InterSystems ObjectScript is a scripting language to operate with data using any data model of InterSystems Data Platform (Objects, Relational, Key-Value, Document, Globals) and to develop business logic for serverside applications on InterSystems Data Platform.
Recently, I migrated a series of Objectscript repositories from XML to UDL format.
After the migration, I was a bit disappointed by the presentation on the GitLab web interface.
Since Objectscript syntax is supported by GitHub, I thought It would be also supported by GitLab. Unfortunately, the library used by GitLab to highlight the code does not have an extension to support Objectscript.
Methods written in ObjectScript can use pass-by-reference arguments to return information to the caller. Python doesn’t support pass-by-reference arguments, so Embedded Python in IRIS doesn’t support them either. Our company is in the process of converting our software for use in Intersystems IRIS and one of the major sections of the software makes use of a custom statically-linked C library using the $ZF("function-name") functionality. During this, I found out that the process for setting up the C library to be used within the database platform has changed significantly between Cache and IRIS.
You may think it isn’t too difficult to get from label+offset^routine to the actual source line responsible for the error. For an expert it isn't that hard... most of the time. But there are enough oddities and special rules that even an expert can get it wrong, whilst spending a lot of time trying to get there.

The InterSystems ObjectScript language does not allow you to define methods of the same name with different arguments. It is generally classified as a programming language called a dynamic language.
In ObjectScript, you can freely control which arguments are used when executing a method, so unlike languages such as Java, which are not dynamic programming languages, there is no need to strictly distinguish methods by the number of arguments at the compilation stage.
Suppose you have a Github repository with ObjectScript classes but without a Docker environment.
Recently I published a repository with a set of files that form a universal Docker and VSCode environment to let you either import and run your repository in InterSystems IRIS Community Edition on Docker or turn your repository into Docker and VSCode environment for InterSystems IRIS Community Edition.

The base class Bmap.Person defines persons within an organization distributed by various countries. All records are indexed by (Country, PersonalId). this structure doesn't allow use of bitmaps.
So a wrapper class Bmap.PersonQ around the data eliminates the top level of the index (Country) and isolates the PersonalId (%Integer, MINVAL=1). We are ready to use a Bitmap index.
A few performance figures on 300010 generated records. You see that Relative Cost are sometimes quite misleading.
I will give you some additional information on my first embedded Python package. it is written as a mix of python and ObjectScript to take the best of both worlds.
The Caché / Ensemble standard distribution contains in namespace SAMPLES a nice example of a CSP page consuming WebService as a Client. I have modified it not only to display the replies but to feed them back into a Global. I used the classic Hyperevent to achieve this. The replies end up as a log in global^WSREPLY. When there is no input anymore the page closes and goes away.
There are 2 versions with visible and hidden display during operation. dc.WSCSP.reverseVerbose.cls and dc.WSCSP.reverseHidden.cls

ObjectScript-Math is an Open Source library for ObjectScript Math functions. It is now available on Open Exchange. This library contains a mix of new functions that are not currently available and functions that are available. The existing functions will be wrapped for use from ObjectScript-Math so that all Math functions can have a central location.
