Question Kevin McGinn · Mar 9, 2022

I have a python script that is pulling the cache instance key expiration date ( KeyExpirationDate() ) which comes back as an integer. With the queryscript function - $ZDATE(73284) I can derive the actual expiration date. Is there a manner or method of creating an equivalent Python script that will convert the integer return by the KeyExpirationDate() method into a date string?

Since Caché 2017 the SQL engine has included new set of statistics. These record the number of times a query is executed and the time it takes to run.

This is a gold mine for anyone monitoring and trying to optimize the performance of an application that includes many SQL statements but it isn’t as easy to access the data as some people want.

This article and the associated sample code explains how to use this information and how to routinely extract a summary of daily statistics and keep a historic record of the SQL performance of your application.

What is recorded?

I am using the

import intersys.pythonbind3 as pyb

conn     = pyb.connection()
conn.connect_now(...)

db      = pyb.database(conn)
qry        = pyb.query(db)
obj        = pyb.object(db)

for connection to the cache instance

However when I run this class method, The error message  indicates the method does not exist:

print(db.run_class_method("SYS.Database","GetStatus",[]))

intersys.pythonbind3.cache_exception: file=intersys/pythonbind3.c line=3034 err=-1000 message=<METHOD DOES NOT EXIST> 148 runMtdLow+22^%SYS.BINDSRV GetStatus,SYS.Database

Question Kevin McGinn · Mar 1, 2022

I am writing a Python tool to query our cache instances for various information. I have set up the connection without issue:

import intersys.pythonbind3 as pyb

conn     = pyb.connection()
conn.connect_now(.....)

db      = pyb.database(conn)
qry     = pyb.query(db)
obj     = pyb.object(db)

I wanted to make the call:

execRes = qry.prepare_class("SYS.Database",'FreeSpace')

But fetching fails because of data mismatches ( as I understand from other posts) and my testing bears out this type of failure.

Instead I opted to attempt a query:

Time travel is like visiting Paris. You can't just read the guide, you have to throw yourself into it. Eat the food, use the wrong verbs, get double the charges, and end up kissing complete strangers.

We are now going to travel through time, that is, we are going to see future and past dates and how to calculate them in different formats. The TARDIS doesn't wait, take the controls and hold on tight.

Hi,

I'm looking through some journal entries in the hope of finding the root source of an issue.
I was wondering if and how you can map a "ECP system id" to a server.

Any hints would be welcome

Best regards
Ivo

NOTE: we previously found an issue with the 2021.1.1.324.0  builds.   The 2021.1.1 maintenance releases have been removed from the WRC and have been  replaced with 2021.1.2.336.0 builds.  2021.1.2 containers will be available shortly.

Two new sets of maintenance releases are now available:

  • Caché  2018.1.6, Ensemble 2018.1.6, and HSAP 2018.1.6
  • InterSystems IRIS 2020.1.2, IRIS for Health 2020.1.2, and HealthShare Health Connect 2020.1.2

Installation kits and containers can be downloaded from the WRC Software Distribution site. Container images for the Enterprise Editions of InterSystems IRIS and IRIS for Health and all corresponding components are available from the InterSystems Container Registry.

Hi,

I was playing around with the python binding for caché (2018.1.4) and I ran into some problems.

When executing the class query "List" from SYS.Database the  pythonbind interface throws an exception, that seems to be caused by a mismatch of the defined SQL datatypes for this query and what is actually returned (or the lack of type conversion in the pythonbind interface).

Is this a known issue ? Are there solutions/workarounds for this,
Or is this a bug ?

The details:

When executing "List" from SYS.Database there is an error for every datarow fetched.
When executing "FreeSpace" from SYS.

Is there a way, for testing purposes at least, to change a CSP session over to a different user? We have a lot of things in our system that are allowed or restricted based on the user login, so it would be useful for me to be able to occasionally run as a different user to see how things look and work for them. I've tried using the %CSP.Session.Login function, but that still shows the CSP session as being from the original user, not the one I've switched to.

Dear people,

I (really) spent hours on finding the maximum size a Global is allowed to be (for Windows, if that matters). All I seem to run into are database sizes (derived from a max number of blocks and block size), but I refuse to believe that is correct because too small to be realistic. surprise

It will  undoubtedly my fault that I don't understand or misread the concepts of "database" vs Globals, envisioning files as such while one set of functional Globals in one file (?

Hey there,

I posted a reply to the recent video https://community.intersystems.com/post/new-video-building-data-driven-web-apps#comment-132511
with a slew of questions.  Wondering if someone can take a look a address my questions on that post or on this new thread.

I find many InterSystems learning to be challenging to follow, but I"m not sure if it's because my work computer is so locked down that I don't have all the right tools and permissions I need to do what the tutorial asks, or if I'm not understanding the basics of Cache/IRIS, or both!

Question Higor Granzoto · Apr 14, 2021

We are planning to build a REST API with the Java Quarkus Framework.

  • There'll be a connection pool;
  • The DataSource instance will be automatically injected from the connection pool;
  • We will use JDBI to do SQL instructions and this will give us automatic Connection and Statement management;

This Caché instance already have COS applications running and consuming connections and licenses.

After doing this, we will migrate to IRIS.

Is there any pitfalls that we must be aware before taking this approach?

If you want to see some code the PoC can be found here.

Thanks.

When designing a hierarchy in DeepSee, a child member must have only one parent member. In the case where a child corresponds to two parents, the results can become unreliable. In the case where two similar members exist, their keys must be changed so that they are unique. We will take a look at two examples to see when this happens and how to prevent it.

Example 1

There are a handful of states with a city named Boston. In my sample data, I have records from both Boston, MA and Boston, NY. My dimension is defined as:

City and State are simply strings in my case.

I'm thinking to try ChunkedWriter based on the documentation I'm reading to solve an issue but could use some clarification. Anyone that could provide a usage example of this down below?

To send a chunked request, do the following:

  1. Create a subclass of %Net.ChunkedWriterOpens in a new window, which is an abstract stream class that defines an interface for writing data in chunks. In this subclass, implement the OutputStream() method.
  2. In your instance of %Net.HttpRequestOpens in a new window, create an instance of your %Net.

I have  a SQL query that I want to run against MS SQL from cache ensemble using the SQL outbound adapter. If I run this query direct from MS SQL Studio it take about 7 seconds MAX and returns about half a million rows. The row only contains one column it is a number all same size and if I run this query in the production in ensemble it takes for ever the production finishes without getting the response back. The same query run in cache outside the ensemble environment writing results to a file it returns results taking about 3minutes to complete.

Does anyone have experience using SCCM or any other enterprise application management tool to deploy updates to a thick client (internally developed standalone app) across the enterprise?  I have a client that is attempting to get this working for their customer and running into some trouble.  If you have any knowledge or experience you can share it would be greatly appreciated.

I have read some MS Technet pages that appear to indicate this is possible

We have a situation where we want to save the patient photo (or any other attachment) received via FHIR to a persistent property without decoding it. When it is sent out again using FHIR is is stored in the encoded format and need not be encoded. We do not need to decode it for our application. We always use it on another system that retrieves it or saves it via FHIR and therefore it is always received or sent embedded in JSON.

Hey Developer Community,

I wanted to reach out and ask the group who is still using the Polymetric Dashboard? You can read about it in this older Community article.

It was created as a sample that is designed to be customized by you, so it is a community supported tool vs. an official InterSystems supported tool.  I've noticed that it hasn't been updated in a while and some of the dependencies have some potential security vulnerabilities.
