Introduction

Businesses often use in-memory databases or key-value stores (caching layers) when applications require extremely high performance. However, in-memory databases incur a high total cost of ownership and have hard scalability limits, incurring reliability problems and restart delays when memory limits are exceeded. In-memory key-value stores share these limitations and introduce architectural complexity and network latency as well.

InterSystems IRIS is the only persistent database that can match or beat the performance of in-memory databases and caching layers for concurrent data ingestion and analytics processing. It can process incoming transactions, persist the data to disk, and index it for analytics in under one microsecond on commercially available hardware without introducing network latency.

The superior ingest performance of InterSystems IRIS results in part from its multi-dimensional data engine, which allows efficient and compact storage in a rich data structure. Using an efficient, multi-dimensional data model with sparse storage techniques instead of two-dimensional tables, random data access and updates are accomplished with very high performance, fewer resources and less disk capacity. I am receiving a FHIR response bundle back with a resource of patient. Using fromDao, I attempted to take the stream and put it into FHIRModel.R4.Patient but it is not mapping correctly. When I attempt to take FHIRModel.R4.Patient and write it out using toString(), all I am seeing is the resource

{"resourceType":"Patient"}

so the response is not mapping correctly to FHIRModel.R4.Patient. How have others handled this? Do I need to translate it to an SDA since it does fit the model format?

InterSystems IRIS 2025.2.0 introduces several features to improve the user experience of configuring OAuth2.

- OAuth2 is now a native authentication type and can be easily enabled for your services and web applications. Previously, OAuth2 was a type of delegated authentication.

- You can now create resource servers with the new OAuth2.ResourceServer class, which simplifies resource server configuration significantly. Previously, resource servers were instances of OAuth2.Client.

Hello,

One of our clients has a 'Notes' class with over 3 million records. We have a report that pulls data from this table that was taking about an hour to run. Our test environment (which has a copy of the production database) runs the same report query in 1 second.

We attempted to purge and rebuild indices which made an improvement (down to 15 minutes) but still not great.

I was using VSCode to edit a DTL because it seemed easier to copy/paste code from parts of the DTL I was editing. I tried to add <sql> tag and code to call a SELECT statement, but when I compiled I got the following error...

Trying to test a router that takes an XML input and performs a transform on it.

First attempt I tried to test the transform using the XML Document Viewer via the Ensemble -> Interoperate -> XML Document Viewer menu. The transform itself is working however I can not get the output to save to a file. I've made sure permissions are set correctly on the file. It simply doesn't output anything and I'm at a loss as to why.

Recently, I replaced my old laptop with a new one and had to migrate all my data. I was looking for a guide but couldn’t find anything that explained in detail how to migrate server connections from InterSystems Studio and Visual Studio Code from one PC to another. Simply reinstalling the tools is not enough, and migrating all the connections manually seemed like a waste of time. In the end, I managed to solve the problem, and this article explains how.
