This article outlines the process of utilizing the renowned Jaeger solution for tracing InterSystems IRIS applications. Jaeger is an open-source product for tracking and identifying issues, especially in distributed and microservices environments. This tracing backend that emerged at Uber in 2015 was inspired by Google's Dapper and Twitter's OpenZipkin. It later joined the Cloud Native Computing Foundation (CNCF) as an incubating project in 2017, achieving graduated status in 2019. This guide will demonstrate how to operate the containerized Jaeger solution integrated with IRIS.

If anyone has a custom checklist of tasks that must absolutely be done when doing this upgrade to make sure everything is included and nothing is lost or destroyed, we would greatly appreciate it? We have the generic checklist provided on the support websites but we run custom build classes, ftp, tcp-ip, batch, etc.

Thanks,

Jonathan Harris

Migrating from Oracle, MSSQL, or other purely relational database systems to a multimodel InterSystems IRIS is a strategic decision that requires careful planning and execution. While this transition offers significant benefits, including enhanced performance, scalability, and support for modern architectures, it also comes with challenges. In this article I will highlight some of the considerations connected to coding to ensure a successful migration. I will leave everything connected to an actual migration of structures and data outside the scope of this article.

First, when you're considering migrating to a different database system, you need to understand your business logic, whether it's on the side of the application (application server) or the database server. Basically, where do you have your SQL statements that you will need to potentially rewrite?

We are receiving the report in text format and it has special characters like ', - like that in the text. Source system is using the UTF8 encoding format hence the text is showing as ' ' . Is there a way to convert the utf8 to actual character in the DTL.

Thank you,

Introduction

To achieve optimized AI performance, robust explainability, adaptability, and efficiency in healthcare solutions, InterSystems IRIS serves as the core foundation for a project within the x-rAI multi-agentic framework. This article provides an in-depth look at how InterSystems IRIS empowers the development of a real-time health data analytics platform, enabling advanced analytics and actionable insights. The solution leverages the strengths of InterSystems IRIS, including dynamic SQL, native vector search capabilities, distributed caching (ECP), and FHIR interoperability. This innovative approach directly aligns with the contest themes of "Using Dynamic SQL & Embedded SQL," "GenAI, Vector Search," and "FHIR, EHR," showcasing a practical application of InterSystems IRIS in a critical healthcare context.

Inside Database Management Tool

In this article, we’ll dive into the inner workings of the database management tool, exploring the architecture and technologies that power it. Understanding how the application functions behind the scenes will give you insight into its design, how it manages databases, tables, and how the API interacts with data.

API Response truncating?

I have an API that does not have all the data. Like it is truncated. Magic number of characters seems to be 163,280

I do an <assign>

context.RawBundle=##class(%DynamicObject).%FromJSON(context.FHIRResponse.Body)

The error does not happen when the response is < 163,280 chars. And when < 163,280 chars, it is a complete FHIR Bundle. Have anyone experienced this? If so, what is the resolution?

I'm wondering what the best practice is for handling %Status values within the terminal.
1. set tSC=...
    do $SYSTEM.Status.DisplayError(tSC)

2. set tSC=...
   zwrite tSC

3. An alternative?

Is there a meaningful difference between the two? Should one be used over the other for any reason? Should something else be used?

I'm trying to read data from a file and it contains single precision (4 byte) float values. Does Iris/Cache' have a way to convert the binary into a Cache' variable that is accurate?

ZW RECORD
RECORD="EDID"_$c(17,0)_"fLargeRefMinSize"_$c(0)_"DATA"_$c(4,0,0,0,0)_"DGMST&"_$c(0,0,0,0,0,0,0)_"d"_$c(14,0,0,30)_"h+"_$c(0)_"("_$c(0,0,0)_"EDID"_$c(22,0)_"fBribeSpeechcraftMult"_$c(0)_"DATA"_$c(4,0)_"ÍÌÌ=GMST"_$c(28,0,0,0,0,0,0,0)_"c"_$c(14,0,0,30)_"h+"_$c(0)_"("_$c(0,0,0)_"EDID"_$c(12)

The float DATA value for "f" LargeRefMinSize is $c(0,0,0,0) which is obviously 0.

TrakCare iprint

Hi,

I'm trying to configure iprint for trakcare.

My trakcare runs on linux IRIS(SUSE).

iprint is from MicroFocus [previously Novell]

iprint is a print facility that many printers support where there is a virtual queue for each AD user.

You can log onto any iprint printer using your AD credentials and you can access your virtual print queue. You can then physical print from that virtual queue.

Has anyone configured this for their trakcare?
In order to do this I need to:
- map each trakcare user to their equivalent AD user

Hello,

First of all thank you for your time reading our topic

We would need some help from experienced people

We have a SOAP Service with more than 10 methods

Our aim is to include all classes being used by this SOAP Service, in a Studio project

The challenge is that there are plenty Data classes (which extends from (%SerialObject, %XML.Adaptor))

▶️ Is there a recommended way to include all project's classes in a Studio project?

Hi, we have mirrored databases, now we have three nodes. Primary, backup, async. They are sync by journals and with some TB each node (expensive storage).

I would like to have a scenario where the two nodes (Primary and backup) have the same amount of messages (purge task of x days) , both as failover, but the asynchronous node should have more messaging, as much as the storage allows us. We want to use this node so provider can give support(search old messages), but not have databases in production that are so large that they are hardly consulted.

Any ideas?

Ambiguous sort column error

Hello,

I have a small SQL question.

Running an example queries in our Samples Namespace:

1. select top 5 Description,Category from Cinema.Film order by Category - runs fine no issues and returns 2 columns as expected

2. select top 5 * from Cinema.Film order by Category - runs fine no issues and returns 8 columns as expected

3. select top 5 Description,Category,* from Cinema.Film order by ID - runs fine no issues, and returns 10 columns, with my first 2 repeated

4. When I try to combine the first 2 queries:
