Working in healthcare IT as a young developer, especially on InterSystems TrakCare, you quickly realize one thing: it’s not just about HL7 messages or backend integrations. A huge part of making TrakCare work smoothly for hospitals comes down to how it’s configured, customized, and supported on the application side.

That’s where people like me come in—techno-functional developers who understand both the tech and how it impacts actual hospital workflows.

I am brand new to using AI. I downloaded some medical visit progress notes from my Patient Portal. I extracted text from PDF files. I found a YouTube video that showed how to extract metadata using an OpenAI query / prompt such as this one:

I’m working with an existing InterSystems IRIS server that hosts several web applications and namespace-specific code and data. I’d like to reverse-engineer the current environment into a %Installer.Manifest file so I can store it in Git and manage its changes.

My goal is to:

• Track the application setup and configuration in version control
• Rebuild environments consistently (namespaces, CSP apps, security roles, etc.)
• Possibly automate deployments later on

I understand that %Installer is declarative and wasn’t necessarily designed to reflect a running system.

We are attempting to update some old FTP interfaces to use FTPS and having an issue with an outbound operation to a FileZilla server.

The connection to the the server works, however it fails to transfer files with the error "TLS session of data connection not resumed."

It appears that "TLS session resumption" is no longer optional in FileZilla Server, and I cannot find any details in the IRIS documentation about it.

Does IRIS support TLS session resumption, or know how to set up FTPS to a recent install of FileZilla Server?

With Intersystems indicating ZEN pages are being deprecated, I'm looking to find out how to add custom configuration pages for the management portal using the new method similar to the new Rules editor.

From what I can tell the new method uses rest pages using JWT Authentication, and has a mechanism to use the session cookie to generate the JWT token.

You can check the free disk space at any time using the system utility class: SYS.Database and query: FreeSpace.

Here's how to try it in the IRIS terminal (go to the %SYS namespace and then run it):

I feel I may be in the "people unclear on the concept" group here.

System Default Settings is a great mechanism, and we use some custom code to deploy it in our pipeline after environment specific changes have been applied to the content. However, we are trying our best to reduce the amount of custom code we use in our system that does not relate directly to the business. For CI/CD, this means we are trying to leverage IPM for the heavy lifting.

Is there a method for handling System Default Settings in IPM that I am just overlooking?

We are looking for experienced InterSystems IRIS for Health developers to join a long-term healthcare technology project. You must be USA-based and available to work full-time remotely.

How to access the Python Shell?

To launch the Python shell from the IRIS terminal, simply run the following command:

do ##class(%SYS.Python).Shell()

This opens an interactive Python shell inside the IRIS terminal. From here, you can write and run Python code just as you would in a normal Python environment.

I was running code in the terminal and attempted to interrupt its execution. During that process, I encountered an application error with a log entry dated 01/06/1841, the date seems unusual.

Good morning everyone,
In the facility we're working in, we have two separate installations for testing and production. In the test environment, we have production processes running properly, and we need to replicate production processes and settings in the production environment. Until now, when we move from a test environment to a production environment, we currently export the test classes, import them into production, and manually configure the production environment by connecting Services, Processes, and Operations and configuring the settings.

I need to implement a retry policy for an incoming message queue containing thousands of relatively small messages.

Successfully processed messages should be immediately removed from the queue.

If an error occurs while processing a message, the message should be sent back at the end of the queue, and the pause before re-processing this message should increase geometrically (1-2-4-8-16 seconds, and so on). In languages that support the async/await pattern, I'd simply create a delayed timer that triggers a fire-and-forget task. This would prevent blocking the main thread.

I have a mirrored database called ROUTER.

I have a primary server T1 and a "Disaster Recovery" server T2.

When I activate ROUTER database on T2, I get the error it says the "Database could not be mounted".

I went to the audit database and it shows "Attempt to access a protected database".

T2 in mirror monintor shows "Connected" "Caught up" "Warning! Some databases need attention"

T2 show the ROUTER database as being "Mounted/R"
Both T1 & T2 are Linux servers. The ROUTER database file IRIS.DAT have the same Linux permissions

All productions on T1/T2 are not running.

I'm using EnsLib.TCP.TextLineOutboundAdapter to communicate with a third-party system over TCP/IP. The issue is that the system sends back only an integer (e.g. 1001 or -1) without any terminator (like $c(10)).

The adapter expects a terminator and always times out with ErrTCPTerminatedReadTimeoutExpired, even though the correct data is received. Here an example of an error:

As foreign tables are behind a paywall (booo); we have a external cache system using the intersystems ODBC driver or usually a .jar CacheDB.jar. 

The requirement is :

"Create a copy of the external table once a day to perform comparisons to detect changes"

We could go full code and this is what we will do but trying the following should ideally work
