Hi
I get the following error when I am trying to create a linked server connection via MS OLE DB Provider for ODBC Drivers in MS SQL Server Management Studio. The message I get is:
The OLE DB provider "MSDASQL" for linked server "IRIS" reported an error. The provider did not give any information about the error.
Cannot initialize the data source object of OLE DB provider "MSDASQL" for linked server "IRIS". (Framework Microsoft SqlClient Data Provider)
I have setup the InterSystems ODBC setting on the server.

Hey InterSystems-Community,
is it possible to get these Property Descriptions via SQL Query for example in the Management Portal?
Best regards,
Florian

I'm very new to InterSystems Health Connect so may be doing something silly...
I'm trying to link to an Oracle DB view using the Link Table Wizard in the Management Portal. The wizard finds the view, but when I select it and click the 'next' button I get an error on the 'Select Columns' screen: 'ERROR #5534: Columns error' (and no columns show in the wizard). I've tried on several views and tables in the same DB but keep hitting the same error.
I have previously successfully mapped a view and table from the same DB and am not sure what I am doing differently. Any suggestions appreciated!
We're excited to continue to roll out new features to InterSystems IRIS Cloud SQL, such as the new Vector Search capability that was first released with InterSystems IRIS 2024.1. Cloud SQL is a cloud service that offers exactly that: SQL access in the cloud. That means you'll be using industry-standard driver technologies such as JDBC, ODBC, and DB-API to connect to this service and access your data. The documentation describes in proper detail how to configure the important driver-level settings, but doesn't cover specific third-party tools as - as you can imagine - there's an infinite number of them.
In this article, we'll complement that reference documentation with more detailed steps for a popular third-party data visualization tool that several of our customers use to access IRIS-based data: Microsoft Power BI.

Given a properly formatted ISO 8601 date time of 2024-06-23T06:03:00Z using SQL DatePart results in an error:
[SQLCODE: <-400>:<Fatal error occurred>]
[%msg: <Invalid input to DATEPART() function: datepart='ss', datetime value='2024-06-23T06:03:00Z')>]
If I remove the trailing Z (for Zulu / UTC time) and leave the T, DatePart works fine.
I have also tried various ± offsets from UTC e.g.
From time to time we develop an Ensemble Production with simple SQL Inbound data from external databases, we need to develop a few new classes. There are at least:

I need some help, how to calculate date and time in different columns ? .png)

I have a table that is already created and contains data. I need to create a unique constraint that is a combination of two fields. Is there a way to do this in a SQL statement? Also, I would lke to know how to add it in the table class.
Recently I wanted to get a list of all cached queries and their texts. Here's how to do that.
First create an SQL Procedure returning Cache Query text from a Cached Query routine name:
Class test.CQ
{
/// SELECT test.CQ_GetText()
ClassMethod GetText(routine As %String) As %String [ CodeMode = expression, SqlProc ]
{
##class(%SQLCatalog).GetCachedQueryInfo(routine)
}
}And after that you can execute this query:
SELECT Routine, test.CQ_GetText(Routine)
FROM %SQL_Manager.CachedQueryTree()And get a list of Cached Queries:

I'm facing a challenge in dynamically generating SQL queries based on incremental q_ids for a project I'm working on. Here's the scenario:
log_reports that contains logs of service activities, including timestamps and associated q_ids.
Hello Community,
I have encountered the following SQL problem trying to create a table from a SELECT statement.
I narrowed the problem down to the following example:
1. The SELECT statement alone works as expected.
SELECT m.Name, h.Status FROM EnsLib_HL7.Message m, Ens.MessageHeader h WHERE h.MessageBodyClassName='EnsLib.HL7.Message' AND h.MessageBodyID = m.ID
2. But if "CREATE TABLE ... AS" is added it fails
CREATE TABLE UKEr.Test AS SELECT m.Name, h.Status FROM EnsLib_HL7.Message m, Ens.MessageHeader h WHERE h.MessageBodyClassName='EnsLib.HL7.Message' AND h.
In a customer project I was asked how you can keep track of database changes: Who changed what at which date and time. Goal was to track insert, update and delete for both SQL and object access.
This is the table that I created to keep the Change Log:
/// Changelog, keep track of changes to any table
Class ChangeLog.DB.ChangeLog Extends (%Persistent, %JSON.Hello Everyone,

Hi all!
How can I get the ODBC drivers for IRIS 2024.1 if I am only using IRIS 2024.1 Community Edition?
This page gives you the information: "The official location for customers to download the latest released and fully supported InterSystems IRIS driver packages is the WRC download site." My first thought on this is: Why does Intersystems make it so difficult for users to use their database? Why is the ‘official’ driver package hidden behind a login wall? Shouldn't Intersystems be happy if someone wants to work with their database, wants to connect?
To disable the timeout, set the query timeout to disabled in the DSN settings:
Windows Control Panel > Administrative Tools > Data Sources (ODBC) > System DSN configuration
If you check Disable query timeout, the timeout will be disabled.
If you want to change it on the application side, you can set it at the ODBC API level.
Set the SQL_ATTR_QUERY_TIMEOUT attribute when calling the ODBC SQLSetStmtAttr function before connecting to the data source.
We have a yummy dataset with recipes written by multiple Reddit users, however most of the information is free text as the title or description of a post. Let's find out how we can very easily load the dataset, extract some features and analyze it using features from OpenAI large language model within Embedded Python and the Langchain framework.
First things first, we need to load the dataset or can we just connect to it?
The TIMESTAMP type corresponds to the %Library.TimeStamp data type (=%TimeStamp) in InterSystems products, and the format is YYYY-MM-DD HH:MM:SS.nnnnnnnnn.
If you want to change the precision after the decimal point, set it using the following method.
1) Set system-wide
Management Portal: [System Administration] > [Configuration] > [SQL and Object Settings] > [General SQL Settings]
Default time precision for GETDATE(), CURRENT_TIME, CURRENT_TIMESTAMP. You can specify the number of digits in the range 0 to 9.
Hi Community,
In this series of articles, we will explore the following InterSystems SQL usage options:
InterSystems SQL provides a full set of standard relational features, including the ability to define table schema, execute queries, and define and execute stored procedures. You can execute InterSystems SQL interactively from the Management Portal or programmatically from using a SQL shell interface.

Hi guys,
I'm trying find a way to create a row with the number of each row.
For example:
.png)
In the SQL above, i want a way to create a collum with the number of corresponding row, in this case:
1
2
3
In SQl SERVER i can use FOR, RANK or ROM_NUMBER to do this, but, i can't find a way to do the same in cache SQL.
Can someone help me?
Thank you.
The basic idea is to use Vectors in the mathematical sense.
I used geographic coordinates. These are of course only 2-dimensional
but much easier to follow as vectors in text analysis with >200 dimensions.
The example loads a list of worldwide capitals with their coordinates
The coordinates are interpreted as vectors from geographic point 0°N/0 W
(some very wet spot in the Gulf of Guinea, >400 km from the African Coast)
Finding common directions from that spot is a quite theoretical case.
So adjustment to your preferred starting point is implemented.
On IRIS version 2024.1.0.262.0 I have a table that store streams as %GlobalCharacterStream.
But depeding on the blob being saved I get the error: [Error: <<MAXSTRING>]
I had that with Caché, but to solve that I'd just enable the long strings on the page System Administration > Configuration > System Configuration > Memory and Startup > Enable Long Strings.
But for Iris I can't find that configuration, I looked on every config page from the portal and couldn't find it.
Btw this blobs are stored on Caché and the system using IRIS is reading from Caché and saving on IRIS.
Did you know that you can get JSON data directly from your SQL tables?
Let me introduce you to 2 useful SQL functions that are used to retrieve JSON data from SQL queries - JSON_ARRAY and JSON_OBJECT.
You can use those functions in the SELECT statement with other types of select items, and they can be specified in other locations where an SQL function can be used, such as in a WHERE clause
The JSON_ARRAY function takes a comma-separated list of expressions and returns a JSON array containing those values.
