Why gj :: locate?

You may think it isn’t too difficult to get from label+offset^routine to the actual source line responsible for the error.  For an expert it isn't that hard... most of the time.  But there are enough oddities and special rules that even an expert can get it wrong, whilst spending a lot of time trying to get there.

gj :: locate is the latest tool from George James Software – it debugs any error, class or routine by converting the location of an error in compiled .int code to the corresponding location in your source, and then taking you right there.

Hi developers,

We've incorporated VS Code's support for multiple concurrent debug sessions and consoles into the latest release of Serenji

So if you're working with processes that relate or are dependent on each other, you can now debug them together. Just launch a second Serenji debug session (F5) whilst the first one is still active.

This short video below shows how it works. We hope you find this feature useful!

After >40 years writing in-countable lines of code in M*/COS/ISOS (and a bunch of archaic  languages)
I decided for myself to set a strong signal for the future. We have Embedded Python available
(still pre-release)! I just felt it as a sacrilege to ignore this excellent NEW opportunity and
stay with the old sermon that I had used for decades.

Hi community,

Prediction is a critical to the Maternal healthcare. The Health Dataset Application (https://openexchange.intersystems.com/package/Health-Dataset) has 10 real health datasets to predict the most important diseases and health problems, including Maternal Risk.

This article detail the steps to predict Maternal Risk using the InterSystems IRIS IntegratedML. This is a technology of InterSystems to do predictions using SQL Commnands! Great!

Follow these steps:

Index

This is a list of all the posts in the data platforms capacity planning and performance series in order. Also a general list of my other posts. I will update as new posts in the series are added.

You will notice that I wrote some of the posts before IRIS was released and refer to Caché. I will revisit the posts over time, but in the meantime; Generally, the advice for configuration is the same for Caché and IRIS. Some command names may have changed; the most obvious example is that anywhere you see ^pButtons command, you can replace it with ^SystemPerformance.

Capacity Planning and Performance Series

Generally posts build on previous, but you can also just dive in to subjects that look interesting.

In my earlier article on Adopting Bitmaps I described the technique already.
Now you can find a code example also on Open Exchange.

This is a coding example working on Caché 2018.1.3 and IRIS 2020.2
It will not be kept in sync with new versions
It is also NOT serviced by InterSystems Support !

Hi Developers!

This is the second post on the resources for Developers. This part is about Open Exchange

Using Open Exchange to Learn InterSystems

InterSystems Open Exchange is a applications gallery of tools, connectors, and libraries which InterSystems Developers submit to share the experience, approaches and do business. All the applications are either built with InterSystems data platforms or are intended to use for development with InterSystems data platforms.

If you are a beginner developer you can take a look at applications in Technology Example category. All the applications in this category come with open source code repositories, so you are able to run the samples and examples in a docker container with IRIS on your laptop or in the cloud IRIS sandbox. Examples:

InterSystems has corrected a defect in applications that use Unicode character 223 (ß). This defect can result in incomplete query results, class compilation errors, and removal of custom SQL privileges.

This problem occurs on systems that are running or have previously run on:

  • Caché and Ensemble 2018.1.0, 2018.1.1, and 2018.1.2
  • HealthShare Health Connect (HSAP) 15.032 on Core versions 2018.1.0, 2018.1.1, and 2018.1.2
  • HealthShare Health Connect 2019.1
  • InterSystems IRIS data platform – all currently released versions
  • InterSystems IRIS for Health – all currently released versions

The defect is triggered by data and component names containing Unicode character 223 (ß). In the versions listed above, an uppercase conversion incorrectly maps that character to Unicode character 7838 (ẞ).  Applications perform this uppercase conversion using features such as $ZCONVERT and %SQLUPPER.

Problems can occur when accessing data or classes created or modified on a product with a different uppercase conversion than the one currently in use.

Currently, many of you has some knowledge about CachéQuality (which is being renamed to objectscriptQuality) for analyzing objectscript code using the rules we have predefined. Probably you have tested it and have found too many warnings in your projects. I'm sure there are issues which are really important for you and some others which you would like to dismiss.
