I have this query That I am trying to use in my class when testing on the terminal I expect to get the results printed on the terminal but I am only getting zero printed please can anyone out there advice on what I am doing wrong

I have several 1GB journals from a LIVE server that I would like to inspect (eg: check which globals have been updated over the time).

Is there a simple way to view those journals using another IRIS instance ? (eg: local installation).

I have been tempted to put those files directly into the journal folder of my local installation and restart the system, however I am concerned that the transactions they contains will be restored and will corrupt the local database.

My project need to restore the previous part of the log, and I use the rountine "^JRNRESTO" and filter. After recovery completed, the table structure is restored, but the table data is not restored， also unable to insert data into the table.

I have an IRIS installation that is using 8-bit charset encoding (set to deu8 / Latin 1). I would like to convert everything (database and system) to Unicode

Charset encoding is something asked during installation, is it possible to change this on the fly ? The installer clearly say that Unicode systems cannot be converted. What about 8 bit ?

Same for database : is there possible conversion ?

Can I please check if anyone know why the data base resource is created differently when creating a namespace after specifically selecting it to use the default resource %DB_%DEFAULT?

I created a namespace and when creating the DB I selected the option to use the default resource

When the namespace creation was complete , database is using a new resource instead of the default.

This GitHub is the simplest way to scrap using IRIS and Python, all of that already incorporated in an IRIS PRODUCTION.

May have found the issue but not the solution.

"SELECT * FROM wmhISTORYdETAIL" runs as a passthrough without asking for the DNS.

but

'SELECT Count([wmhISTORYdETAIL].[HistHMNumber] AS CountOfHistHMNumber FROM [wmhISTORYdETAIL] WHERE ((([wmhISTORYdETAIL].[HistMovType])='Receipt') AND (([wmhISTORYdETAIL].[HistMovDate])>=Date()-1) AND (([wmhISTORYdETAIL].[HistMovDate])<Date()));'

asks for the DNS but both are linked to a table that has the password saved.

Any Ideas please?

For the recent contest, I've added a new feature, the ability to generate a static picture of any Cache or IRIS database. Like below. Where unique globals have a unique color. Old definition:

I'll start with an apology as I am trying to wrap my head around the architecture of how InterSystems IRIS database management works. I am attempting to connect to the platform remotely through say a JDBC or ODBC connection in order to run queries, searches (through SQL statements) on my laptop and was trying to understand whether this would be possible? It is possible to setup an inbound client connection and wanted to better understand the architecture of how the database association works for IRIS database management. Does it use it's own internal SQL database or are we able to connect to our own database and which databases are certified to run against the platform?
