Hi, Community!

We've updated Developer Community (DC) portal and here are some good news.

Now you can insert in your post highlighted parts of code. It works with help of highlight.js library.

To illustrate it I took some code snippets from Fabian's article.

I used the Members option from the Community button to look up Evgeny's profile. Above the tabs ("View", "Mentions", "Posts (53)" etc) his name was displayed (correct).

Then I clicked on the "Posts (53)" tab. It showed his posts, but displayed my name above the tabs.

Question Mike Kadow · Oct 30, 2016

I create the NewBie posts.

And as directed I use the Beginner tags.

However, a lot of people are using the Beginner tags for other posts.

Is there a way for separating the NewBie posts from the other Beginners?

Failing that, can I in someway make the Newbie Index more visible?

I am doing a lot of work on the NewBie Index to make it more useful.

Question Mack Altman · Oct 11, 2016

Would it be possible to include more lines, and maybe even replace line breaks with a space, to allow you to view the posts that are made more efficiently?

For example, I clicked on Caché and noticed that almost everyone began with "Hi", which ended up not really allowing you to review any of the posts before diving deeper.

I am unsure why but the search feature does not allow you to begin your search with a period, please have this modified.

For example, I was not able to search for ".obj".

Question Jose-Tomas Salvador · Oct 6, 2016

I think DC would be a great area to get feedback from current or future users of our technology about what new features they would like to see in our products and let them vote the different proposals. Open discussions/suggestions with no commitment on IS side to be done but sure there would be lot of good ideas to consider by our product managers and development.

It seems like bug. Or I'm missing something 46 years ago?

Looking at the posts, I cannot find a simple way to show everything in DATE order (newest first).

when I click on "NEW", It's 11:26am (UK time) and the first few entries are

Date/time seems to bear no relationship to the order.

what can I click on so that I see anything

Question Asaf Sinay · Sep 28, 2016

Hello,

I think it will be very useful to add the following information about community members:

-Full Name (that is the only thing we see today)

-Company

-Title

-[Optional] Areas of interests/expertise

This information should help the community members evaluate the credibility of posts and responses.

Thanks,

Asaf

Question Susan Cockrell · Sep 26, 2016

In Subscriptions > Overview >  I checked Digest Mode, which is defined as:

"Merges your notifications into a single email, sent at the interval you specify. "

Under Preferences I set the Send Interval to be Daily.

I receive a couple dozen emails each day.  They all have a subject of "Subscription Digest for..."

Each email only contains a single item, so it doesn't appear to be a "digest."

It clearly is coming more than once a day, so doesn't appear to be following the set Send Interval.

Is this a bug or am I misunderstanding the settings?

Question Douglas Foster · Aug 10, 2016

@Mike Kadow and I are both having this issue.

When editing a post and trying to insert a link, I use the Internal link type to link to a different post.  I am able to search for the page and get the page name to show up in the dialog box, but then the "ok" button is non-responsive.  I can cancel properly.  If I change the link type to URL and paste in the full URL of the page, I can click "ok" and it will save the link.

I have tested this by trying to edit an existing link that is Internal, and while the dialog opens and shows the proper page in the internal link, the "ok" button is

as described in How to post an article from Word or Google Docs, you can use the Paste from Word button to paste content you have copied from a Word or Google Docs document into a Developer Community post.

this worked well for me pasting from Word 10 documents, and retained most (though not all) of my Word formatting. i did have one problem, however, and wanted to pass on my workaround.

if there are external links in the Word document, they sometimes don’t work when pasted in until you manually add http:// or https://, which can get stripped (don't know if this applies to Google Docs).

Question Mark Hanson · Sep 1, 2016

Is there any update on when the RSS feed will be fixed to finally include a Title field. This was reported about 5 months ago. Specifically:

The RSS feed for groups (or communities as the link currently says) does not include a title, e.g. for:

https://community.intersystems.com/group/8081/feed

Starts with:

    <title></title>
    <link>https://community.intersystems.com/group/8081</link>
    <description></description>

So there is no title or description of this feed. Also is there a feed for all content posted to this site, so not filtered by tag/group at all?
