in order to do analysis on huge data volumes, it is better to take you data to a separate machine for analysis away from the operational machine, so trying to write huge globals or tables into files as is would take a huge space, what could be a solution or best practice ?..in python for instance, there is the pickling option (serializes data to byte string and saves it to a file) to save space, what could be best in object script ?
Hello everyone, let me introduce, one of my latest projects. It is a DataSource plugin for Grafana, which can connect directly to InterSystems IRIS and gather any data (in the future).
Are there any direct command to find the length of subscript of global variable? Is it possible to code in objectscript to find the maximum length of subscript in a global variable.
I recently needed to interrogate some folders/sub-folders to retrieve filenames using cache object script(COS) and I implemented it in the following way.

I need to generate a DDL file from a .cls class that already exists, the idea is to create a mirror table in SQL. Is it possible to do this export or do I need to do the CREATE TABLE manually?
I thought i would share a little method I knocked together to traverse and compare 2 JSON objects for basic equivilance. I'm currently working on some data migration, and wanted a basic sanity check to validate that the JSON output is basically equivliant between the old and new, excluding a few things like timestamps.
It's a basic little recurvsive method, that will bubble up any differences over a nested structure. It's very low tech, as that's all I need it to do, but I thought it might be useful for others?
I came across some issues when setting up Freeze and Thaw batch scripts for use with VMWare in a Windows ecosystem, and I wanted to share what I found in the hopes it can help others. This was undertaken in an environment using Healthconnect 2019.1.x.
I'm performing a migration of some services from one instance to another, and I noticed that the technique defined within the InterSystems Server Migration Guide does not include OAuth client configurations. The recommended technique is to use the ##class(Security.System).ExportAll() and ##class(Security.System).ImportAll() methods.
Is there a way to migrate OAuth client configurations, or do those have to be re-created manually?
We have a background job that keeps an eye on our ongoing CSP sessions, counts licenses used and some other tasks. Question: If I know the session ID (something like "wuuZ2Gwgxw"), how do I (find and) end that particular session programmatically in ObjectScript - i.e., the equivalent of %session.EndSession=1 in the csp page code?
Dear ladies and gentlemen, in the last month I've improved my Tool Caché Monitor... but first: the name
The name Caché Monitor was chosen to reflect the close integration of the tool with the Caché database. The established name Intersystems Caché will likely be completely replaced by InterSystems IRIS Data Platform in the foreseeable future I think. So a rebranding step became necessary. In order to be less closely tied to a product name in the future, a new name has been chosen to be more neutral: SQL Data Lens
I have an application that is called by terminal in local cache environment. The application basically has two processes that runs and does the below call to retrieve files and sub-directories in separate folders. When the main process starts, it jobs off and calls the second process that gathers all files in a directory by using a window dir and file command that pipes the results to a file. The main process continues on and does the same thing but from a different folder. When checking out what was retrieved by the secondprocess, there were directories and files missing. When I run this as just one process it works properly. I am running this on a 2017 license cache instance. I have also tried this on IRIS instance and got the same results. Could you please advise me what is causing the window directory to not work properly when running the processes at the same time?
We use the Caché JDBC Gateway to Oracle and SQL servers to directly invoke their stored procedures from Ensemble. Getting quick, inline data results back are typically handled within the Functions.Library class as a function to wrap the query and format the return appropriately.
Not so while ago GitHub introduced, ability to very quickly run VSCode in the browser for any repository hosted there. Press the . key on any repository or pull request, or swap .com with .dev in the URL, to go directly to a VS Code environment in your browser.
This VSCode is a light version of the Desktop version but works entirely in Browser. And due to this, it has a limitation for extensions which was allowed to work this way. And let me introduce the new version 1.2.1 of VSCode-ObjectScript extension which now supports running in Browser mode.
If you're building solutions on IRIS and want to use Git, that's great! Just use VSCode with a local git repo and push your changes out to the server - it's that easy.
I was wondering if anyone had come across a way of reformatting ObjectScript within VSCode.
I have the various Intersystems Extensions installed (InterSystems Language Pack, InterSystems ObjectScript, InterSystems ObjectScript Extension Pack, InterSystems Server Manager) but a formatter does not seem to be something included within this variety of extensions.
How do I view the .int code of a compiled class in VS Code?
I am trying to use gj::Locate and the setup works, the explanation is all fine but when i paste an error from the Error Logs into the gj::locate it firstly tells me that it can't find the .cls and when I paste in the .int reference in the text box where you can specify the class, method, line+offset it replies that it can't find the item.
This is something to do with the objectscript extension rather than gj::locate
