configure the production environment by connecting Services, Processes, and Operations and configuring the settings.

The 2025.1.1 maintenance releases of InterSystems IRIS^® data platform,InterSystems IRIS^® for Health^TM, and HealthShare^® Health Connect are now Generally Available (GA). Please share your feedback through the Developer Community so we can build a better product together.

How to get the software?

InterSystems is pleased to announce the General Availability (GA) of the 2025.2 release of InterSystems IRIS® data platform. This is a Continuous Delivery (CD) release. Please note that the GA versions of InterSystems IRIS for Health™ and HealthShare® Health Connect™ 2025.2 are currently withheld due to mirroring limitations introduced by security updates (details below).

Release Highlights

This release introduces impactful enhancements across security, developer experience, operations, and interoperability. Notable new features include:

As foreign tables are behind a paywall (booo); we have a external cache system using the intersystems ODBC driver or usually a .jar CacheDB.jar. 

The requirement is :

"Create a copy of the external table once a day to perform comparisons to detect changes"

We could go full code and this is what we will do but trying the following should ideally work

We have just upgraded the Trusts test Health Connect instance from 2021.1 to 2025.1 and now the the Rules and DTL editors, in the Management Portal, timeout after 10 - 20 minutes of inactivity.
In 2021.1 we were able to disable this timeout using: set ^EnsPortal("DisableInactivityTimeout","Portal") = 1, however this no longer works with 2025.1, and is being ignored.
It may be being ignoring this global setting because the editors are no longer using the default Web Application for the Namespaces, and are using the: /ui/interop/rule-editor and /ui/interop/dtl-editor Web Applications.

I am making a FHIR request against Epic, in when I get the Response back using "fromDao" I am extracting the stream into HS.FHIRModel.R4.Patient. However, the patient's name comes back as name within a list that references HS.FHIRModel.R4.SeqOfHumanName.

• How do I extract the name from HS.FHIRModel.R4.SeqOfHumanName?
• Do I have to then do another "fromDao" to pull the list into string format?
• How do I navigate around the lists that are in a FHIRModel response, to extract the string values?

Is there any built in class method to get the HTTP request and response message format from the %request and %response object. Similar to how a Web Gateway's HTTP Trace Facility captures HTTP messages.

I am receiving a FHIR response bundle back with a resource of patient. Using fromDao, I attempted to take the stream and put it into FHIRModel.R4.Patient but it is not mapping correctly. When I attempt to take FHIRModel.R4.Patient and write it out using toString(), all I am seeing is the resource

so the response is not mapping correctly to FHIRModel.R4.Patient. How have others handled this? Do I need to translate it to an SDA since it does fit the model format?

I have built a REST operation to submit a JSON Request Body, and in the JSON Response Object, I need to pull out certain values like pureID, portalURL, and under the identifiers array the ClassifiedID that has a term."en_US" = "Scopus Author ID"

I'm working on a complex piece of rules that needs to check each OBX and evaluate if 3 of the fields match certain criteria. I've tried to achieve this using a Foreach loop, which does work, however it is not as clean as I wanted it. I was hoping I could assign temp variables inside the foreach loop to make the rules more easier to read, for example @testCode @resultText. This is not support as you can only assign inside a when condition. Before I raise this as an idea, i wondered if there was an alternative way to achieve the same thing?

I seem to remember making this work before, but I'm not having any luck digging up examples.

I've defined some custom properties for a business operation that could definitely benefit from having popup descriptions available in the Production Configuration. I have triple-slash comments before each property that do just that in the source. I thought those provided the text for the popup descriptions when clicking on the property name, but apparently not.

Any thoughts?

Just building a simple frontend->JSON->IRIS backend story, and figured that IRIS while importing via %JSON.Adaptor wants JSON fields to match property names, meaning even should match the case. Like:

will have issues while saving the dynamic object to a class Sample.Person with:

My HL7 message got "AR" (rejected ack code) and went to the suspended queue.  I re-submitted it (without editing it) but forgot to write down the details before doing so.  It got "AA" and everything works fine from there.

Now (the next day) I want to check with the downstream system why they returned "AR" initially.  Is there a way to search for the original message the got an "AR", along with any returned error message please?

Hello, This probably easy but I can't seem to figure it out. I need to send the first and last name of nurses to one segment target. How do I do this? 

EVN 5.2 and EVN 5.3 needs to = One target segment

I'm in the process of setting up InterSystems IRIS for HealthShare with database mirroring, and I’d appreciate some guidance around how to handle an existing ODBC connection in this new setup.

Scenario:

• We currently have a system running IRIS for HealthShare that external systems connect to via ODBC (using a standard connection string with hostname and port).
• We're now configuring mirroring on this system — it will become one of the mirror members (Primary/Backup).
