When looking at the "Current License Usage Summary" web page, there is a line for both local and distributed "Maximum Connections". I have scrutinized every class that seems reasonable to contain this information but have found nothing that matches the values on the web page. I do not believe these are related to license specifically though I did review all of the potential attributes of the license related classes to no avail.

Problems with Strings

I am accessing IRIS databases with JDBC (or ODBC) using Python. I want to fetch the data into a pandas dataframe to manipulate the data and create charts from it. I ran into a problem with string handling while using JDBC. This post is to help if anyone else has the same issues. Or, if there is an easier way to solve this, let me know in the comments!

I am using OSX, so I am unsure how unique my problem is. I am using Jupyter Notebooks, although the code would generally be the same if you used any other Python program or framework.

As we keep updating our software, we often realize that we require more and more modern solutions. So far, only one major piece of our software relies on reading barcodes in documents and images. Since Cache did not have a means of reading barcodes in the past, we have always achieved our goals by using a Visual Basic 6 application. However, it is no longer an ideal solution because it is currently complicated to maintain it. IRIS also lacks this capability, but it has recently got an option that makes up for it: embedded Python!

Learning LLM Magic

The world of Generative AI has been pretty inescapable for a while, commercial models running on paid Cloud instances are everywhere. With your data stored securely on-prem in IRIS, it might seem daunting to start getting the benefit of experimentation with Large Language Models without having to navigate a minefield of Governance and rapidly evolving API documentation. If only there was a way to bring an LLM to IRIS, preferably in a very small code footprint....

Our objective

In the last article, we talked about a few starters for Django. We learned how to begin the project, ensure we have all the requisites, and make a CRUD. However, today we are going a little further.
Sometimes we need to access more complex methods, so today, we will connect IRIS to a Python environment, build a few functions and display them on a webpage. It will be similar to the last discussion, but further enough for you to make something new, even though not enough to feel lost.

Hi everyone,

I'm attempting to compile a basic Python code on a remote server, but it appears that the compiler doesn't recognize the language.

The remote server is running a virtual machine with Oracle Linux Server 7.9 (64-bit), and it has IRIS for UNIX (Red Hat Enterprise Linux for x86-64) 2021.1 (Build 215U) [HealthConnect:3.3.0] installed.

When I try to compile a script that includes a Python ClassMethod, such as this "testpy.cls":

I think it's a known fact that Populate Utility has very limited functionality. It supports only one language and one country. The list of possible values does not have so many options.

There is a kind of tool that now can help with it, named Faker. It has implementations in different languages, including Python. Since IRIS has now had the Embedded Python feature, Python faker can be implemented in IRIS.

I am trying to create a database using python. The example shows setting a Name string and a Properties object containing Directory=.

IRISPIP Cryptodome C++ Error

Hello,

I need AES ECB with PKSC7 padding for an interface.
Unfortunately, the %SYSTEM.Encryption.AESEncode cannot do this.

Therefore I wanted to include the following python lib.
PyCrptydome -> https://pycryptodome.readthedocs.io/en/latest/index.html

We need to install the package offline on the system. So I downloaded it and put it in the MGR/Python/ directory.

However, when I try to install it, I get the following error message:
