Hi Friends,

In my production already we have business components (business service , process, operations) and all are working fine.

Now I have change the package structure of few classes and want to update the references in settings for Business components in Management portal.

As this class field is read only , Any other way to update the class reference, instead of creating new business component?

We are experimenting with IIS, as the PWS will be gone in newer versions.

The code which is executed, takes 15ms to run. If we execute it through PWS (REST), there is some overhead and the total execution time is 40ms, which is acceptable. However, if we go through IIS, it takes 150ms or sometimes even more.

Both PWS and IIS are running on the same server as IRIS in this case. No optimisations have been done on IIS.

Any suggestions on where to look/what to optimize on IIS?

Hi all,

As you know, it is very complicated to debug a Business Service Rest API because the object is created when the applications receive a request, so we cannot have the JobId that we can use to debug.

So, I'm trying to get the JobId when the class is being created, write a trace in OnInit() method and write the JobId in a log info

My newest app includes a java routine to read data from Excel 95, 97, 2000, XP, and 2003 workbooks and write the data into IRIS globals using Java Native API library.

If you have Git and Docker installed, clone/git pull the repo into any local directory

$ git clone https://github.com/oliverwilms/excel-java-iris.git

Open the terminal in this directory and run:

$ docker-compose up -d

Execute java class IRISNative

We are looking at what we need to do to migrate from our current usage of Zen reports to InterSystems Reports. One of the hurdles for us is figuring out ways to interact with InterSystems reports programmatically from ObjectScript routines. There is a Java API for it, but it is possible to generate a report from InterSystems reports to a stream object in ObjectScript without diving into Java by using a %Net.HttpRequest. Here is a code example, followed by an explanation:

TCP Error

Hi Everyone,

I tried to send the Sample XML from Packet Sender to Intersystems IRIS TCP Inbound adapter for learning purpose.
I'm using Predefine d Class : EnsLib.XML.TCPService and the adapter is EnsLib.TCP.CountedInboundAdapter (it selected by Default.)
My sample XML file would be <Patient><Name>John,Williams</Name><MRN>12345</MRN></Patient>
I got an error like

When I'm asked questions about SQL, I like Intersystems staff at the WRC, generally ask about the Query Plan. My feeling is that even before you run a query you should examine the results of Show Plan to confirm that the code is going to give me the results in the manner I would expect. If I expect it to leverage an index and I see that it is not then I go back and look at what I might have done incorrectly and try to re-write the query to get the index behavior I'm looking for. What I find really useful about IRIS when teaching my subject of Postrelational databases is the fact that it is a multi model database. Which means that I can actually go into architecture and structure and all that only once but then show the usage of different models (like object, document, hierarchy) using the same language and approach. And it is not a huge leap to go from an object oriented programming language (like C#, Java etc) to an object oriented database.

However, along with advantages (which are many) come some drawbacks when we switch from object oriented model to relational. When I say that you can get access to the same data using different models I need to also explain how it is possible to work with lists and arrays from object model in relational table. With arrays it is very simple - by default they are represented as separate tables and that's the end of it. With lists - it's harder because by default it's a string. But one still wants to do something about it without damaging the structure and making this list unreadable in the object model.

So in this article I will showcase a couple of predicates and a function that are useful when working with lists, and not just as fields.

I am trying to create a program to upload blob files from IRIS to Azure Blog Storage, but with no luck.

First, I am trying the APIs, but ##class(%Net.Cloud.Storage.Client).CreateClient() fails with the message "Cannot establish connection". Following the documentation, the parameters are like: CreateClient(, 1, credfile, , .tSC) where credfile specifies a file containing:

Which process notify Web Gateway when to switch to secondary/mirror IRIS? I'm trying to debug a case when the web gateway doesn't know about primary IRIS failure and is trying to send request to that instance which is causing 500 error. Also, no clue why at the same time I see that GET request to /csp/bin/mirror_status.cxw will return 200 OK.

embedded Python over ECP

With ECP we have the option to have a collection of Frontend instances
All Frontend servers typically have a common Master in the background
Concentrating data on the Master server is the primary goal.

As a side effect, this applies also to Classes, Routines, .. anything stored in Globals.
This is probably not the most efficient setup. But rather common anyhow.

Is embedded Python code also stored in Globals?

What is the recommended solution for a similar installation?

Hi there,

I want to use regex in my code, and I saw that the %Regex.Matcher class contains a property "OperationLimit" that you can also set to a number of steps that the regex engine should take maximum in analysing a given string. So far so good.

I tried to set the property with the function OperationLimitSet() to a silly value like 3. In 3 steps only very few regex should be executed, right? But what I found is that my regex always comes up with a solution. Here is what I did:
