Can anyone suggest suitable Cache ObjectScript syntax for open/use/read statements on a simple ms-dos text file. I've tried various examples seen on the web but they appear to be implementation specific. I used MSM MUMPS many years ago but am now retired & would like to write a few simple routines for my own amusement & mental challenge. We have the need to write a function that can loop through say a field in an OBX segment within HL7 and compare it to a string passed. Is it possible to have the user enter the Operator ( >,<,=,<>) as a variable inside Cache object script? Does anyone have any examples they can share?
I'm looking to find if there is a datatype convert equivalent in Object Script to SQL convert function. Have a VarBinary string coming in from source application (which is really performing a SQL dump). The source application uses the standard SQL convert function to convert from varchar to varbinary on their side.
I know &sql(Convert()) should work in Object Script, but am wondering if there is a better way of doing this.

At the moment I am trying to write a documentation file for a project and intend to use LaTeX for it. Has anyone already had experience with this? I haven't found syntax highlighting with the LaTeX packages I know yet. I found a request on Pygment but it was from 2016 and there was no reply on it since then.
Does anyone know a simple way for syntax highlighting COS in LaTeX? Thanks for your input!
Forgive my lack of understanding, but I am working on a vendor created Cache database and the indexes specified in the classes for ODBC connections are not working. A few of them are created, but of the 50+ classes we have, only a handful of them are created when the class is compiled, yet no errors occur.
I was hoping to be able to print the Authentication Enabled properties of a system from the command line using the Get or GetProperties class method. Currently, however, I am only able to get a return 1 or Invalid Oref error.
After upgrading I ran a $SYSTEM.OBJ.CompileAllNamespaces("u"). What I got in return was kind of a shock.
In reviewing errors I am seeing code being referenced but no longer applies. It is referring to stuff that might of been defined in the Context , Formal Spec ,Thread , etc.

I've been trying to figure out how to use an ObjectScript class to search other classes for specific strings. To be very specific, I want to be able to search business rules to see if a particular DTL is in the rule. We have some orphaned DTL's in our Ensemble productions and I want to make sure that they're not being used.
I am trying to get a list of all settings for all the config items of a given production using SQL . When I run the following sql as a dynamic query I am unable to access the setting names and values. Settings is a list of Ens.Config.Setting
There does not seem to be any separation between the error code and error text in a %Status object. For custom errors, I simply want to display the message and not Error #5001: Some error text.

Background: We have our own SQL map that predates InterSystems'. A program writes an XML file for each table map class as $system.OBJ.Export would. $system.OBJ.LoadDir loads the XML files into .cls files.
The reason is a long story, but we need to update parameter EXTENTSIZE (only) in existing classes. This does not seem to happen. As a test I used $system.OBJ.Export to make an XML file and edited EXTENTSIZE in the two places it appears in the XML:
I am working on tweaking our current patient load process. The roster input is in text pipe delimited format, parsed out and transforms it to a standard HS.Message.PatientSearchRequest, and send to business process for patient matching. Result is transformed into a standard ADT HL7 message using EnsLib.HL.Message class. I would like to know if there is another class I can use that will transform my output to a text flat file pipe delimited instead of HL7 format? any advice on how to do this is greatly appreciated.

When overwriting the Read method (that has a %CacheString return type) on a new class that inherits %Stream.FileCharacter class, returns an error about incorrect return type, must be Binary, even if it matched the real signature.
