Introduction

In my previous article, I introduced the FHIR Data Explorer, a proof-of-concept application that connects InterSystems IRIS, Python, and Ollama to enable semantic search and visualization over healthcare data in FHIR format, a project currently participating in the InterSystems External Language Contest.

In this follow-up, we’ll see how I integrated Ollama for generating patient history summaries directly from structured FHIR data stored in IRIS, using lightweight local language models (LLMs) such as Llama 3.2:1B or Gemma 2:2B.

The goal was to build a completely local AI pipeline that can extract, format, and narrate patient histories while keeping data private and under full control.

All patient data used in this demo comes from FHIR bundles, which were parsed and loaded into IRIS via the IRIStool module. This approach makes it straightforward to query, transform, and vectorize healthcare data using familiar pandas operations in Python. To manage the accumulation of production data, InterSystems IRIS enables users to manage the database size by periodically purging the data. This purge can apply to messages, logs, business processes, and managed alerts.

Hi,

I'd like to report a really strange behavior of the Intersystems Lite Terminal after executing a simple ObjectScript instruction.

From the Intersystems Lite terminal, execute the following instructions:

- Set uniqueId = "12345678_1"
- Set uniqueId = $p(uniqueId,"_",1)_"_"_($p(uniqueId,"_",*)+1)
After executing the second instruction, the terminal closes without any error.

Hi community,

I have a service that uses EnsLib.RecordMap.Service.FTPService to capture files in an FTP directory.

Instead of uploading them all at once, I would need to do so one at a time.

I have a class that extends this class because it preprocesses, saves everything in the RecordMap class, and then processes all the records at once.

When I invoke the BP, it does so through the method set tStatus = ..SendRequest(message, 1).

I've set the SynchronousSend flag to 1, but it continues processing all the files at once.

Target Practice for IrisClusters with KWOK

KWOK, Kubernetes WithOut Kubelet, is a lightweight tool that simulates nodes and pods—without running real workloads—so you can quickly test and scale IrisCluster behavior, scheduling, and zone assignment. For those of you wondering what value is in this without the IRIS workload, you will quickly realize it when you play with your Desk Toys awaiting nodes and pods to come up or get the bill for provisioning expensive disk behind the pvc's for no other reason than just to validate your topology.

Here we will use it to simulate an IrisCluster and target a topology across 4 zones, implementing high availability mirroring across zones, disaster recovery to an alternate zone, and horizontal ephemeral compute (ecp) to a zone of its own. All of this done locally, suitable for repeatable testing, and a valuable validation check mark on the road to production.

"Haul" a Portable Registry for Airgapped IrisClusters

Rancher Government Hauler streamlines deploying and maintaining InterSystems container workloads in air-gapped environments by simplifying how you package and move required assets. It treats container images, Helm charts, and other files as content and collections, letting you fetch, store, and distribute them declaratively or via CLI — without changing your existing workflows. I am looking for a way to capture Data Quality issues with the Source data that is populating HealthShare Provider Directory. 1 way is to use Managed Alerts, but since it could be multiple Providers and different messages it seems silly to alert on every message that has the error. Instead, I was thinking of using the Workflow Engine so it could populate a Worklist for someone to review and work.

Looking over the Demo.Workflow Engine example, I am not comprehending on how to send a task to the Workflow manager to populate the worklist from a DTL.
