2018 was another great year for InterSystems Developer Community - thanks to you!

Here are a few highlights:

I'm sure most of you are familiar with utility %SYS.MONLBL that is crucial when analysing code performance bottlenecks. It allows you to select a number of routines that you want to monitor at runtime and also specify what process(es) you want to watch. BUT, what if you do not know exactly, what process would execute your code? This is true with many web based (CSP/REST) applications today. You want to minimize the resource utilization on your production system that needs analysis. So, how about doing a small tweak?

1. Define an INC file with these macros:

A recent question from @Vivian Lee reminded me of a rather ancient example.
It was the time when DeepSee's first version was released.
We got Bitmap Index.
And we got BitSlice Index: mapping a numeric value by its binary parts.
So my idea: Why not indexing strings by their characters?
The result of this idea was presented first in June 2008.
IKnow wasn't publicly available at that time.

So as asked, I am not talking about KILL - KILL as stated in the docs:

This command removes the variable. If there are no further references to the object, this command also removes the object from memory,

I want to remove the object from memory even if it is still referenced in memory - I understand that cache is not a low-level programming language, But i was hoping there is a way.

Notice that have a RegisteredObject and it is a single reference, It is different than the UnSwizzles suggested in other posts.

I do not know about others, but Docker and the intro of Docker was not a forte of mine coming into trying out new components of InterSystems IRIS. We are moving to IRIS and with that we want to incorporate into our upgrade. I have been struggling with trying to understand Docker. I know it is not an InterSystems product but the assumption that everyone knows Docker and is using Docker has caused me a great deal of time.

What is everyone's thoughts about getting some kind of docker help like a basic understanding within InterSystems documentation.

Need help on HL7 message processing without use of Ensemble. Any sample code on how inbound HL7 messages using TCP/IP streaming mode can be processed through COS?

We have an immediate requirement for an experienced Intersystems Ensemble/Healthshare Connect developer to join our team with a good grounding programming ,Healthcare Integration and experience with InterSystems Ensemble/Healthshare Health Connect.

Some IF statements reference macro $$$WindowsCacheClient as a boolean flag to mark if the client calling the LDAP server is running Windows. Other IF statements reference $$$ISWINDOWS. Are they not the same thing? That is, does the routine need $$$WindowsCacheClient at all?

Examples:

InterSystems has corrected a defect that could lead to invalid backups on Windows platforms. The defect causes upgrades to disable the EnableVSSBackup setting. By default, EnableVSSBackup is enabled (value set to 1) and the upgrade sets its value to 0. Windows VSS backups taken with this setting disabled may contain invalid CACHE.DAT files.

This problem is limited to Windows platforms on the following versions:

• Caché and Ensemble 2018.1.0, 2018.1.1, and 2018.1.2
• HealthShare Health Connect (HSAP) 15.032 on Core versions 2018.1.0, 2018.1.1, and 2018.1.2
• HealthShare 2019.1 (Unified Care Record, Patient Index, Health Insight, Personal Community, and Provider Directory) on Core version 2018.1.2
• HealthShare 2018.1 (Information Exchange, Patient Index, Health Insight, and Personal Community) on Core versions 2018.1.1 or 2018.1.0

The defect only occurs if you are upgrading to a version listed above. Once you have upgraded to an affected version, you must manually enable the setting; otherwise, it will be disabled on future upgrades, even when upgrading to versions containing the correction.

For customers using Windows VSS backups, InterSystems recommends enabling this setting on any 2018.1 instances of Caché or Ensemble. Once you have enabled the setting, future upgrades (including to affected versions) will preserve its value.

If I paste something into the Message editor (e.g. when posting) the editor duplicates the content in the clipboard. This is very annoying. I am using Safari 7.1.7.
