InterSystems has corrected a defect that may result in missing updates when utilizing Caché online backup.

This defect is present in all Caché and Ensemble versions 2015.1.x, 2015.2.x and 2016.1.x, and all HealthShare distributions based on those versions.  It affects all platforms and operating systems except backups of OpenVMS cluster databases.

The risk does not exist for Mirror Catchup applied to mirrored databases restored from Caché online backup.

The risk only exists when restoring from Caché online backup and applying journal files.  You are at risk of having missing updates if the following are all true

Question:

What version of Caché supports TLS v1.2?

Answer:

Caché 2015.2 announced support for TLS v1.1 and v1.2.  In this version, the SSL/TLS configuration page provides checkboxes for TLS v1.1 and v1.2, which allows the versions to be configured individually.  This allows sites to, for example, require TLS v1.2 only.

Additionally, some earlier versions of Caché provide undocumented support for TLS v1.1 and v1.2, specifically Caché 2014.1.3 and above and 2015.1, on Windows, Linux and Unix

On June 7th we'll be releasing two new views of content that will allow you to rapidly see what's new on the site as well as identify content that has gone unanswered. The next step for this (after this release) will be to add in personalization so that you can filter content based on your tag and member "following" preferences.

I am pleased to announce the field test of Caché and Ensemble 2016.3 -  with many new improvements.

The product team at InterSystems looks forward to your participation in the field test and feedback over the coming months.

Some of the more signification changes in 2016.3 are new RESTful APIs for iKnow and broader APIs for programmatic control of multiple servers (enterprise manager).  As always, there are a host of scalability and performance improvements, including improvements to the core database and SQL.  And hundreds of smaller improvements and corrections.

InterSystems is delighted to announce the support of Docker container technology as a platform from the moment 2016.1 will be released.

Docker is a disruptive system technology that has many benefits and offers many advantages for those investing in infrastructure-as-code or immutable-infrastructure provisioning & deployment scenarios.
Like any new technology that appears, there is a learning curve, and many considerations need to occur when using it. However, Docker container technology has already proven to be successful by a huge follow-up with many companies already using it in production. Furthermore & FYI, all public cloud providers already support it.

InterSystems validates and supports its technologies on Docker container engine from v1.8 and above with CentOS, Ubuntu, RedHat and SUSE based containers from the official Docker Hub repository or their respective projects and sites.

Have fun with it

I am happy to share the news that Zen Mojo 1.1.1 has been released. This release includes many improvements and bugfixes, the most important are:

  • Multiple improvements for the offline bundle generation, e.g. subfolders are correctly copied to the target folder
  • Optimizations for the dojo library, including a reduced load time by prepackaging required widgets into a single JS file
  • The utility functions $show and $hide are now supported by the dojo and chart.js plugin
  • Zen Mojo now stops event propagation by default. The default behavior can be overridden by the return value of the corresponding event handlers in the template

All upcoming Caché and Ensemble releases will ship with Zen Mojo 1.1.1.

You can download Zen Mojo kits from the WRC distribution page: https://wrc.intersystems.com/wrc/Distribution.csp

In this release we added new functionality that marks postings with either a "new" icon or an "unread" icon depending on when you came to the site last and the age of the postings.

Here are the rules as currently implemented:

- If a user hasn't viewed content which was posted less than 2 weeks ago, then the label "new" is displayed.

- If the user hasn't viewed content which was posted more than 2 weeks ago then the label "unread" is display.

With this release we've done a few things with subscriptions

1. Exposed personalization settings so you can control how and when you receive the email subscription notifications. See the image below

2. The ability to selectively subscribe to email notification for content by Tag. At the top of the "Browse by Tag" page there is a new link to Subscribe with Email.

3. Made RSS feeds available for content based on Tag and based on Group. At the top of the "Browse by Tag" and "Browse by Group" pages you will see the RSS link.

4. The ability to subscribe/unsubscribe to individual posts. This is done with the Subscribe/Unsubscribe link that appears on the post listing as well as the post detail page for both Questions and Articles

Here are a few other changes and updates coming in this release.

1. When making a new post, the Related Topics (tagging) is now required. We are doing this because we want to add more features to the site and need the content organized by tag for more granular navigation, cross-linking and page customization. We will create a posting in Developer Community Feedback so that tags can be discussed and we'd be happy to adjust what tags are available now. Free-form tagging and more advanced tagging techniques you may have seen on other sites is not yet implemented but we're looking into what options we have for this.

2. "Browse by Group" is now on the home page (right column), making it easier to view content by Group
