We often get questions about recent and upcoming changes to the list of platforms and frameworks that are supported by the InterSystems IRIS data platform.  This update aims to share recent changes as well as our best current knowledge on upcoming changes, but predicting the future is tricky business and this shouldn’t be considered a committed roadmap.

With that said, on to the update…

IRIS Production Operating Systems and CPU Architectures

Red Hat Enterprise Linux

  • Recent Changes
    • RHEL 9.2 & RHEL 8.8 were released in May, 2023. Red Hat is planning to support these releases for 4 years.

Hello Everyone,

We currently have CSP application that runs under 2 servers(usually primary), and every month the server reboots for patching SERVER1(primary) in the morning and SERVER2(backup) at night.

Whenever the SERVER1 reboots SERVER2 behaves as primary and when SERVER1 comes back up it will act as backup server.

First Patching:

So, when SERVER1 is down, I need to start httpd service for SERVER2 and stop httpd service for SERVER1 (which is now backup server).

I tried using the code below in terminal to start httpd service for SERVER2 with no success.

Hi all,
I am trying to execute a query like the below code.
set statement = ##class(%ResultSet).%New("some_class:query_method").   // here query method is empty and with rowspec some columname

statement.Execute(param1)

I want to fetch data type of column value returned from above. eg - Name - VARCHAR, amount - INTEGER etc.
How can I get it. Or if not possible directly. Is there any other way to validate or get datatype of values returned. Line we have type() in python3

InterSystems FAQ rubric

You can avoid the error by specifying a stream object as the argument of %ToJSON() used when generating a JSON string from a dynamic object.

A code example is below.

USER>set temp=##class(%Stream.TmpCharacter).%New()

USER>set jsonobj={}

USER>set jsonobj.pro1=["a","b","c","d"]

USER>set jsonobj.pro2=["あ","い","う","え"]

USER>do jsonobj.%ToJSON(temp)

USER>write temp.Size
51
USER>write temp.Read()
{"pro1":["a","b","c","d"],"pro2":["あ","い","う","え"]}

See also the documentation for details.

  2. IAM - InterSystems API Manager
  3. Interoperability
  4. Advanced Reports (JReport)
  5. Cloud Manager/Docker and DevOps support
  6. ZPM - Package manager
  7. Native API - Node.js, Python, Java and .NET interoperability
  8. Core based license x user based license
  9. InterSystems Support and new features
  10. Improved management and monitoring features

Can you help me to think or detail these 10 topics?

The program below works perfectly when I call it directly from the Terminal, however when I call it from within a CSP it does not work (It does not do the SELECT).

In the USER namespace, the program works both in the Terminal and on the CSP , but in another namespace it only works when called directly in the Terminal.

PropList(class) ;
 k pl S c=0 s class="'"_class_"'"
 K ^PropList s ^PropList=class
 S lista=$SYSTEM.SQL.Execute("SELECT * FROM Projet.GerePageCSP")
 while lista.%Next() {
 S c=c+1,pl(c)=lista.

In this series of articles, I'd like to present and discuss several possible approaches toward software development with InterSystems technologies and GitLab. I will cover such topics as:

  • Git 101
  • Git flow (development process)
  • GitLab installation
  • GitLab Workflow
  • Continuous Delivery
  • GitLab installation and configuration
  • GitLab CI/CD
  • Why containers?
  • Containers infrastructure
  • CD using containers

In the first article, we covered Git basics, why a high-level understanding of Git concepts is important for modern software development, and how Git can be used to develop software.

In the second article, we covered GitLab Workflow - a complete software life cycle process and Continuous Delivery.

In the third article, we covered GitLab installation and configuration and connecting your environments to GitLab

In the fourth article, we wrote a CD configuration.

In the fifth article, we talked about containers and how (and why) they can be used.

In the sixth article let's discuss main components you'll need to run a continuous delivery pipeline with containers and how they all work together.

In this article, we'll build Continuous Delivery configuration discussed in the previous articles.

InterSystems FAQ rubric

By specifying the start and end values of the IDs for which you want to rebuild indexes in the arguments of the %BuildIndices() method provided in the persistent class (=table) definition, you can rebuild only the indexes within that range.

For example, to rebuild the NameIDX index and ZipCode index in the Sample.Person class only for ID=10 to 20, execute the following code (the ID range is specified in the 5th and 6th arguments).

 set status = ##class(Sample.Person).%BuildIndices($LB("NameIDX","ZipCode"),1,,1,10,20

$LB() is the $ListBuild() function.

The FHIR® SQL Builder, or Builder, is a component of InterSystems IRIS for Health. It is a sophisticated projection tool used to create custom SQL schemas using data in an InterSystems IRIS for Health FHIR repository without moving the data to a separate SQL repository. The Builder is designed specifically to work with FHIR repositories and multi-model databases in InterSystems IRIS for Health.

The objective of the Builder is to enable data analysts and business intelligence developers to work with FHIR using familiar analytic tools, without having to learn a new query syntax.

Testing ghostscript version 9.52 (ps2pdf command) from Cache Studio and it's taking about 1 minute to complete.  Size of EQ110823BG1001A.ps file is about 11MB.

Running from ensemble command line completed in 1 second

Not sure why it's taking so much longer to distill from Cache Studio.

Hi Guys,

For Login in CSP application, I am displaying custom Login page which is rendered from subclass CSS.CSP.Login that extends %CSP.Login, and also got IBA.CSP.Page that extends %CSP.Page with overridden method OnPreHTTP(). This setup is working perfectly for normal login.

When I define Invalid login limit and enable Disable account if login limit reached in System > Security Management > System-wide Security Parameters, the users get disabled after certain invalid login attempts.

As per the below document Intersystems licensing system works in the following way:

http://docs.intersystems.com/latest/csp/docbook/DocBook.UI.Page.cls?KEY…

Each user is identified by some unique ID and assigned a license unit. A single user can make multiple connections upto a maximum number  (say N)  shares a single license unit. Once the number of connection by a single user exceeds the maximum allowed number (N+1) a transaction happens and for each new connection from the user a new license unit is used.

It sometimes happens that due to an adverse event the AUDIT database (IRISAUDIT) has grown to such proportions that the disk it resides on is full and the daily purge cannot be expected to reclaim disk space.

As IRISAUDIT is a system database required at startup, there is no question of attempting to restart IRIS after simply deleting IRIS.DAT from the <IRIS ROOT>/mgr/irisaudit/ database, nor of hot swapping, by system manipulations trying to dismount, replace, remount, since it is simply not possible to dismount it.

We are trying to create a simple class extending %RegisteredObject that could be used as a singleton. However we are not able to store it in a global to later be retrieved (by the same process but elsewhere in the code).

I resumed my issue in this small code sample :

ClassMethod RunMe()
{
   // Create a simple %RegisteredObject
   set obj = ##class(%ZEN.proxyObject).%New()
   set obj.MyProp = 22
   do ##class(%SYSTEM.OBJ).Dump(obj)

   // Store it in a global
   set ^MyGlobalName = obj
   write "Stored : " _ obj,!!

   // Retrieve it from the global
   #Dim obj2 As %ZEN

Hi guys,

In Cache CSP application, I have enabled Password expiration days to certain days in System > Security Management > System-wide Security Parameters. When password expires for the users and they try to login the login page takes to standard cache password change page.

Is there anyway I can display my overridden page instead of standard cache password change page?

Reason to display my own page:  I needed to break down the UserName, for eg: UserName into CompanyID - IBA and User ID - san.

Currently, I have overridden %CSP.PasswordChange class to CSS.CSP.ChangePassword.

Hi community,

I am trying to map <assign value='source.{ORCgrp(1).RXE:7.1}' property='target.{ORCgrp(1).RXE:7.1}' action='set' /> in data transformation

My input value for source RXE isRXE:7.1 will be like Keep orders~New orders  ~       ~ new orders

 After mapping i am getting only First repetition  value i,e is only Keep orders value

I have tried using $EXTRACT like this <assign value='$EXTRACT(source.{ORCgrp(1).RXE:7.1},1,*)' property='target.{ORCgrp(1).RXE:7.1}' action='set' /> in data transformation  still getting First repetition value in target message

It can be obtained using AllFields query of %SYS.ProcessQuery class.

For the details, please refer to the document Process (Job)【IRIS】Process (Job).

An example of execution in the terminal is as follows.

USER>set stmt=##class(%SQL.Statement).%New()
USER>set st=stmt.%PrepareClassQuery("%SYS.ProcessQuery","AllFields")
USER>write st   // you can call %Execute() when st = 11
USER>set rset=stmt.%Execute()
USER>while rset.%Next() { write rset.%Get("JobNumber"),"-",rset.%Get("Pid"),"-",rset.%Get("OSUserName"),"-",rset.%Get("CurrentDevice"),"-",rset.%Get("Routine"),"-",rset.

Hello everybody. I have a problem a little bit strange. The thing is that there is a Task on Cache that by default is executed everyday at 4:00:00 that, with my settings, will delete all the Audit logs with more than 70 days of existence. The problem is that everyday this task is executed without an error message (status "Success" after the task is finished) but no data is cleaned, the same if I executed this particular task on the "Task Schedule" screen.

I found the thread that discusses object mapping, in particular mapping a common global among more than one namespace. The example that is given is a simple one when it's ^global(sub1, ^global(sub2, etc. However I'm having trouble getting this to compile/work when the global has a fixed subscript amongst variable ones.

I have this global in namespaces LAB and ARK in the following format:
^CB(1,sub1)=....

^CB(1,sub2)=...

^CB(1,sub3)=...

Here is what I have

Question Javier Gonzalez · Jun 1, 2017

I'm doing a REST service. A method has as body parameter a JSON corresponding to a class A.

In my production I have class A so that I retrieve the parameters using a dynamic object, such that:

Set body = ##class(%DynamicObject).%FromJSON(%request.Content)
Set myObjectA = ##class(A).%New()
Set myObjectA.Id = body.Id
Set myObjectA.Name = body.Name
Set myObjectA.Date = body.Date
Set myObjectA.Salary = body.Salary

I would like to know if I can avoid doing the manual mapping, doing a casting, since I am sure that FromJSON will return a class A. Something like this:

Set myObjectA = ##class(A).

※Use this method if you want to compare databases that have been replicated using mirroring, shadowing, or some other mechanism.

You can use the DATACHECK utility to compare global variables. Please refer to the document below.

Routine comparisons use the system routine %RCMP or the Management Portal.

Below is how to use it in the Management Portal.

Hi,

We have a global with 65 million entries. All we are doing is just iterating through each entry to find out the total no of entries. It is currently taking 110 minutes. Is this something normal? What can we do to speed up this process? Below is the program for just iterating each entry in the global.

s sub=" ,count=0
f{
     s sub=$o(^YYY(sub)) q:sub=""
     s count= count +1
     }
     w!, "Total Count:"_ count
