Question John Murray · Aug 25, 2016

I just got a digest email alerting me to a change in the article https://community.intersystems.com/post/studio-tip-running-cos-commands…

and when I use the list-style view of the dashboard it appears at the top with a recent "updated" timestamp:

But when I open the article the date info on the article and on all of the comments all points to changes 5 or 6 months ago.

I wonder if someone voted up the article earlier today and perhaps that triggered the update notification. If so, I think that's a bug. I don't want to know every time someone votes up (or down) an article.

Hi, Community!

We want to introduce tag Tips & tricks.

It's  not a snippet sometimes, but some small piece of best practice and useful experience.

Please vote if you think it makes sense and we need this tag and we'll introduce it as the first level tag in taxonomy.

Question Thomas Nitzsche · Jul 19, 2016

Hello Community,

on the intersystems-data-platform-blog group as well as the developer-community-feedback group are more articles referenced than shown on the first page. But it is not possible to see further articles when going to the next page. After the click the page shows 'no content found' and the back button does not work anymore.
This behaviour can be tricked adding '?page=1' after the url. On the main page community.intersystems.com the next page buttons work.

Thanks,
Thomas

I have just received an email digest for a post I submitted as someone has added an answer but it was not clear from the digest why I had received the digest or what had changed.

1) When reading the digest in Outlook it has poor layout and style

Main text is light green on white background - poor contrast

2) Not clear what has changed, ie what should I do as a result of getting this email

Would prefer something like

2 people have added a reply to your post on "subject xyz ...." read more ....

3) Would like a clear unsubscribe link (and or instructions at bottom of the email) as good practice

Sometimes simply reading the subject or summary of a post from the index gives me enough information to vote.  Instead of having to click through it would be nice if I could vote from the list of posts.

Question Scott Beeson · Feb 24, 2016

If you go to your profile and click the "Friends" tab there are 3 sub tabs:

For me, the first two tabs are identical.  Given the "pending" URL, I'm assuming the second tab is supposed to be pending requests.  So that's one issue.  I'm not even sure what /flagged is supposed to be, but it lists 4 of my 5 friends.  On top of that, the layout is reversed (icons on the right, names on the left).

Question Alexander Watt · Jun 13, 2016

I've been exploring the Developer Community and noticed a bug.

Steps to reproduce:

  1. Load home page at https://community.intersystems.com/

  2. Scroll to the bottom and select a different page (e.g., 2)

  3. Select a post

  4. Go back with the browser

  5. You should see the same page of results, but I'm seeing the first page regardless of which page I was on previously.

I think one way to address this is to change the URL when the user clicks a different page -- e.g., change it to #page2. Then this is part of their browser history. When they go back, they can hit https://community.intersystems.com/#page2, and the

Hi!

Here is small "How to" again.

Suppose you need to share something with source code. How can we manage it on DC?

Sharing code snippets

1. Add normal post (not Code Package).

2. Paste your code in the post and format it with highlighting as it is described here.

3. If you see that your COS code is highlighted wrong it means that autodetect missed with language. Open the post's HTML ("disable rich-text" button below the Editor) and put class=COS parameter into the code tag.

Example:

#dim test as %Library.Integer
SET test = 123.099
set ^global = %request.Content
Write "Current date """,

Hi, Community!

If you prepare your longread for DC in Microsoft Word or Google Docs there is one very easy way how to add your formatted text and images in DC post at once.

To make it do the following:

1.Click Create Post on Developer Community.

2. Copy all the text in Word o GDocs to the buffer.

3. Click the button Paste from word (see the shot):

4. Paste the text to the opened window an press OK.

5. See the formatted text with images in your post. Save it as a draft or post it.

Discussion Ben Spead · Jun 7, 2016

Since we have a way to see 'Unanswered' questions now, there are a couple of things that jumped out at me.  Not sure if I am missing how to do these or if they need to be added to the future enhancements list:

1) It looks like a lot of people 'Comment' on a Question rather than providing an Answer.  This means that there are many questions listed as unanswered where the answer actually lies in a Comment (but noone has submitted a formal Answer).  Is there some way to tag a Comment as the Answer?

2) In many online forums a question isn't marked as Answered until the author of the question marks

Developer Community was refreshed on May 30th with the following new features and fixes:

1. Formatting of postings in My Collaborations and My Content has been improved

2. Browse by Tag now has filtering options for New, Highest Rated and Unanswered posts

3. Full paging is back on the home page

4. Browse by Tag now includes child tags. Example - posts tagged only with "MDX", which is a child tag of "DeepSee", will appear when using Browse by Tag and viewing DeepSee content

5.Browse by Member is now available.

Ability to view content by particular member is a great feature.

I'd like to propose some enhancements to this:

  • Member content should be accessible from member page. For example, under separate tab.
  • There should be possibility to follow member. For example, I want to be notified every time Evgeny Shvarov posts something.
  • On member content page we should be able to filter by comments/posts/all content.

UPD: I found separate topic for first item of my list: https://community.intersystems.com/post/show-users-posts-user-page

Question Mark Hanson · Apr 8, 2016

When I goto the main developer community page:

https://community.intersystems.com/

When I turn on network monitoring this root page takes over 6s to load, this is with the other pieces of the page already cached on a nice fast network connection, the by the time the other requests are made it is at around 6.7s! A few other attempts were slightly better at around 5s. By comparison if I look at stackoverflow.com I see the browser completely done in <1s, the content itself takes just 433ms.

How can be get this >6s down to something a little more reasonable like <1s, even 1s is pretty slow these

Hello developer community developers!

Thanks for all of features you create.

I encourage the one simple issue again and again when posting articles. Would be happy if it get fixed.

When publishing an article draft, the date of the post should be the date of publishing, but not the date when the draft was created.

When the post is created and saved as a draft it usually takes some time to actually finish the post and publish it.In my case, it took 3 days.

Question Jon Jensen · Apr 27, 2016

Looking at the navigation, should we consider moving the Logout function under the My Account button?  It is kind of oldschool to see the logout functionality as  a stand alone menu item.

Maybe the My Account button should have "Account Settings" and "Logout" as the drop menu items?

Thoughts?
