Hello, how are you?

Using Healthshare for Interoperability, we often see a wide variety of encoding issues. Some happen when transforming XML to HL7. Some happen the other ay around transforming HL7 to XML.

Is there a valid way to understand which encoding needs to be used?

I ask, because we use SOAP or REST or TCP HL7 services.

And we deliver messages with TCP HL7, SOAP, HTTP Operations.

And we often face this issue where special characters like ñ or á, are not encoded correctly.

Thanks for your replies.

Hey everyone.

I have a web service which is receiving XML as a stream, and I'm intending to then correlate the stream into an object. Unfortunately I am hitting a road block where the sender places a large chunk of the XML within a cdata block which is then causing the correlate of %XML.Reader to not work.

The structure of my xml is along the lines of:

I have my objectscript classes built that conform to the above, a

Hello,

Are there any utilities/api in HealthConnect 2016.2.1 that will allow conversion of XML virtual document to Json format? We were thinking to convert HL7 ADT message to XML via Ensemble DTL and then send it to another BP to convert to Json format for transmission via Web Services. To my understanding there isn't anyway to represent Json as a virtual object so it can be use for direct mapping of HL7 2.x message to Json via Ensemble DTL.

Thanks

I would like to share with you a little trick to customize how messages are displayed in the Message Viewer. In particular, how you can display messages as JSON (instead of the default XML representation).

Messages are objects that are used to communicate interoperability productions components. In my example I have defined a message that later I serialize as JSON to send to an external API. This message is defined as a regular message and also as a %JSON.Adaptor so I can export / import directly to or from JSON.

Class interop.msg.DeviceOrderReq Extends (Ens.Request, %JSON.Adaptor)

What is XML?

XML(eXtensible Markup Language) is a flexible, text-based, andplatform-independentformat used to store and transport data in a well-structured way that is both human- and machine-readable. XML permits users to define custom tags to describe the meaning and organization of their data. For example: <book><title>The Hitchhiker's Guide</title></book>.

An XML document is self-descriptive and structured as a hierarchical tree of elements. Every document has a single root element that encapsulates all other content. Elements can contain text, child elements, and attributes (name-val

Hi,

I’m working in Ensemble and trying to resend a message from the Message Viewer. The message is in XML format.

When I try to edit the XML before resending,

  • I open the message in the Message Viewer.
  • I click Resend or Edit & Resend.

I’m looking for guidance on:

  1. How to make a message editable in Message Viewer.
  2. The proper way to modify an XML message before resending in Ensemble/IRIS.

Any suggestions or examples would be very helpful.

Hello community,

I wanted to share my experience about working on Large Data projects. Over the years, I have had the opportunity to handle massive patient data, payor data and transactional logs while working in an hospital industry. I have had the chance to build huge reports which had to be written using advanced logics fetching data across multiple tables whose indexing was not helping me write efficient code.

Here is what I have learned about managing large data efficiently.

Choosing the right data access method.

As we all here in the community are aware of, IRIS provides multiple ways to access data. Choosing the right method, depends on the requirement.

  • Direct Global Access: Fastest for bulk read/write operations. For example, if i have to traverse through indexes and fetch patient data, I can loop through the globals to process millions of records. This will save a lot of time.
Set ToDate=+HSet FromDate=+$H-1ForSet FromDate=$O(^PatientD("Date",FromDate)) Quit:FromDate>ToDate Do
. Set PatId=""ForSet PatId=$Order(^PatientD("Date",FromDate,PatID)) Quit:PatId=""Do
. . Write$Get(^PatientD("Date",FromDate,PatID)),!
  • Using SQL: Useful for reporting or analytical requirements, though slower for huge data sets.

The ObjectScript language has incredible JSON support through classes like %DynamicObject and %JSON.Adaptor. This support is due to the JSON format's immense popularity over the previous dominance of XML. JSON brought less verbosity to data representation and increased readability for humans who needed to interpret JSON content. To further reduce verbosity and increase readability, the YAML format was created. The very easy-to-read YAML format quickly became the most popular format for representing configurations and parameterizations, due to its readability and minimal verbosity. While XML is

IRIS supports CCDA and FHIR transformations out-of-the-box, yet the ability to access and view those features requires considerable setup time and product knowledge. The IRIS Interop DevTools application was designed to bridge that gap, allowing implementers to immediately jump in and view the built-in transformation capabilities of the product.

In addition to the IRIS XML, XPath, and CCDA Transformation environment, the Interop DevTools package now provides:

  • FHIR-SDA Transformation setup
  • SDA-FHIR Transformation setup
  • Bubbling up of FHIR validation errors

Hi Community,
In this article, I will introduce my application iris-fhir-bridge
IRIS-FHIR-Bridge is a robust interoperability engine built on InterSystems IRIS for Health, designed to transform healthcare data across multiple formats into FHIR and vice versa. It leverages the InterSystems FHIR Object Model (HS.FHIRModel.R4.*) to enable smooth data standardization and exchange across modern and legacy healthcare systems.

As part of a process to generate FHIR XML bundles from HL7 messages, I have a subtransform transforming segments of an MDM_T02 message into a section of XML (EnsLib.EDI.XML.Document). So far this has worked well although I've encountered strange behaviour when making use of an xmlns attribute, whereby the attribute's name is duplicated despite the schema and DTL editor displaying it correctly.

Here's a snippet of the div.xmlns definition from the XSD schema used

Has anyone else encountered this? Any help is much appreciated

In a project I'm working on we need to store some arbitrary XML in the database. This XML does not have any corresponding class in IRIS, we just need to store it as a string (it's relatively small and can fit in a string).
Since there are MANY (millions!) of records in the database I decided to reduce as much as possible the size without compressing. I know that some XML to be stored is indented, some not, it varies.
To reduce the size I decided to minify  the XML, but how do I minify an XML document in IRIS?

Is there a generic process for "walking" the structure of a virtual document - eg an HL7 message (EnsLib.HL7.Message) or an XML document (EnsLib.EDI.XML.Document).

At least we'd want to be able to visit all "nodes" (HL7 fields or sub-fields, XML nodes) in the virtual document and be able to work out/generate the Property Path (so we could call "GetValueAt").

We can just about come up with something generic for HL7, since it only nests down to 4 levels within each segment, though we're using numeric Property Path's at that point rather than symbolic ones (MSH:1.3 etc).

I understand that InterSystems provides functions to facilitate transactions between FHIR and HL7 via the SDA segment. My question is:

  • Does this transformation only work when InterSystems receives FHIR requests and converts them into HL7, or does it also support responses?
  • Specifically, if our operation sends a GET request to a broker and receives a FHIR response, does InterSystems support transforming this response into an SDA segment automatically?
  • Or should we manually parse and modify the response to handle it according to our needs?

What would be the best approach in this scenario

We are using a DTL transformation to take HL7 and transform into custom XML (XML is a virtual document, held in an EnsLib.EDI.XML.Document object). The schema specifying the format of the XML says one element should occur no more than 24 times (maxOccurs="24" in the XSD schema). However, the transformation to produce one such element always produces 24 elements, all but the last one blank, when tested stand-alone. And when the sub-transform producing one element is incorporated into the full transformation to produce the whole XML object, it produces the wrong output.
Is this a bug in the Ensem
