I have some .vm (Velocity Templating Language) files that I'd like to be able to load into IRIS with the $System.OBJ.Load(filename) command, but it seems that only accepts XML files.

I've tried adding import/export logic in my custom studio document that will wrap the velocity content inside an XML document and vice versa, I've changed the existing Velocity files to have the extension .xml and be wrapped in XML, and I've included a .dtd file for them to reference. However, this doesn't seem to work.

Does anyone have suggestions for how can I make my custom studio document work correctly

Recently I have been tinkering with VSCode and ObjectScript extension to connect to my dockerized IRIS instance. I have configured the instance to use Apache as a Web Gateway as per instructions and it has been working well. Currently I'm using a self-signed certificate for the SSL part of the connection. The browser nags about insecure certs when connecting to Management Portal but that's expected. 

However when I try to connect to the instance with VSCode it simply fails with the following error message

Invoking the Atelier API with a REST Client (Insecure = true) the API responds 200

Not so while ago GitHub introduced, ability to very quickly run VSCode in the browser for any repository hosted there. Press the . key on any repository or pull request, or swap .com with .dev in the URL, to go directly to a VS Code environment in your browser.

This VSCode is a light version of the Desktop version but works entirely in Browser. And due to this, it has a limitation for extensions which was allowed to work this way. And let me introduce the new version 1.2.1 of VSCode-ObjectScript extension which now supports running in Browser mode.

We are in the process of migrating from Ensemble to IRIS.

After the migration I would like to find all usages of deprecated classes and methods in all of our code. This is to align with the changes in package like %SYSTEM.SQL for example.

Is there an easy way to do this, or maybe a tool that can assist?

Has anyone had experience migrating source control projects from Subversion to Github, particularly when transitioning from InterSystems Studio to VSCode?

We recently moved from using the Private Web Server, to using an Apache/Web Gateway setup and moved towards using the built in LDAP functionality within IRIS. Since then, we have 1 user that uses VSCode (/api/atelier) heavily that continues to have issues signing into IRIS through VS Code and the /api/atelier extension.

I am trying to troubleshoot two issues..

• User having login failures with correct password. 

ERROR #798: LDAP login failed
ERROR #971: Invalid LDAP password, error 49, Invalid credentials:80090308: LdapErr: DSID-0C090449, comment: AcceptSecurityContext error, data 52e,

I'm working with isc.rest and am going through the tutorial right now. My project directory exists on my IRIS server. When I try to create a module.xml file in the root package, I get a #16006 error. I see that there is a "generate" command for zpm that should create a module.xml for me on my local filesystem. How can I create this module.xml in the same folder that holds my code living on the IRIS server?

I don't know why I can't get into management portal. I saw something related to permission issue of group allowed to start and stop and have already changed to root and Admin but still doesn't work.

I started "httpd server" and "IRIS".

If you're building solutions on IRIS and want to use Git, that's great! Just use VSCode with a local git repo and push your changes out to the server - it's that easy.

But what if:

• You're collaborating with other developers on a shared, remote development environment and want to avoid concurrent editing of the same file
• You're using editors based in the management portal for BPL, DTL, pivots, dashboards, etc. and want straightforward source control for your work
• You're still using Studio for some things and/or occasionally jump back there from VSCode - or, your team has not yet fully

I was wondering if anyone had come across a way of reformatting ObjectScript within VSCode.

I have the various Intersystems Extensions installed (InterSystems Language Pack,  InterSystems ObjectScript,  InterSystems ObjectScript Extension Pack,  InterSystems Server Manager) but a formatter does not seem to be something included within this variety of extensions.

How do I view the .int code of a compiled class in VS Code?

I am trying to use gj::Locate and the setup works, the explanation is all fine but when i paste an error from the Error Logs into the gj::locate it firstly tells me that it can't find the .cls and when I paste in the .int reference in the text box where you can specify the class, method, line+offset it replies that it can't find the item.

This is something to do with the objectscript extension rather than gj::locate

Hello everyone,
After upgrade to InterSystems ObjectScriptv2.12.3 extension an annoying "bulb" occured in the beggining of code line. If point upon it, there are some actions being offered. In my case, an action "Wrap in try/catch" is always among them, even if the code line is already within try/catch block. Another action which appears sometimes is "Extract to method". If accept, new method is inserted into the class with only one line body inside. IMHO, not too clever "AI solution" as well.
The question is: how to disable this "bulb"?

As most of you have heard already, InterSystems announced the deprecation of Studio with the release of IRIS 2023.2. A detailed deprecation plan was revealed in November, and we are now hitting the first milestone in that plan. Starting with 2024.2 preview kits, Windows kits will no longer contain Studio. This means that new installations using this kit will not install Studio, and upgrading an existing instance to version 2024.2 (or later) will remove Studio from the instance’s bin directory.

Developers who wish to keep using Studio simply need to download the 2024.1 Studio independent

Accessing Amazon S3 (Simple Storage Service) buckets programmatically is a common requirement for many applications. However, setting up and managing AWS accounts is daunting and expensive, especially for small-scale projects or local development environments. In this article, we'll explore how to overcome this hurdle by using Localstack to simulate AWS services. Localstack mimics most AWS services, meaning one can develop and test applications without incurring any costs or relying on an internet connection, which can be incredibly useful for rapid development and debugging. We used ObjectScript with embedded Python to communicate with Intersystems IRIS and AWS simultaneously.Before beginning, ensure you have Python and Docker installed on your system. When Localstack is set up and running, the bucket can be created and used. 

there is a setting in VSCode "objectscript.export: {noStorage: ture} "  allow export cls from server to client, without storage definition. 

However, wheneven I complied and save cls in my vscode client, the storage definition was added back. If I don't want it, I have to deleted the part manually.

In vscode objectscript extension, when you push "Ctrl + Slash" in the editor window, the comment delimiter "#;" is inserted. This feature helps me a lot to write comments in sources. But currently it does not have any options to change "#;" to other characters.

Some customers say "we prefer another comment style like //, so want // be put into the source in stead of #; when we push Ctrl + Slash". It makes sense to me. 

I put a new request on Github "[Request] want to change the comment style from "#;" which is inserted by "Ctrl + Slash".

My VSCode folder was set up to connect to a namespace, but the namespace was deleted. I tried changing the namespace from the menu but it fails (could not retrieve list of namespaces), but I do get the following error message:

This server does not have specified namespace 'FEAT-1-MY-FIRST-ISSUE'.

You must select one of the following: %SYS, CICD-DEMO, CUSTOMER, HSCUSTOM, HSLIB, HSSYS, PERSONAL, PHONEBOOK, USER.

Check your server details in Settings (gitlab-cicd-dev[FEAT-1-MY-FIRST-ISSUE]).

I solved this by recreating the namespace on the server, after that I could change the namespace

I recently moved to a Mac M2. I was already using VSCode on my intel-based Mac, and used the plug "objectscriptQuality for VSCode". It installs nicely, but it does not seem to do anything, not even an error. I installed the same java version (but ARM based) as on my old machine so that prerequisite is met. Also set the path to java in VSCode.

Any clues/has anyone got this working on a Mac based on Apple silicon M1/M2 chips?

Hello all !!! I  have a question: i heard it is possible to write Object Script code for Intersystems in VSCode. How it is possible to connect the InterSystems terminal to VSCode terminal ? I heard there should be a special docker. Currently i am trying to run a simple code which will communicate with the user through the terminal but it throws an error. thank you in advance for the answer !

When watching the Intersystems training videos (I am fairly new to IS) I notice there are far more options provided. For example from the video "Creating a Custom HL7 V2 Search Table" the following snippets are presented:
