InterSystems Learning Services is working to identify and create libraries of high-quality learning resources for third-party technologies, platforms, and systems that are part of, integrated with, or commonly used with InterSystems products and technologies. we don't create content for these ourselves, but want to support our clients, external and internal, in learning about them and how to use them.
I am creating an import tool to convert a client's JSON data into IRIS classes. The sample file is over half a gig. I am copying the data into an instance of %Stream.FileCharacter;. My first few attempts worked fine. However I started getting an error thrown when I try to create a DynamicAbstractObject using the %FromJSON method. See the code below. The error code given is not in the documentation, at least not the doc that I was searching.
In most organizations, events drive action. In financial services, for example, a stock dipping below a threshold price may trigger a sell order. In manufacturing, production may start when an order is received. In healthcare, an unusual increase in the number of patients registering in an emergency room could signal the start of a disease outbreak, calling for action on the part of medical staff and public health officials.
First time post, also a new Cache developer, hence the <Beginner> tag.
If our data has Predefined terms in a dictionary, and a user can add terms on their own, can the terms exist in different tables?
Lets call the tables "Terms" and the user data in "UserTerms".
If a third class definition has a property of "Term" can it not be either Terms or UserTerms?
I'm leaning towards using a Subclass strategy where the pseudo "Parent" (forgive me) is Dictionary.Term and the child is along the lines of Dictionary.Term.User
User interfaces such as Portal often give us multiple ways of doing a task. Sometimes we stick with habits and don't realize that another way might save us time.
Here's one that I learned by watching someone else using Portal.
Use the Search box to get quickly to a page that may otherwise be several layers deep in the Portal hierarchy. For example, suppose I want to check the status of the ECP networking:
Presenter: Benjamin De Boe Task: Extract specialized information from your unstructured data Approach: Combine InterSystems iKnow technology with third-party and custom text-processing tools
This session explains how you can easily combine ISC, third-party and custom text processing tools to get the broadest insights in your unstructured data.

I'm trying to create a Zen Report that, when rendered to PDF has a header on every page that includes some items from the group that I'm iterating over in the <body>. I can't use <header> as that only displays once for each iteration, even if that spans more than one page, but <pageheader> seems to be independent of <body> so again doesn't work.
Ensemble is based on message flow, and a data transformation is a way to convert from one message type to another. DTL (Data Transformation Language) adds a layer to this - it provides a graphical way to do the conversion. This is really helpful because most of the time, people with domain-specific knowledge may not have extensive coding skills. However, you always have the ability to do some coding, so if you need or want to, this is available.
DTL has several components: the data transformation engine, the language itself, and the DTL editor.
We're trying to get a little more discipline around Web Gateway change control, and deploy changes to our CSP.ini from source control. I was wondering if anyone cared to share their best practices in this area? There is a "RELOAD" parameter (https://docs.intersystems.com/irislatest/csp/docbook/DocBook.UI.Page.cls...) which says you can put RELOAD=1 in your CSP.ini file in order to force it to automatically activate when noticed by the daemon.
We are doing a SQL server upgrade to SQL server v.15 from a legacy server which had v.10 . I have our Cache server as a linked server int order to pull data from our system. When building out the ROWSPEC, I have my fields typed as %String with various lengths with one field having a max length of 15000. The SQL server is trying to interpret this as a text data type instead of varchar(n). Text is a depracated data type since SQL server 2008. The error below is produced when trying to query from this view
We have a solution with an EnsLib.EMail.InboundAdapter as services that scan a mailbox on incoming mail with attachments.
When a new email arrives, the service sends the request (with a property %Net.MailMessage) to the process. In the process, we try to loop through and retrieve part 2 which we assume is the file.
set Part = pRequest.Mail.Parts.GetAt (2)
We can read out the file name: Set FileName = Part.FileName
But how, and is it possible, to save the attached file to disk drive?
Having received feedback, I decided to improve it significantly. Replaced zip archive with tgz, which will allow not using external system-dependent archivers.
Hello developers!
I present to you the project of editors in terminal mode. The full-screen editor of routines, arrays and text files in terminal mode can be useful to you when debugging your project in docker or when your web interface is unavailable or limited for some reason.
Although this project is self-sufficient, I decided to make it as an addition to the ‘zapm’ module for the convenience of calling editor commands.
If your instance does not have a ZPM, then you can install the zapm-editor module in one line:
We introduced Business Services Rewards on Global Masters, so now you have a great opportunity to highlight applications, solutions, services of your company on Developer Community and our social media, and even redeem a Google AdWords campaign for your OEX application!
It's well-known among Studio users that besides few predefined code fragments (for ObjectScript, Basic, MV Basic) it's possible to add user-defined code fragments. I found it rather convenient to use them as patterns that help to follow some conventions (internal standards) of writing, say, methods descriptions.
But I didn't find a way how to share these patterns, except dumb copy-pasting. Did somebody succeed with this task? Any help would be appreciated.

I am writing an API that sends over a very large JSON object.
The code I'm using to get the data is actually used in our production system today for the use of writing a report.
However when I call the code using the API (using SoapUI) I am getting 'Error getting response; java.net.SocketTimeoutException: Read timed out'
The web applications settings have a session timeout setting at 15 minutes, but this is timing out within just a few minutes, so I know it's not hitting this mark.

As I was going though and trying to figure out why our CACHE.dat has increased in size over the past 18 days, I found that EnsLib_HL7.Message is still retaining messages dating back to 2014 even though we have our purge set to 10 days. Has anyone else experienced this?

I have a ZEN page class with the following annotation. What I try to accomplish is to display data from Object of Type MyPckg.Message. Each Message shall be displayed in a component of type <html>. The outline is somekind the following.
