With this release we've done a few things with subscriptions
1. Exposed personalization settings so you can control how and when you receive the email subscription notifications. See the image below
2. The ability to selectively subscribe to email notification for content by Tag. At the top of the "Browse by Tag" page there is a new link to Subscribe with Email.
How about displaying a different icon alongside a question for which there is an accepted answer? Perhaps add a green checkmark adornment to the existing icon?
It would be nice if there were a permalink displayed for each comment. That way I could bookmark or send a link to a specific comment. I can see links to my own comments in the My Account page, but I don't see any way to get permalinks for other people's comments.
This is an idea to improve the community. Add a button to remove a comment/answer in a post. There is not a way to remove a comment, only I can edit. For example, duplicated comment, an answer that it was for a post but I've written in other one. etc...
I can view my own profile just fine, but if I try to view anyone else's, whether they're my friend or not, there's an HTTP 503 response and the following message shows up:
"Temporarily Unavailable
The website that you're trying to reach is having technical difficulties and is currently unavailable.
We are aware of the issue and are working hard to fix it. Thank you for your patience."
a) Choose Add comment
b) Write some text in comment (e.g. 'test')
c) Click preview
d) Edit comment content (e.g. 'test 2')
d) Click preview again
e) Notice that preview shows comment content before editing (e.g. 'test')
It is currently sorted by size (large -> small). It feels not like a traditional tag cloud. It feels harder to find what I want than a traditionally styled tag cloud.
I think it should be sorted alphabetically? and center justified?
Would it be possible to include more lines, and maybe even replace line breaks with a space, to allow you to view the posts that are made more efficiently?
For example, I clicked on Caché and noticed that almost everyone began with "Hi", which ended up not really allowing you to review any of the posts before diving deeper.
I create a new blank post. Then I choose a group (I picked Caché). Next I click int the "Related Topics" field. At this point Firefox stops responding. It happens with FF 45.0.1 on 32-bit Windows and with 46.0.b7 on 64-bit Windows.
It's good to see growing participation in DC. However, sometimes I think that responses posted as Answers to Questions would be better classified as Comments. For example, the respondent could be seeking clarification about the original question (e.g. "What Caché version are you using?"), or perhaps following up someone else's answer or comment.
When starting a post, especially for the beginner there are a lot of buttons, check marks, icons etc. On some of them when you hover you get a very brief descriptions. In reading through some of the responses to the Developer Community Feedback there is a lot of good information.
Could one of the moderators, who know all the tricks put together a one or two page "cheat sheet?" or beginner guide?
This "Cheat Sheet" would be of great help!
I get the impression that there is a great push to encourage others to use the Developers Community.
When adding a new post, you now need to provide one or more tags to categorize the content appropriately. After selecting the tag, please remember to click the Add button to fully select the tag.
