Context: Ensemble development with ObjectScript in a healthcare context - lots of HL7, and some web service stuff. We've used Studio up till now, alongside a lot of leaning on an external developer, but are expanding our team and doing more in-house. We are wondering about Visual Studio Code - not least because it looks easier to hook up to source management solutions. And we've noticed that the test environments that you get connected to when doing many of the online training courses on learning.intersystems.com give you a Visual Studio Code environment.
Hi. This is my first post on this forum; I've tried to open an issue on the official repo , but it seems inactive from more than a year, so I can't receive an answer from there. I would like to know if someone use that extension and know how to use it when working server-side on an IRIS server. I have no problem when coding on a file saved locally. Thanks in advance
Visual Studio Code, like Atelier, connects to IRIS through the Web Server and a web service, unlike Studio that connect to the SuperServer port.
What about the VS Code terminal? Does that open a shell with SSH or does it also use a web service?
In other words, does an IRIS developer using VS Code need direct access to the IRIS instance with SSH or the SuperServer port, in addition to the external or private web server to execute terminal commands?
I have run into two annoyances when using VS Code for server-side editing of Objectscript and was wondering if anyone knows of any solutions or workarounds.
1. In .mac routine files, class names that aren't fully qualified (e.g. ##class(example) instead of ##class(Package.example)) fail to be understood, so the class will have a red squiggly underneath it and a problem that reads
"Class 'example' does not exist. InterSystems Language Server".
I am trying to set up VS Code so that it will connect to a new server running IRIS 2023.1, and I can't seem to get the setup to accept my errors. I enter all the requested information, and at the end I receive a message:
I want to connect IRIS system as it has all the database tables. on top of that I am creating a REST API in python. How can I connect to IRIS DB. here is my example code for connection
after this connection is created but how can I get tables data. Please let me know more about how we can integrate IRIS database into a python REST API.
i've noticed a strange bug in the 'problem highlighting' of VSCODE and i wasn't sure if this is a problem with the internal library definitions of iris, or with the plug-in itself.
The first line is the correct macro call, but the second one is the one throwing the error. (preprocess vs prepOrocess)
How is this syntax checker's list of strings compiled?
Is there a way to include a prefix for the instance name in the server connection? I have 1 server with multiple iris instances, using 1 webserver. Each instance can be reached using a prefix in the url: (for example https://localhost/instance1/...).
I want to use VS code remote, but can't add the prefix to the hostname (or ip), and also not to the port, as this is numeric. Any idea how to solve this?
In VS Code using the InterSystems ObjectScript extensions, I'd like the indentation applied to match that of IRIS Studio. Specifically for comments and dot syntax, I'd like pressing enter (carriage return) to preserve the current dot depth and same comment beginning.
In IRIS Studio after changing the indentation settings to custom using " \t.#/;" without quotes (note the leading space), the behaviour looks like this:
I know this is very "newby" of me, but here goes..
I have moved some classes onto my server, but these have never been in VSCode as edited files, and I'm just not finding the magic command or button or drop-down that says "pull this file from the server and make me a local copy to edit. I can see the class files on the server using the ObjectScript plugin - but I just can't find out where to make a local copy for editing
Every class on the server throws this same error when trying to run the debugger. I've already made sure I don't have the %SecureBreak role assigned which seems to typically fix this issue. Any advice on how to troubleshoot this would be greatly appreciated!
Error is : <COMMAND>zDebugStub+40^%Debugger.System.1
When I open a class in VS Code and I want to save it I'm getting the following error : Non-JSON response to /api/atelier/v7/DEV/doc/API.Mollie.Execute.cls?ignoreConflict=0 request. Is the web server suppressing detailed errors?
Also I always get a popup when I open VS Code "The extension wants to sign in using InterSystems Server Credentials."
GitLab is using the rouge ruby gem, that apparently does not support ObjectScript at the moment. Is there an easy way to add syntax highlighting to GitLab ?
I like to add documentation to the top of every class I write. Is there a way to modify or create a template that would automatically add the lines below to the top of the class? I primarily use Studio IDE but would like to be able to do this using VS Code as well.
Suppose I created a new DeepSee class to display a new item in the dashboard.
DeepSee.Component.datePick
Wich, in general, is just a copy of a similar class in %ZEN with minor changes. I need to include it in the base install. How can i do this? Am I ever allowed to change the composition of system classes?
I am trying to adjust my VSCode settings.json to make my repository to Server Side Source Control. When Adding "uri" to the settings.json to change the setting but VSCode is telling me that the Property uri is not allowed.
i'm starting to try to switch to VS Code with ISC integration plugins. Everything seems fine until i get to and environment with CCR enabled. I can't open any class in RW and i don't know how to check the class out.
For my recent tutorial, I used %Query Wizard of Studio.
Could any of the VSCode experts please show me how to generate
Query Statement with input parameters, CONTAINID , ROWSPEC and the required class methods - <queryname>Execute() - <queryname>Fetch() - <queryname>Close()
is there any way how to hide or remove storage "Histogram" section in the file with persistent class definition, but keep the data both in globals and sql table? The reason is that we use on-premise version control system and since the data is sensitive, it cannot be uploaded along with the files.
