As a complete platform, InterSystems IRIS eliminates the need to integrate multiple development technologies. Applications require less code, fewer system resources, and less maintenance.

Question Ashok Kumar T · Dec 19, 2023

Hello Community,

How to properly connect and run the Grafana with my local IRIS community instance  in Windows machine. I had executed Mr. @Dmitry Maslennikov contianerzied environment from this POST  and it's working pretty. However the Plugin is not yet posted in the Grafana plugin datasource. What is the roadmap to do setup and establish connection same in my local environment . I have read some additional community post for reference

Good morning,

First of all thanks for your help and time.

We find ourselves at a crossroads in our development journey, and we're reaching out to the community for insights and guidance regarding a critical aspect of our data management strategy.

Our current challenge revolves around the persistence of data in Globals, specifically when it comes to purging. The issue at hand is that, despite purging, data stored in Globals under the current %Persistent classes remains intact. To address this, we are contemplating a shift from %Persistent to %SerialObject for each relevant class.

InterSystems FAQ rubric

There is no need to recompile the routines after the version upgrade, but since the version update overwrites %SYS, user-created INT and OBJ format routines (*.INT,*.OBJ) in %SYS will be deleted. Therefore, you need to be careful.

MAC, INT and OBJ routines with the following names are not deleted.

%Z*.INT, %z*.INT, Z*.INT,z*.INT
%Z*.OBJ, %z*.OBJ, Z*.OBJ,z*.OBJ

Please note that classes/CSPs need to be compiled after upgrading.

However, if you are upgrading to a maintenance release, no compilation is required. For details, please refer to the document below.

I am using the event logger from CSP gateway with level "v9r" enabled, in order to dump the raw content of some HTTP requests.

I would like to decode the body response data, when it's in binary form. AFAIK the event logger will convert characters outside the 32-127 range (EBCDIC) to the "\xff" notation (where ff is a hexadecimal value). Here is an example :

Content What is written in the log Remark
helloworld helloworld
hello £ world hello \xc2\xa3 world £ is C2A3 in Unicode
hello \xc2\xa3 world hello \xc2\xa3 world same as line above !

Question Enrico Parisi · Dec 27, 2023

I just realized that operating system command execution does not work on Windows console if the IRIS service is started using a different user than Local System account (the default).

I always change the user configured in the IRIS service and I believe this is a standard good practice, particularly in "real" environments (be it production, stage, test or development) that are part of Windows Active Directory Domain.

Here you'll find a simple program that uses Python in an IRIS environment and another simple program that uses ObjectScript in a Python environment. Also, I'd like to share a few of the troubles I went trough while learning to implement this.

Python in IRIS environment

Let's say, for example, you're in an IRIS environment and you want to solve a problem that you find easy, or more efficient with Python.

You can simply change the environment: create your method as any other, and in the end of it's name and specifications, you add [ Language = python ]:

Hello,

I've been running IRIS in a container for a while with the durable %SYS feature. Previously, I was running IRIS 2022.x version and decided to upgrade to 2023.1. During image build, I create some namespaces and install a FHIR repo into one of them using the following script:

Do ##class(HS.FHIRServer.Installer).InstallNamespace()
Do ##class(HS.FHIRServer.Installer).InstallInstance(appKey, strategyClass, metadataPackages)

Hello community,

I am trying to see the complete HL7 message for the class EnsLib.HL7.Message.

But it is showing the truncated version only.

I also tried to convert to stream

msg.OutputToLibraryStream(.streammsg)
newmsg=##class(EnsLib.HL7.Message).ImportFromLibraryStream(streammsg)

While (streammsg.AtEnd = 0) {
     Set len = 1000
        Set tPrintMessage=newstream.Read(.len)
     Write tPrintMessage
}

But when i print it, its not showing complete message.

Any idea or suggestions?

Thank you in advance.

Jimmy Christian.

1. IRIS RAG Demo

IRIS RAG Demo

This demo showcases the powerful synergy between IRIS Vector Search and RAG (Retrieval Augmented Generation), providing a cutting-edge approach to interacting with documents through a conversational interface. Utilizing InterSystems IRIS's newly introduced Vector Search capabilities, this application sets a new standard for retrieving and generating information based on a knowledge base. The backend, crafted in Python and leveraging the prowess of IRIS and IoP, the LLM model is orca-mini and served by the ollama server. The frontend is an chatbot written with Streamlit.

InterSystems FAQ rubric

If multiple InterSystems products are installed on the same system, the latest version of the InterSystems ODBC driver among the installed products will remain registered in the driver manager.

You can change to any driver by changing the registry entry below.

 Please note that running RegFiles.bat does not change the ODBC driver.

The registry entry is as follows.

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\ODBC\ODBCINST.INI\InterSystems ODBC35 key Driver
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\ODBC\ODBCINST.INI\InterSystems ODBC35 key Setup

In the wew versions of IRIS the Studio is going to be deprecated. In the Studio when editing classes there is an option to add information at package level, with the option "Package Information" that shows this dialog:

In VSCode there is the option to add/edit this package information? If no, how can one add/edit this information without the Studio?

Thanks.

Question Michael Lundberg · Dec 20, 2023

Hello!

I wonder how to select a conditional value from a Table column that has lists of values?
Example: I have a table in the database that looks like below:

ID Itemname IDList
1 TestItem 1 7 10 17

For example, I want to know which Itemname it is for number 10 that is in the IDList. What should this SQL syntax look like? I have tried %INLIST and other things but only get blank value. How should the SQL-syntax for that query look like?

Greatful for all tips.
Regards,
Michael

Occasionally, in VSCode, compile errors stop displaying. I'll be getting errors on compile all along (expected, and it compiles while saving using CTRL+S), until they'll suddenly stop. I haven't found any solution, including restarting VSCode and restarting my user session in Fedora. I'm running IRIS locally on Fedora and running VSCode also on the same machine. The only solution I've found is to restart IRIS. It's a solo dev environment and relatively small, so restarting isn't anything but an annoyance.

Are there any known bugs around this or any other solutions?

Question Ashok Kumar T · Dec 19, 2023

Hello Community,.

I've updated the IRIS community form 2023.2 to 2023.3 and I didn't see the User defined(Sample) error messages in ^IRIS.Msg global even I verified in both pointer and data level. I re run the set x=##class(%MessageDictionary).Import("error.xml") After import I could see the pointers and data in ^IRIS.Msg

Is the User defined error will reset from the server after IRIS upgrade?

Regards,

Ashok

InterSystems FAQ rubric

If you restart the OS after changing the machine name without stopping InterSystems IRIS (hereinafter referred to as IRIS), a problem occurs when IRIS cannot start.

To get started, delete the <installation directory>\mgr\iris.ids file.

iris.ids file stores the started node name and shared memory information (shared memory ID). It is created when IRIS starts and deleted when stopped (iris stop or iris force). If you stop (restart) the OS without stopping IRIS, iris.ids, which contains IRIS startup information, may remain.

If Iris does propose to create keys following a sequence, how can we obtain a sequential number in another context?

In my case, I automatically create care centers, and I want to set them a number like:

APP-DD-999

APP = Name of the application used by the center
DD = center department number
999: sequential number in the department
It is of course possible that centers will be created in competition, so this possible competition must be managed.

My first approach was to use a persistent class and create a new object to retrieve its id, but this involves creating as many classes as departments.
