Question João Carlos Azevedo · Dec 21, 2022

Hi!
I have an issue when trying to generate an object when reading an XML file. All files I'll mention will be attached to this post as a PDF file, but it's really a ZIP one.
The XML file is used as a template to generate a PDF report through the JasperSoft Report API. I checked the file consistency, and it's all right. We are able to generate the PDF file with no issues. What we need to with Caché, is to read the XML file, correlate it to an object, so we can change properties from this file.

I have noticed that the way the nodes are ordered is different between 2 different environments.

If I create the following global :

set ^TEMP("Z")=1
set ^TEMP("Ä")=1

Then I dump it with zwrite, I get this (which is expected):

^TEMP("Z")=1
^TEMP("Ä")=1

However, on another machine, it gives me this :

^TEMP("Ä")=1
^TEMP("Z")=1

The same goes for the following command (which return 0 or 1, depending environment) :

write "Z"]]"Ä"

Both are running Windows 10, but one is running IRIS 2021.1, the other CACHE 2017.2.2.

I don't think that's the reason, maybe there's something else (a configuration in Portal).

HI ! I'm working on a caché upgrade to IRIS.

in some abstration cls classes, to get a property was used $METHOD(..Obj, propertyName_"Get").
On Caché 2018,  had as a return property value, if the property does not exists, an exception of type <PROPERTY DOES NOT EXIST> throwed

Now, on IRIS 2022.1,  will always be throwed an exception of type "<METHOD DOES NOT EXIST>".

I can change  $METHOD to  $PROPERTY, but as it is an abstract class, I cannot guarantee the type of the referenced Object, if the property is encapsulated or private, I need call $METHOD(.

Hi everyone.

I have a use case where I'm using embedded SQL within a Business Process to interact with a SQL table. However, when it comes to deployment into our production, the table wont form part of the deployment package created from the production.

Beyond manually creating the table on the production system, is there a standard way of ensuring that a table needed for a class is created during deployment?

In trying to define a Class Parameter that I can use in SQLComputeCode I can't seem to get any of the syntaxes for the using of the parameter where the SQL compute code will actually evaluate the parameter values. There is nothing specific that I can find in the docs about SQLCompute Code and Parameter usage.

Is there some specific syntax for accessing a class defined parameter in the SQL Compute Code that works?

This is on: IRIS for Windows (x86-64) 2022.1.1 (Build 374U) Tue Oct 18 2022 17:37:34 EDT

Question David Wright · Jan 13, 2023

I want to grant access to view the Error Trap in System Management Portal to certain admins, without giving them access to anything that would alter Caché behavior, such as users or database sizes.  I was looking for a granular Resource that would do this, but haven't been able to find what I'm looking for.

Secondly, I granted %Developer role to my developers, but they don't appear to be able to use custom menus in Cache Studio until I grant them %All. Is there a granular Resource that I could use to add to a custom Role and grant to them that would allow custom menus in Cache Studio?

Integrating Cache with .net may be difficult, as we need to know both technologies and tools involved. Let’s follow the simplest possible example and see the pitfalls lurking on our way.

1. Creating .Net Assembly

.Net assembly is unit that contains compiled code and other resources.

Let’s create the simplest .Net assembly that will contain the code we want to execute.

We will use assembly of type Class Library, as we will use classes and their methods contained within. This type of assembly has .dll extension.

For this the easiest way is to use Visual Studio 2015, you can use free edition.

We have just released a minor update to the package manager, which has been renamed from ZPM to IPM as I explained in November.  It purely a bug fix release, properly interpreting ROBOCOPY return codes and fixing a regression that prevented installation of certain packages.

Get it here:

Question Jared Severson · Jan 10, 2023

Hello!

I'm new to the system I'm working on, and I have a part of a statement that needs to grab the previous month.

....and MONTH(TX3.date_of_service)= MONTH(dateadd(mm,-1,GETDATE()))

However, when it hits January, I'm left with month 0.

Does anyone know a workaround to grab December of the previous year, while still functioning normally for the rest of the current year.

Thank you!

I am familiar with $TEXT which can get you any line in the current routine provided you know the offset. For example, $T(+1) will get you the first line of the current routine at the run time. In the same vein, how do I reference the current line number/offset at the run time? Something like $T(+$CURRENTLINENUMBER) where $CURRENTLINENUMBER is not yet known to me function. The sample below would write 3 as the line number.

RTNNAME
 S A=1
W $CURRENTLINENUMBER

Hi,

I have a test version of Cache installed on my laptop, but I cannot get logged into the database.  I think my ID may be locked due to too many password failure attempts.  I have not changed the Admin password or SuperUser password.  Does anyone know what the default password would be for the Admin and/or SuperUser Id's?  Or if someone knows how I can get in and unlock/reset my password, it would be much appreciated??

Thanks,

Larry Cardinal

Happy New Year to all

Question Dominic Chui · Jan 3, 2023

I have a registered object class that extends %XML.Adaptor and I want to convert an object of it into canonical XML.

From reading the documentation and some trial and error, it seems like I would need to use %XML.Writer to write the object to XML first using the RootObject() method, then read it with %XML.Reader, and then use the Canonicalize() method of %XML.Writer to write it out again.

Is there a better approach?

I have a CSP page that throw a "414 error - Request-URI Too Long" when I put lot of text (eg : 10000 characters) into a field of a submitted form. The form is submitted using POST method.

Based on some experiments I made, it seems the max size of a URL is around 8200 characters.

What is the official limit, and is there a way to increase it ? I searched in the documentation but couldn't find anything.

Question Scott Roth · Dec 16, 2022

Was wondering if anyone had a simple way of calling  ##class(Ens.Director).EnableConfigItem() within a Business Process or adding code to a Custom Service to start or stop the object?

The use case is that I have a Process that uploads a file into a external SQL table. When it is finished I want it to kick off another Service that does the processing of the data that it just uploaded. Once it is finished the response is sent back to the service and when the service receives the response from the process, I want to stop that service from running.

so.

Similar to: "set obj = ##class(myClass).%OpenId(id)", which give the an instance of the object with given ID, is there a way to implement a function/classmethod to return the same by providing both class name and ID as a parameter, such as: getObjectInstanceByNameId(className As %String, id As %Integer), using ObjectScript code?

Suppose you have developed your own app with InterSystems technologies stack and now want to perform multiple deployments on the customers' side. During the development process you've composed a detailed installation guide for your application, because you need to not only import classes, but also fine-tune the environment according to your needs.
To address this specific task, InterSystems has created a special tool called %Installer. Read on to find out how to use it.

Hi!

I'm running a unit test via terminal, and sometimes someone from another team/squad add a few BREAKs and my tests stop until I skip one by one.

Is there a way to ignore BREAKs?
