When AMD published the x86-64 standard in 1999, little did they know they were inventing what would become the de-facto architecture for server CPUs. But the CPUs of today aren’t the same as ones produced 20 years back – as they have extensions for everything from Advanced Vector Extensions (AVX) to Hardware-Assisted Virtualization (VT-d).

InterSystems would like to take better advantage of these new extensions in upcoming versions of InterSystems IRIS. While our compilers are smart enough to create optimized code for many situations, some optimizations can only be turned on by explicitly cutting off support for processors that do not have that instruction set. Additionally, we are finding it increasingly difficult to maintain older CPU models to test on.

InterSystems has made the decision to stop further development of the InterSystems Cloud Manager and label it as deprecated as of the InterSystems IRIS 2023.3 release. InterSystems will continue to support existing customers using the technology, but it is no longer recommended for new deployments.

InterSystems Kubernetes Operator (IKO) 3.6 is now Generally Available. IKO 3.6 adds significant new functionality along with numerous bug fixes. Highlights include:

From time to time InterSystems must respin a release to correct 1-2 issues. This process generates new kits called "Point Releases".

A Point Release is distinct from maintenance or feature releases. Its objective is to correct an urgent issue in the field quickly and surgically.

InterSystems is announcing an end of maintenance event for Zen Reports beginning in Intersystems IRIS and IRIS for Health 2025.1. This follows the deprecation notice made when InterSystems IRIS was introduced in 2018 and subsequent inclusion of InterSystems Reports in 2020 to provide replacement reporting functionality. An overview of the timeline is:

We'd like to highlight some outstanding projects created during the European Healthcare Hackathon 2023 in Prague.

Participants were presented with nine real-world healthcare challenges by IKEM and AstraZeneca.
InterSystems introduced to the participants an opportunity to use the FHIR repository and perform FHIR availability into their solutions by providing FHIR cloud services on AWS.

Meet the winners of our challenge:

1st place Čarodějové (PathoSync)

"The PathoSync software is a solid base for complex pathologist platforms. With the use of custom mapping, any laboratory can project their data into FHIR7 standard, which soon will be mandatory worldwide. This makes the digitalization process smoother. The connection with InterSystems assures quality and implements many healthcare features. InterSystems introduced this feature many years ago and a time when using Public Key Infrastructure was not yet widely used. Creating materials for use with Public Key Infrastructure is now widely available, and InterSystems is observing a decline in using the InterSystems PKI.

InterSystems announces its second preview, as part of the developer preview program for the 2023.2 release. This release will include InterSystems IRIS and InterSystems IRIS for Health.
