Studio is a client application, built using Caché objects, that runs on Windows-based operating systems. It can connect to any Caché server (compatible with the current version of Studio) regardless of what platform and operating system that server is using.

Question Pietro Di Leo · Jul 4, 2025

Hello everybody,

I would like to export project contents using Visual Studio Code, as well as I do with InterSystems Studio.

However, while attempting the export through the InterSystems extension I get the following error:

- There are no folders in the current workspace that code can be exported to.

These are the step to reproduce my error:

 1. Create and save a new VSCode workspace
 2. Open a local directory
 3. Go to the InterSystems extension
 4. Open "Projects" panel and right-click on the project you want to export
 5. Click on "Export Project Contents"

Anyone can help me solving this issue?

We have created a CSP application in the path /csp/ourapp. Due to some session handling issues, we created a new web application /csp/ourapp/hl7mapping that points to the sane namespace, and we now access the CSP pages using this new URL. This works fine in the local system.

After deploying the app to server, we are facing issues around compiling CSP pages.

We noticed that following compilation command works for CSP files located under the physical path /csp/ourapp, but it does not compile the CSP files placed under /CSP/ourapp/hl7mapping.

do $SYSTEM.CSP.LoadPageDir("/CSP/ourapp/","ck")

I'm pleased to announce version 2.6.0 of the VS Code ObjectScript extension, containing a number of enhancements that make a developer's life easier. Some highlights are described below. As always, find the full list of modifications in the CHANGELOG, including many bug and vulnerability fixes.

Switch namespaces quickly

Thanks to @Olli Tanskanen at partner company JediSoft Oy for this enhancement! You can now switch namespaces from the Server Actions menu (when using client-side folders only).

Hello InterSystems Community,

I hope you're all doing well. I'm reaching out to ask if there's any way to enable a dark theme or dark mode for the HealthShare Management Portal.

Background

I have a visual impairment (amblyopia/lazy eye) which means I'm nearly blind in one eye. Like many people with visual difficulties, I find that bright white backgrounds and interfaces cause significant eye strain and fatigue. This makes it challenging to work with the Management Portal for extended periods.

Introduction

Since InterSystems has recently announced the discontinuation of support for InterSystems Studio starting from version 2023.2 in favor of exclusive development of extensions for the Visual Studio Code (VSC) IDE, believing that the latter offers a superior experience compared to Studio, many of us developers have switched or are beginning to use VSC. Many may have wondered how to open the Terminal to perform operations, as VSC does not have an Output panel like Studio did, nor an integrated feature to open the IRIS terminal, except by downloading the plugins developed by InterSystems.

Studio's Find In Files finds nothing if CLS routines are included. The error is WIDE CHAR. After using ##class(%Studio.Project).FindInFiles programmatically and then ZW after the same error I strongly suspect that CodeWalkopdatecopyopt in EnsLib.InteropTools.HL7.Cloverleaf.Parser.cls is to blame. I cannot even open this class, unlike other classes from EnsLib.InteropTools.HL7. This error prevents searching even if System Items are excluded and I would peg EnsLib as System. Any remedy besides updating IRIS? Assuming this is fixed in later IRIS versions.

Recently, I replaced my old laptop with a new one and had to migrate all my data. I was looking for a guide but couldn’t find anything that explained in detail how to migrate server connections from InterSystems Studio and Visual Studio Code from one PC to another. Simply reinstalling the tools is not enough, and migrating all the connections manually seemed like a waste of time. In the end, I managed to solve the problem, and this article explains how.

Exporting Server Connections

Hi everyone,

I'm preparing to move to a new PC soon and I'm trying to migrate the server connections I use in IRIS Studio to the new environment.

I’ve followed without success an old procedure I've found on a post on the community that involves exporting the registry key from:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\WOW6432Node\Intersystems\Cache\Servers

But I’ve realized that this only includes the entries from the Server Manager and not the actual server connections used within IRIS Studio and shown within the "Server Connections" menu.

Question Colin Brough · Apr 30, 2025

We have classes in a Production environment that are causing us some issues - example attached.

When we export them from the production environment the XML contains a snippet like the following:

<UDLText name="T">

//Property any As list Of %XML.String(XMLNAME = "any", XMLPROJECTION = "ANY") [ SqlFieldName = _any ];

</UDLText>

When imported and compiled into an Ensemble instance this class works as expected.

When viewed/edited in a development environment we run into issues - the presentation is similar with both Studio and VS Code.

Windows 10/Windows Server 2016:

I am currently monitoring our license use with a new rest-service I am implementing when I noticed my licenses on my instance being consumed and never released by Visual Studio Code.

For this I restarted my Instance, watched the licenses for a while, which remained at 1 during idle (I am guessing my MMGT Portal session uses 1)
But when I connect to my Instance using Visual Studio Code (with my Instance setup in the extension already), suddenly 2 licenses are used. (I am guessing 1 for the "studio" and 1 for a terminal session, so far so good)

Background:

This guideline provides an overview of how to design and implement a REST API interface for querying patient demographic data from an Electronic Patient Record (EPR) system using HealthConnect. The process involves sending a query request with the patient's identification number, retrieving the response from the EPR system, extracting the required patient demographic data from the HL7 message, and sending it as a JSON response to the supplier. The high-level process diagram is shown below (Screenshot 1).

Hi Community,

This is a detailed, candid walkthrough of the IRIS AI Studio platform. I speak out loud on my thoughts while trying different examples, some of which fail to deliver expected results - which I believe is a need for such a platform to explore different models, configurations and limitations. This will be helpful if you're interested in how to build 'Chat with PDF' or data recommendation systems using IRIS DB and LLM models.

It's been a while since I've posted about Embedded Git on the Developer Community, and I'd like to provide an update on the massive amount of work we've done this year and where we're going next.

Context

If you're building solutions on IRIS and want to use Git, that's great! Just use VSCode with a local git repo and push your changes out to the server - it's that easy.

But what if:

Hello everyone! This is my first post into the developer community and one that I hope is fairly simple to answer. In our environment we currently have 3 different Test environments for testing before migrating code to our Prod environment. Currently we are working on establishing a source control method using Git in house which has been a bit of a struggle. We have also had developers that had used different test and migration methods in the past which has caused some issues with keeping the different test environment in sync.

I'm experiencing an issue while compiling code in Visual Studio Code with "cuk" qualifiers.

When I try to compile, the following message appears after a while:

In VSC, the "cuk" qualifiers are always used as default and the following message is shown in the Output panel of VSC when a compilation is successful:

I'm unsure if it is possible to replace the cuk qualifiers with something else.

The issue doesn't occur when compiling the same class in InterSystems Studio, where, in this case, the qualifiers "cuk /checkuptodate=expandedonly" are used as default:
